I liked it a lot. I bet each episode is probably movie length, but had to be edited down. I'm guessing we will see the missing 3 months in a flashback, maybe when Joel is unconscious, or in a coma from the stabbing injury...

Pedro really owned this episode man. That scene where he’s emotionally pleading for Tommy to take Ellie to the fireflies because he’s afraid of getting Ellie killed if he took her himself was heartbreakingly beautiful. I feel like this was better than the game’s version where he aggressively told Tommy to take Ellie and he shoved Tommy for saying no because the show’s version had more emotional depth. Give Pedro all the awards lol.

Joel suffering through PTSD and just can't seem to accept loss anymore and he see's Ellie as a daughter and is very protective of her. When it comes to Tommy it feels like Pedro and Gabriel are real-life brother even though they are not but the chemistry is so natural. HOW, HOW DOES THIS SHOW KEEP GETTING BETTER EVERY EPISODE?!?! If both Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are not nominated for best actor and actress at the next awards season WE RAMPAGE!! This was perhaps my most anticipated episode of the season because it has THE SCENE of Joel and Ellie in the bedroom and I wanted to see more of Jackson. But my god, I didn’t think anything could make me cry more than I did in episode 3 with Bill and Frank, and yet they did it! The scenes of Joel clutching his heart and looking up to see a young woman who almost looks like Sarah, and when he was telling Tommy the truth that he believed that he was going to fail Ellie and get her killed. God I was crying so damn hard, and then when we got to THE SCENE in bedroom I was a complete mess.😭😭😭😭

As much as I loved Pedro's 'I'm not the man I used to be' monologue, my favourite bit of his acting was in the reaction to Ellie bringing up Sarah. It's the most subtle facial expression change but you can gather his entire mood shift just from the small head tilt and eye brow furrow. He goes from calm and measured to angry and shocked within a second. Masterful.

True but there's also these little interactions between Joel and Ellie in the game. Moments where Joel initially pushes Ellie back, but she still ends up finding a way to creep back into his heart. For example: after Joel, Ellie, Sam and Henry escape the sewers, Ellie tells Joel she killed a runner and that Joel would be proud of her. She's clearly looking for validation, but at that time Joel isn't giving it to her. After Henry and Sam's death, they have to work together to cross the dam. Joel gives Ellie a high five at the end, which is Joels way of giving her that validation she was asking for earlier. The whole "Ellie shot a guy with a gun she shouldn't have" is another one of these moments where Joel initially pushes her back, gets mad even, but later on he apologizes in a Joel way: "It was either him or me". He gives her the gun too at the end of this little arc. While I don't think that the bond between tv series Joel and Ellie is unnatural, it's these moments that would make their relationship stronger and the emotional scenes much heavier imo.
@Gregor_Von_DOOM
@Gregor_Von_DOOM Жыл бұрын
@@Jorge-ob1iu yeah I remember the interactions and optional dialogue. Some are still present but I think it was replaced with the writing of Joel having actual PTSD and the way he speaks to Ellie. After the truck crashes (something that also happened with his daughter) he keeps asking if she's ok or hurt. In the woods he was too honest and harsh by saying if people found them they would do worse than rob them, you could tell it scared her then after they shared a moment with the pun book he did what he should have done in a parental role by lying to her nobody would find them. He had been slowly opening up to her and I think the show presented her "validation" as a person rather than just being cargo when she was speaking to Henry about how Joel puts up a tough exterior but "I'm gonna ask you a bunch of times". All while smiling. It's not the high five but it's still sorta the same.

I've dealt with panic attacks for years and Joel's are like spot on whats helping him get out of the panic attacks are by distractions Ellie shouting, the dog barking, thinking he saw his daughter. Distractions are real ways to help get out of panic attacks if I was at home I'd grab a buch of ice put it on me try and get me distracted and to snap out of it when I'm out I always carry some hot sauce packets or sour stuff to snap me out of it and that helps it's nice to see how accurate that is and the symptoms are good as well its really well done.

My heart is still racing. I can't believe how each episode they KNOCK IT OUT OF THE FREAKING PARK! I have so many traumas from this game and I love the game characters so much but man these people are so perfectly casted I'm loving the live action sooo much more it gives it so much depth to the source material/game!!! My heart went through a Rollercoaster of emotions. From the set up for S2, the town, Tommy and Joel relationship and how real it feels, María, the houses, the town!!! Again bc it's so perfectly done, the characters that popped that will be in s2!, the university C'MON! My heart it's so happy and SO FUCKING SAD at the same time. Pedro did such an amazing job this episode. Showing the ptsd and also being vulnerable showing a softer side and that honesty with Tommy. I love love their relationship here, it feels so real and so deep. I love it all. I have so many feelings I just written the ones that come to mind bc I'm still processing how good and painful( knowing what I know...) this episode was!!! I have so many emotions!!!!

This needed to be 12 episodes. I agree with Greg. Much of the bonding is through combat, barely making it through clickers, random enemies. I feel like we should’ve had 1 more episode of them traveling and surviving prior to what we got in this episode. Loving this show, I just feel like it’s condensing down their relationship due to the time constraints of only having 9 episodes.

@@matthewbarry9603 The Walking Dead got old bc AMC wanted to cash in on its popularity and started making 'longer' seasons that were divided into 2 actual seasons, where the majority of episodes are just treading water and keeping the plot from moving forward at all, "shockingly" killing ppl off to keep the audience's attention. It wasnt about the number of episodes specifically but that nothing was rly allowed to happen for long stretches until everything happens in a "mid-season finale" and then a season finale, and 'things happening' was usually just who and how many ppl are gonna die. All the Walking Dead's season finales was like comic book companies releasing a ton of #1 issues bc #1 sells more. It was oversaturation of the series with not enough plot to fit into all of the episodes. The Last of Us is totally the opposite thing: there's a lot of plot happening at a very rapid pace and there's not that many moments to just sit and breathe with the characters.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I liked that Joel didn't get impaled, I was discussing this with a friend the other day and we both thought it was too unrealistic to survive that wound. In the game it obviously doesn't matter, but in the show it would have been a bit too much I think

Pedro Pascual killed this acting as a Joel. Never seen such a good actor played it so well like he's been through some shit and we can genuinely feel how he felt. His ship with Ellie is true and you can't separate these the now.

I could not be happier with what they have done so far. Bella, Pedro, Gabriel, they have done literally everything right even with the creative choices. I don’t care that Joel’s turn-around decision to take Ellie seemed rushed because the game required you to rescue her, I got to see them bond longer before “Winter”. In my opinion, the only thing they had to do was nail the bedroom scene, and they did, I cried. 6 episodes out of 9, and this show is the best and smartest game adaption I have ever seen. I said it before, a lot of you owe Bella an apology, she is literally Ellie, and she is giving a performance that should be nominated. Her reaction to Sam being killed and Henry dying shook me to my core.

Joel having PTSD for loosing Sarah and now being scared af of losing Ellie, man that convo with Tommy made me emotional. The "you have no idea what loss is" dialogue was executed to PERFECTION, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are fucking killing it, they did exactly the same. Oh yeah, THE TOWN FROM TLOU 2?! HELLO, YES!
