A few people complained that it was "too explicit because it's only implied" in the game. Ellie's sexuality is canon and Bill and Frank's is *strongly-implied* in the game so it's a stupid nitpick. I don't know any straight men who own gay porn like Bill, lol. It's a vocal minority of idiots who think everything is "woke." They're just as annoying as the people who think everything is offensive or "problematic." They don't understand context or nuance. Episode 3 seemed like LGBT representation done properly. Superficially, I can't relate much to Bill and Frank but *I felt their happiness and pain.* "Woke" is when a corporation or show forces representation with shallow characters while metaphorically shouting, "LOOK HOW PROGRESSIVE WE ARE"

While playing the games I loved Bills character and always wanted to know more about how he lived before and his relationship with Joel. The show did that perfectly it was the best episode for me because it expanded on a story I wanted to know about. I will say if they do Season 2 like TLOU 2 I will hate it as I hate that game with a passion for what they did.

What yall missed about Tess is in ep2. Tess says: “Ive never asked u to feel the way i did”. Joel was in love, but never fully gave in to that love, because he could not handle more loss. Thats also why he walked away that abruptly after the explosion. Better to pretend u dont feel and run to the next mission, than to have to feel, to hurt.

Oh, man. The amount of hate I've seen for episode three is crazy. Calling it "woke agenda"... saying no one asked for this shit... get the hell outta here! That was the best piece of television I've watched in a long ass time. The acting was stellar. The cinematography was on point. And if I'm being honest. Joel also felt differently with Tess than Tess did about Joel. He loved her, but she was IN LOVE with him.. I think he might open up more about Tess with Ellie later on.. But that's most of the last of us characters, they're only on screen for a little while before something horrible happens.. They probably do this best with Owen, and what happens to him hits far harder later on in the game since you get to know him a lot through amazingly written flash backs.

Tess for her sake knew why and respected it by not pressuring him for more but that didn't stop her from catching strong feelings for him. Reading between the lines of that scene and Pedro's performance, i'd guess Joel didn't realize how much Tess meant to him till that moment

Out of curiosity: what about all the people tossing out 10s? That mindset of calling out those tossing out 1/10 ratings while ignoring those doing the same thing on the opposite end, simply because you're one of them or agree, is hypocritical. This "trend" and lack of nuance concerning rating TV shows/episodes and films as if there are no other numbers between 1 and 10 is ridiculous. I've noticed that, regarding this show, most ratings are 10s; in the third episode's case, 10s and 1s: barely any in the middle. And I doubt this phenomenon is exclusive to this show. There are likely plenty of other examples. 7-9, especially 8 and 9, convey just as much as a 10/10 would; you don't have to give something a 10/10 rating to say you thought it was good, and anything lower than that down to a 7/10 doesn't mean you hated it. 5-6 or at least one rating lower says enough; you don't have to go to the extreme and use a 1/10 rating.

Joel was forced to feel emotion out of guilt and went into father mode after Ellie shot that guy. She got emotional even though she had done it before. This was the first time I teared up in one of their scenes in the show. You can see their similarities and greatest fears all at once.

the shoutout to Calvin was nice, I was worried about that boy. He wasn't just wrecked, dude was shellshocked. I loved this episode cause it represented an equally awesome but opposite side of teh spectrum from last week. While last week was so different, this week we had so much stuff lifted straight from the game. And it was really nice to see Jeffrey Pearce even if it wasn't as Tommy.

i loved all the ad-libs from the npc actors bc they were the exact same from the game 😂 sam and henry were washed from my memory until i saw the drawings lol and i’m glad they did gun-safety with ellie in this bc from the reactions i’ve seen so far, all the commentators mention using 2 hands, the extra bullet on the ground, etc also when tess’s story ended, she said she never blamed joel for not feeling the same as she did and in this episode, joel said she’s “like family” so i don’t think a kiss would’ve happened lol. if he did, it would’ve been a pity one of his side and tess didn’t deserve that. but i agree that i think they knew a moment like that would happen where there’d be no time for goodbyes. plus, he had to pretty much drag ellie away so imagine if he lingered.

It's so funny seeing reactors (especially ones who've played the game) acting like this is Ellie's first time around a gun...I mean, she was literally in a military academy during the apocalypse, this is not her first time handling a weapon. Not to say that a 14-year-old is going to be the most responsible gun owner around, but she's not completely naïve to the concept of basic gun safety either.

Thank you So much for the bit at the beginning. I enjoy reaction channels and I've mostly heard great things about episode 3 in particular but there have been some channels who not only say its the worst episode so far but basically tell on themselves in regards to their hemophobia but claim it has nothing to do with homophobia. Usually when you have to mention several times that you're not homophobic, but continue to point out petty reasons as to why that episode was bad and its "not your thing", it might mean you're homophobic...so as a gay woman, thank you.
