Not really an Easter Egg, but Ellie points to the mascot and says "Look, Joel, one step closer to your dream." I enjoyed the dual meaning of the sheep ranch, and the dreams of failure that Joel mentioned in his talk with Tommy.

What I actually saw on TikTok is that it definitely has to be Dina because they're directly referencing Part II. During Seattle Day 1 Dina talks about how when she arrived in Jackson she was terrified because there were so many people and Ellie told her how she spent the first week gorging on food since she hadn't been able to eat much before. Then Dina says that she saw her and remembers it. So this is definitely a game reference

15:50 the dog we meet at the dam in Part 1 (and I believe it's the same dog that Ellie pets in Part 2) was named Buckley. While filming the game, Troy Baker's dog, Buckley, passed away. So Druckmann names the dog Buckley in Baker's dog's memory, and for a little surprise for Baker.

I totally abused this power when I first played the game. Near the beginning of my current playthrough, I decided I would try to finish the rest of the game without it. It is actually a 1000 times better to play without the super hearing! You care more about your surroundings and believe it or not makes you more aware of your surroundings in the game. From hear on out, I will not use the hearing at all as it makes it more challenging and realistic!

@@0912sooli Well in real life, if you get shot pretty much anywhere, you can’t fix it with duct tape. Even getting in fist fights is extremely painful and damaging. In the first episode, Joel gets greenstick fractures or stress fractures from beating one guy. Being that any fistfight won’t require much props and just choreography, I think there isn’t much action because it’s more realistic and not because of a budget. I think it makes a lot of sense to avoid conflicts as much as possible. One theory I hope is true is that the directors are being conservative with the action until the last episodes where he’ll go on a rampage.

9:10 yeah, the first game had a number of "deleted scenes". Stuff that they couldn't make work, stuff that was quite far into development but was later trashed for story, pacing reasons, stuff they just didn't have the budget and time for etc. For example: we WERE meant to see the town of Jackson in the first game. They even made concept art for it. But it wasn't feasible because of budget & time constraints. Similarly, the winter dance from Part 2 was supposed to be a full, playable level. It was even quite far into development but was scrapped for pacing. The boar hunt that Ellie writes about in her journal towards the end of the game was also a playable level, but they chose to explore her trauma in a separate way and still included a journal entry about that boar hunt.

Marlon mentions that the Wind River reservation was overrun with infected as well. His actor, Graham Greene, played a police chief of the Wind River reservation (I might be forgetting the exact name of his post, but he was law enforcement) in the 2017 movie, Wind River. That was a nice little reference for me. Wind River is an *excellent* movie. Stars Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Graham Greene, Jon Bernthal. Writer + Director Taylor Sheridan's best work, for sure. Check it out! Be warned, it's a bit of a heavy watch.

I've been giving this episode some thoughts about where things are going. The show has been playing continuing themes upon the ideas and acceptance of fate, the identity that goes with purpose, and the darker part of love. Joel at the end of this episode surrendered control he had denied doing up until this point, he probably thinks he's still going to die, but is enjoying the smaller moments will Ellie until he gets there, this is super part of suicidal level depression where your brain seeks small bits of pleasure where ever you can find it. I suspect the purpose switch will be flipped in the next two episodes and the pump will be primed to meet Joel the monster. When he said 5 years ago he would have destroyed that kid, we're going to meet that version of Joel again, God help the mfer who gets in his way, and it will be damn disturbing.

You’ll like this but it’s mostly story based like watching a movie. You don’t have to do that much but they’re fun. Again like watching a show or movie. I recommend them, very fun.

Just noticed that both Maria and Sarah are African American. This may have some implications on the similarity between Joel and Tommy because though we never see who Sarah's mother is, unless she is adopted, which is deeply unlikely, Joel's absent spouse must've been of African decent too. I know, big brain time here. I don't know how a better TV observer may see things based off of this, with how Joel may see Maria (and Tommy's relationship), I just think this may be important to the narrative some how.

Spoilers That's one of the things I point out to people who call the first game a masterpiece and nit pick the shit out of the second. Oh Joel would never give his name, revenge is bad is a overused lame plot line. Ok so Hardened man who learns to love again isn't an overused plot line? Remember when Joel fell on that rebar and then a 14 year old girl took out a bunch of baddies, found medical supplies, got a large probably over 200lb man off the rebar, stitched him back together, found a large tarp and rope, dragged him onto it, wrapped him up and brought him into a basement of a house and nursed him back to health? LOL I'm really glad they changed it up in the show, because in the game that was nonsense and my biggest nitpick for part 1 of the series.

It is really weird that in a video about easter eggs, he does not mention that the guy who stabbed Joel was played by Troy Baker.

In the game, Ellie steals the photo of Joel and Sarah, to give it to Joel. Maria showed Ellie the photo then she steals it😂😄😁

Idk...I don't know if anyone was scared to say Maria is a different race in the series, maybe it just didn't matter to a lot of people. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Apparently it was an issue for the guy with the glasses...😂 sorry don't know his name.

48:01 Fun Fact here. I just say this because I was born and raised in Colorado. Eastern Colorado is not a real college. University of Northern Colorado in Greeley Colorado is. That’s where they got the inspiration for this university of course. Also a nod to Colorado State and The Rams. Fun fact the city of Greeley has a smell of manure and blood when you enter it. No lie. It’s because that city houses some of the largest slaughterhouses. Look it up lol. It’s gross. I was gonna go to College there but 9/11 and I joined the Army. Became the real Bucky Barnes 😂 🦾

I know the show isn’t identical to the game and I’m not one to complain. Love everything they’re doing but I just felt so strongly against this episode since it is a huge moment in the game and where so much of the relationship between the two is made. The whole university scene was so rush it’s not even funny, we didn’t have to see Joel fight off clickers and a massive amount of hunters while falling off the second floor and being impaled, but one random guy stabs him with the handle of a bat and he’s done just doesn’t give that strong protector of Ellie at all cost. We missed the most important part of that game where Ellie is desperately place in a situation her character has never been that she is protecting YOU as Joel and takes the lead to fight off anyone that come near you guys. In the game just tears at your heart because we are there to keep her safe and we can’t do nothing besides see Joel barely be able to walk and using the wall for support while Ellie is hiding her fear yet we can tell in her voice that she is terrified yet doing everything she can to get you out the school. She is force to fight and kill without thought something the show isn’t showing what they need to do to survive.

Joel wasn’t having health problems. Craig and Neil said on the podcast that he was having panic attacks because of him resisting his growing attachment to Ellie and how this terrified him. I also thought this was obvious. Do better Heavy Spoilers lol

Again please stop being disappointed with the game comparisons and imagine people who've never played TLOU to just enjoy the show. To do a like for like shot of every scene stops it from being an adaptation and just becomes a live action parody which would make it redundant. At the same time I think they've tried to honour the gamers with familiar visuals and characters.

Tommy being a father will be the catalyst for season 2. Abby along with the WLF will attack Jackson for revenge of the St Mary’s massacre. This is where tommy kid will be killed sending him on a revenge mission to Seattle. Like the game he will sneak out and this is where Joel, Ellie, Dina, will head out after him with jesse to follow.
