As someone who loves and has played every version of the game (ps3, remastered, part II, part I) this was amazing, sure Bella Ramsey doesn’t look exactly like Ellie, but i feel like she matched her energy pretty perfectly imo, also I enjoy how this exists also for people who don’t play video games like older folk and such. That way a more wide audience can experience this amazing story.

Those shows/films were great, but I think what separates them from TLOU is none of them are actual adaptations of the games, sure they are connected, but they don't follow the same storyline, which in my opinion is what an adaptation should be. So while those shows were great, they don't fall under the category of adaptation for me, despite them being based of the actual video games.

I mean the showrunner is Craig Mazin and he's been a huge fan of the games ever since the first one came out, he's wanted to make this for years. It's fortunate he knocked Chernobyl out of the park for HBO, because it's definitely why they're giving him the budget and creative control he has here. I’ll start off with a criticism and then end on what I like. Some of the actors don’t quite look like their characters. Ellie for example doesn’t look very much like video game Ellie. But Pedro Pascal suits Joel just fine. Really, as long as the actors do a good job at portraying their characters, this is a minor issue. Other than that, I loved everything about this trailer. The scene of the broken skyscrapers looks just like it does in the game, which is amazing. I like the small clip of Joel holding Sarah. Pedro Pascal has given me high hopes. The clickers look amazing. And I love the song choice for the trailer. It’s the song that plays in the first game when Joel hits the hunter with the truck in Pittsburgh. All in all, my hopes are high

I just saw season 1, my god what an emotional ride, this is THE greatest series I’ve seen based on this genre.. I never cried like I’ve cried before watching certain episodes. The couple that grew old together brought me to my knees in tears. What an incredible love story!! I have to give to all the actors involved, boy did they give it their all.. the first episode had me in tears when his daughter died. You can’t be cold hearted saying this series is woke, or whatever crap ppl come up with.. this series is incredible! The tension killed me, but man, this is what Walking Dead was supposed to be.. this is the tension you expected. What a frighteningly beautiful, but horrifying series. I love how they involved so many details.

Since the first season is seemingly going to be the entirety of the first game (as it should be), the best option for the show in my opinion would be to not follow it up with the entirety of the second game in season 2, but rather use the flashbacks of both Ellie and Abby and build a narrative around that until the season culminates in the ending of the prologue of the second game (you know which traumatic scene I'm talking about). Then, season 3 can be about the second game. By that time, the storyline of the third game will probably have been developed and they can focus season(s) 4 and 5 on exploring that narrative. Depending on how the third game ends, this could be a good time to end the show and the game series about Ellie, Joel and Abby. This is the only way I see it going without having the show catch up with the games too quickly.

Taking into consideration all the ways this story could go wrong, it is a true breath of fresh air that this looks so like the game. The story is perfect as it is; it doesn´t need new plot twists, surprises characters, AND PLEASE GOD not a different ending. It could be really nice if it includes some flashbacks to events not in the game. Besides, it would be really nice for people who can´t play games due to health reasons (epilepsy maybe)to enjoy this spectacular story and experience, just as it was told in the game. Looking forward to this.
