I like how Bill waited till Frank drank all of his wine before he drank. He didn't want to take the chance that if Frank decided not to drink that he might leave Frank alone. He was making sure he could take care of him until the end.

This episode just killed me emotionally. Mainly because exactly what Frank and Bill did at the end, is exactly what I would do if my wife was terminal and asked for me to give her a dignified end. I don’t want to be here without her, we’ve been married for 28 years and I don’t want to spend a single moment without her. We would lay down and just drift off. I don’t see my wife ever asking to do that, but that’s what will happen if she ever does. Without her, there is no life.

Frank wasn't being selfish. He was dying and it was gonna be a bad and slow death, ending it quickly was the humane thing to do. Bill made the choice to join him which was better than being alone as an elder person, nothing wrong with that either especially with infected, slaver's and raider's everywhere. who wouldn't want to be free of that mess?
@kikaGama98

It's not selfish though.. I understand where you coming from.. but you have to imagine that to him to take such a drastic decision It's because most likely he's in tremendous pain. Also, if he didn't have to ask Bill to do it, I don't think he would have put the burden on Bill. But he was physically unable to crush up the pills or anything like that. I totally agree it wasn't selfish. He was hurting and wanted it to end and couldnt do it himself. So he asked his partner to help and his partner decided he was ready too. Thus was so beautiful in every way.

You know, in the modern world, Assisted Suicide exists for a reason. Some people are, unfortunately, going to die from their disease. And there's nothing that can be done. But some very amazing countries have allowed Terminal Patients to have their lives ended on their own terms. Because dying the way you want to is preferable to just wasting away in a chair, in pain, wondering when your last day will be. DO NOT judge Frank for his choice until you've dealt with someone very close to you who was Terminally Ill and knew there was no hope. It's not a pretty choice: Keep doing chemotherapy and meds, or leave this life the way you and your family wants it.

In older houses, especially ones built in the country if you have the windows open and one door closes it'll create a draft. That's why the door to the bedroom closed when the front door did. It was a brilliant stylistic choice, knowing that Bill and Frank are dead inside there, it was almost as if it were Bill and Frank saying, "No, Joel. You don't want to see this." Fucking BRILLIANT. I could write a paper on this episode alone.

This episode brought up the discussion over euthanasia/ assisted suicde. I react same as Ellie, crying and feeling so so so bad for Bill that it was too difficult. After thought this episode made me feel gratitude for any legal clinical support for assisted suicde. If people are in too much pain and that's their choice, they will probably work to it, whether they have a healthy peaceful way or a more dangerous maybe painful homemade way; similar to abrtion. I thought it was so hard on Bill and I don't want that for peole- that burden all by yourself. If there is help for the process than that's better. I can't compare and animal's life to a human's. But I took care of my dog. She loved me and depended on me to protect and provide for her. When her organs were shutting down, she looked at me with gentle eyes to tell me she didn't want to be here anymore. I had clinical help and letting her pass peacefully. Easy? No. Mostdifficult thing I've ever done. And I've even done those 'one last good days' to close out your relationship with the love of your life, since I've had to move from countries. You spend most of the day smiling and happy, blocking it all out until the end of your very last planned activity and tomorrow is now, but even while you're happy and joking it is like your breath is blocked inside your throat. Maybe because if your mouth opens too wide your crying will come out. A clinic helped me: I held my dog in my arms and they let her pass away. I carry that loss with me everywhere. I miss her and I blame myself for not being able to protect t her from cancer. it would have been much too hard on me to have to kill my dog myself some way at home I could never. That would have been more cruel on both of us. And I remember that sad look in her eyes when her bowels turned to liquid because too many things were shutting down from cancer. She looked to me for help, similar but weaker to when she had been healthy and looked to me for help. Like because the bed was too high so I made her a staircase of 🛋️ cushions. They ask you for help. You help them. Everyone, everyone we know and ourselves and people we don't know, are going to die eventually. Assisted suicde changes the time and circumstances, not the outcome. This episode was hard on the heart. We don't have many stories that go to the end. Stories end "and they lived happily ever after." They prob did, until they passed away later on. It is so hard: these stories. Because we like to forget this part. Because it is hard At least for people like Ellie and me. Who don't like endings ☹️ the music from Arrival both helped and hurt 😞

Or it could have been something like ALS - anyway, it was a degenerative disease and he didn't want to live without even being able to do simple tasks (like getting in his chair! or painting). He also would have put a tremendous burden on Bill as he got progressively worse. I think the way they went out was the right choice for both (even though it was initially a shock to Bill).

Bill helped Frank stay alive, but Frank showed Bill how to live. Frank loved life, they showed us that throughout the episode. He wouldnt have wanted to die unless he was truely not living. His health had deteriorated so much he knew he couldn't truely be alive, and he was in so much pain. When they met, Bill had a deep, internal pain that Frank helped heal him from, so it's fitting Bill returned that favor in the end.

What was Frank supposed to do? Tell Bill he should kill himself too? It's his life and his decision, but he obviously needed help, as he couldn't even open his pill bag by himself anymore. He wanted to go out on his own terms while he still could. He had a neurodegenerative disease like MS or ALS. His motor functions basically shut off, breathing or even digesting food becomes harder and harder. His life was probably nothing but agony every single day at this point and he also did not want to become more and more of a burden either. I'd rather go out with some dignity too instead of dragging on life just for the sake of it. The same reason is why Bill ended it there as well. Before Frank came into his life he was just surviving. Frank taught him how to actually live, to enjoy things. That's why Bill suddenly was afraid about something now as well, because now he had actually something to lose. They had two decades of a good life and grew old together, and then went out peacefully in each others arms. All that in a world where almost everyone is dead, the remaining living ones live miserably, and typically die miserably too, or even get infected.

I don't know what ailment Frank has, but since he knew there wasn't a cure before the world collapsed, I'd expect it to be genetic, or strong genetic disposition. If seen before, he would likely know "these are the signs. At this point, it's just a matter of time where you will get worse and worse until you die." He stayed past when he knew for sure, then offered Bill the chance to let him leave before he became more a burden than a love. I don't know if I could ask someone I love to do this if I were in Frank's position. But if someone I truly love is in this position, in this world, I don't know with *absolute* certainty, that I could say no. I think, from Frank's perspective, "There is no treatment, I'm just going to get worse. I'm going to drag you down until you finally lose me, I can't put you through that. Let me leave this world, before I am a burden you can't bear" [I've actually been on Bill's side of this conversation for several years. So far I have refused, and she's still alive. Research is still going on, and all hope is not yet lost.]

I stopped watching this episode about halfway through. A decent zombie series is now ruined. The Last of Us has now seen the last of this viewer.

This was a tough episode to watch, and these were just side characters. SPOILERS! I can't imagine how hard Ellie's teenage romance is going to be for some viewers.

@@lud4cr1sx, actually, the love story was 40 minutes long. Such a dissociative relationship with fact and reality is a sure sign of “issues” on your part. And what’s wrong with “a gay story”? It was an excellent episode, the best yet. If you’re so strictly enamored of the game, I suggest you return to your parents’ basement and play it. The adults will continue to enjoy good drama and a good love story.

You truly are just going around to each reactor, watching them watch an episode you hate, just to say trash. That's just sad.

For a man like Frank to want to end his life....he was not being selfish, he was tired. He obviously loved Bill and asked him to die with dignity.🍓♥️🕳️🫂
