The infected aren't corpses. They're not dead. The fungus cant reanimate dead people. So while the dead guy was gross, they weren't in any danger.

I am still wondering if we later find out that unfortunately, Riley was Ellie's first kill when she turned and Ellie didn't turn. More Tears yet to be shed😭 Oh, and I was almost waiting for Ellie to tell Joel, "You're not getting rid of me that easy! I might be just cargo to you, but you're the closest thing to family I've got left!!!"

The game doesn't specifically tell or show you this, and I expect that the show won't either. It's pretty clear that's what happened, so it's sadder for the viewer to think about it then actually showing it.

You should check out the Movie My Girl from 1991. It's a Romance/Drama with Macaulay Culkin, who's played the little Boy in the Home Alone Movies. Also a another Great Movie is Seven Years in Tibet from 1997 with Brad Pitt, it's a Drama/Adventure Movie and I'm think, you gonna like these Movies.
