When i first saw this, i couldnt tell they were panic attacks. I had panic attacks when I was a teen and they always developed more slowly and went away slowly. Never just suddenly came on and suddenly stopped. So i thought this was a heart prob.

I don’t play the game, but it does seem like they could have made that fight scene better.. he still could have been impaled the simple way, but why not still have both of them have to fight off a few people or clickers?

@@DesireeDanae It's still a show so it's not going to be fully realistic but it's always been that way including how the cordyceps infection works. There have been infected outside the city like the one Ellie killed and the Cody tower was overrun as mentioned in this episode. Infected being in heavily populated areas makes more sense too. The sniper that Joel took was being used by someone stationed there previously so why wouldn't there be ammo? We don't really know how cold it is to say they couldn't survive but they built a fire and stayed in a cave. It's better to think of it like they're playing on the Grounded difficulty basically.

Loved this episode. The actors absolutely killed it in this one. So glad they let Joel finally show some emotions and they did a great job showing what PTSD can do to someone. Btw that was a period cup for Ellie. Next episode is the Left Behind DLC

A 56 year old man already struggling with his health cannot realistically be impaled by rusty rebar and survive in a world without medical help. There are levels of suspension of disbelief, but that would lean too heavily into cartoonish for this particular show version.

Rutina Wesley (Maria)is one of my favorite actresses she played in true blood as Tara and on a episode or 2 of the walking dead she played michones best friend who ends up going crazy and tries to kill michone well she’s pregnant also love Pedro and Bella both are such incredible actors I just found out last year Bella Ramsey is actually 19 in real life so seeing her play a 14yr old is wow so good.

Y’all were hating on Maria so bad for no reason when she was being realistic considering the only thing she knows is what Tommy told her. It’s not bad that they’re adding little hints of season 2 like showing dina because in the second game they do mention how Dina saw her when Ellie first ever arrived and it’s nice to see them adding details we have only heard about, a 50 year old man with heart problems cannot survive being impaled like he was in the game it was not realistic and neither was in the game there’s no way for someone to survive that so it’s good that they changed it because adding it just makes the series look unserious and cartoonish

The reason they didn't do the rebar impalement like in the game, is because they didn't want look similar to TWD when Rick fell on rebar. Also, in reality a human being probably would not survive the fall from that height let alone being impaled like it is in the game.

Yes I was going to mention this. While it does work in the game, even when I played that segment, I legit thought Joel died especially when we shifted to playing as Ellie. Realistically falling from that height and landing on rebar like that especially with that injury not being treated immediately causes severe infection and in most cases death. So seeing Joel come back from it and being able to take down two guys like nothing (while badass) did not feel realistic. Changing it to being stabbed by the broken piece of a bat works better. Sure it is still a severe injury but a bit more easier to accept.

yes it is rumored that they were going to make dina appear to hint for the next season so that it’s most probably her especially since in the second game dina mentions how she saw ellie in the dining place when she first ever came and yes it’s the same place and it was winter time not spring. also i’m glad they changed the last part because how he got impaled in the game wasn’t realistic and he couldn’t really survive that if it were to happen in real life. you keep asking why they keep adding some stuff but they were in the game i just don’t think any of you remember 😭

I really understand why Joel was mad...when Tommy realized he was safe he could've messaged his brother and let him know that he was safe...but no decided to go no contact with him, so obviously Joel is gonna get worried and try to find him because that's what he seems to be doing his whole life protect Tommy 🤷🏾‍♀️

Much of the university is very much like a video game with its many sidequest and, IIRC, our first encounter with a Bloater. They don't meet Fireflies at the university in the game, so why spend a lot of time here? Fleshing out Kansas City and making that an epic fall out allowed for this episode to show more of Maria and Tommy's place. While we might not have had a chance to see much of it in the game, we can assume it was there--there's no way they built all the new places we experience in the second game in just four years. Anyway, next week and what follows should be wild. I cannot wait!

this episode was super super rushed considering it's some of the most important scenes in the game

man they are missing the mark left and right. how did they skip all the iconic scene in the game ? starting from the epic hotel scene , the bill and manuvering through his bobbie tarp town, creeping through the raider city with sam and Henry plus that whole sewer scene when the kids get swapped and we cant forget the the turning point scene of Ellie running away because she feels unwanted and dont get me started on the underwhelming college scene. they are trying to make the show so realistic to the point its not believable. no runners or clickers anywhere, only in the city is crazy. at the end of the day this is a zombie show that should feel intense, gritty, and heartbreaking but the show turned it into this rushed underwhelming story. this episode is a 5 at best for me.
