My strategy exactly and if you have the proper angle he kicks them off the bus quicker and they die. Great strategy. I also didn't realize I don't have to wait for them to open the school window, not sure if you have to check the door first but I always do and then you can open the window as Joel. I always would wait for them to open it and played it 29 times before realizing I could do it lol

Survivor mode is unreal. This is what the game was meant to be like. Supplies are so scare, I have almost no hope of ever finding anything no matter how many drawers and cabinets or bodies I search. Supplies are so rare, and the AI just turns turns insane, flanking. Distracting ambushing. And the part towards the end of the seers when Joel has Sam and Henry has Ellie, the infected runners were so intelligent, they constantly screwed with me and crept up, and several in the distance would run back and forth, playing with headphones and having those subtle bass drops and lows, man it's just insane the tension level. I wish normal played more like survivor, the AI is incredibly smart and aggressive on survivor, I can't imagine grounded. Plus I'm not sure if it's me but I feel like in addition to reduced supplies there are more enemies everywhere, and they take more damage, sometimes 9 normal mallee hits. It's crazy.

Dude I have 11 shotgun shells, 8 arrows, 7 rifle bullets, 4 revolver and 7 9mm and 2 molotovs. And its on survivor, if it wasn't... Wtf would be the point of playing it? I wouldn't get the trophy, I wouldn't get the outfits, and I wouldn't get the satisfaction of beating TLOU on the hardest difficulty, (grounded doesnt count since its DLC)

totally agreed! I was just watching a walk-through on normal and it was so damn easy I couldn't believe anyone even bothered! Came straight here to be reminded of how I use to play it, stealth, not running in all guns blazing, where's the challenge/realism in that? Survivor is the way it was meant to be played, intense, shocking, challenging, and fun, all at the same time, a true ride.

Even in shiv doors there is few bullets if any. But I always found some when I needed it or ellie would give it to me randomly on survivor which surprised me. She also will give you health when needed in the heat of battle. I think my last play I crafted maybe 5 health kits, and 17 molotovs, they are more useful when health can be found or given to you.

in certain areas, you can stealth past enemies. in others such as the one where you meet your first bloater, you have to kill them all. I'm playing through it now and sometimes I find it easier to just sprint to the next door or checkpoint (sniper section)

Most difficult part in the game I believe is when playing as Ellie when you have to defend yourself alongside David against the waves of infected including a bloater. One step too far in a certain direction gets you in harm's way rather quickly and positioning, aim and swiftness are key to success there.

Sorry, Got to disagree. When you are escaping from Dvid as Ellie in the blizzard with nothing but the knife, that is the most challenging part. Honourable mentions: What you said as well as the firefly lab corridors with tons of guys in each, All with sniper or assault rifles.

On any other difficulty I am overloaded with supplies, on this difficulty the pickings are scarce, but it's fun. A definite challenge but I died less than other modes perhaps because I am much more cautious.

This is one of the few videos that I've seen where the player stays in the bridge/hallway during the Ellie/David/Infected boss fight. Seriously, why do so many people start a moshpit in a confined room when they only have long-range weapons? Just take out the first 5 enemies as they charge down the hallway, then camp at the end of the hallway yourself. You only have to watch out for three more runners that drop from the hallway roof. Every other enemy spawns in the room and will have to funnel themselves down the length of the hallway while you calmly take aim from a safe distance.

The most irritating thing about the Survivor difficulty in this game is that it is practically impossible to perform a stealth take down on an infected until and unless they are immobile. If they are moving they will hear you no matter how slowly you move your character, but if they are standing in one place then you can literally dance around them. The Ordinary Infected and Runners hear you better than Clickers and Bloaters, and the latter are supposed to be blind and have sharp hearing.

I find that there are passages a little too "nag" for a survivor mode. I would sometimes expect to have some tips or strategies that consist of saving ammo, like for example this part at 23:28 , where it is possible to do it by stealth taking out enemies that come down by getting under the catwalk. Instead, I see it ends in a shootout where all the ammo is thrown at the enemies.

This guy is obviously playing on plus mode. Try standard survival or grounded using these tactics without maxed out weapons. You'd never survive. On standard survival you have to survive with very few items and passing sections without using them.

for the infinite shivs (well not infinite because you can only hold 3), you need to have a non upgraded melee weapon and just another random melee weapon on the ground. you upgrade the melee weapon then switch out for the one on the ground, then switch back to the one you originally had. it should give you another full blade and binding. I wish I could record it but I don't have a capture card lol. you could probably find a video on youtube

Another thing i learned, especially on the harder difficulties, when being ambushed by infect, running around in circles taking them out w/ a bottle/brick grab kill works. Even w/ clickers. Throw shit at em, and grab. But, remember, make sure you have shivs before grabbing a clicker lol. Bloaters, now they're even easier to kill to me. Explosives from a distance helps. Or, w/ the flamethrower, blast em w/ that then quickly swap weapons, and shoot it a couple times as he's going ape shit from fire. I do that a lot during the under ground tunnel chapter, all while never taking damage. It's Fuckin' fun. :). Btw, a lot of u guy comments had some great strategies. Thx ppl

Moltovs work best with Bloaters. You mat need 2 to 3 Moltovs to kill a Bloater but one single Moltov takes the spore bombs out of the equation.

On Grounded mode, pause the game, go to options then game, change the difficulty to easy but do not press a button, then change it back to grounded, then press options or start. Play through the game and all the supplies from easy mode will now be in grounded mode. Of course it's still 2/3 hit kill from enemies though and 1/2 for infected.

I just finished this game on survivor and the 2 hardest parts for me that I spent forever on was the sewer part where there’s like 15 sneakers and you and Sam are alone and have to fight them, and the second part was the David boss fight in the eatery.

you don't need to fight those runners, you can stealth your way towards the ladder evading the patrols, take out that clicker with an arrow and done.

I just did the sewer part where you're alone with Sam on Survivor difficulty, and as long as you stay near the entrance you can lure the Infected to attack you one at a time. When they each attack just shoot the Clicker and melee all the Stalkers.

If you mean the section where you're alone with Sam, just stay near the entrance and the Infected will attack you one at a time. Shoot the Clicker, and melee the Stalkers. Takes a while but it works.

for the hotel area (10:50 in this video), you just need to follow the arrows on the walls. so I went to the window on the side (not the one he went through in this video), strangled a guy so he could drop his melee (which let's you do the infinite shiv glitch), went upstairs, strangled one guy after the two guys talk and one goes through the hallway, then snuck around to the elevators upstairs. I killed 2 guys lol

The Sewer level, near the end where you have the last stand, that is bullshit difficult. I had 2 revolver rounds, 3 9mm rounds and 1 pistol shotgun shell and a single molotov to last me. I tried standing on the table and just holding out but I would always get one slapped because I had like a tiny bit of health. After countless tries I finally managed to make it out of that door. I threw the molotov at the first group of infected and if any made it throw I shot but saved whatever I had for the clickers. I then switched to my Shorty and took out a runner and then my 9mm for a clicker but it didn't kill it. I didn't know what to do so I ran around the table and smashed the clicker round the face with a pipe and turned around and beat the shit out of a runner then the door opened and I ran over to it and the cinematic cut in. I was so happy and screamed 'YOU CAN SUCK MA DICK!' So happy, now the university *-* The annoying thing is I have to do this again for survivor mode plus, fml.

I'm currently going through Grounded mode and this guide is nonsense. I have a max of 8 bullets by chapter 4 and the way you waste them is silly. Using your gun is a last resort.

the core base of this game - you fight then you absolutely need to fight, and then you can stelth you always stelth. don't waste ammo on human-enemies watsoever. master the bow. don't craft healtkits, save supplies for molotovs, and use them only on bloaters (and that part on the end of the sewers).

This definitely doesn’t also apply to grounded mode. The enemies are more keen to spotting you. You have less ammunition. There might be more enemies in some areas too, unless the numbers of enemies don’t change from survival, crushing, grounded, etc.

+Underrated Critic, i agree with. They're other way also. Now, in the outskirts-downtown, you can knock off all the runners, even the clicker, w/o using bullets. Stealth killing the 1st is easy. The 2nd walks rounds in the room way to the left. Wait til he walks out, sneak in until he comes back in, then BAM stealth kill. The clicker, grab a brick, sneak up in front of him and brick the shit outta him. That'll draw the other runner(s) out. Just quickly grab a throwing item at em, grab n stomp. If another one comes, do the same, or Mike Tyson his ass :). I learned a lot of pro strategies from the girl Queenie on KZbin. She's a fuckin' pro. Amway, thx for the upload. -LIKED

The first bloater on survivor, you have a the very best 1 molotov. Showing a +game is kinda pointless. You threw 2-3 molotov/bomb (bomb which you don't have yet if I remember) to kill it.

When fighting the first Bloater, if you run out of ammo, eventually another Runner will enter the gym, dropping some ammo when you kill them - this is the game trying to help you by giving you more ammo to kill the Bloater. At least this happened on Hard, not sure if it happens on Survivor/Grounded.

I just did it, the trick is to start moving from cover as soon as possible. A couple of times he even glitches and just stood in the door. Also after getting the runner at 4:15 move to your left into cover and use the same strategy to get the runner that circles around the clicker moving out as soon as he turns.

Hi all can any one help me !!! I passed the game on survivor mode and it opened up survivor + mode that's fine,, my problem is I played the plus mode for about 3 days and I got half way tru the game and I used up my dam shives at the start of the game, so as I was going along the first half of the game I couldn't open up the secret doors becouse I had no shives to open them ,,, I got tru half the game and still no shives now I missed out on 5 yes 5 secret doors that's a lot of stuff, no I made a disition to try and restart the game on plus mode and to hang on to the shives to open the doors i missed and I can't !!! I did try and when I got to the first work bench all my upgrades were not there form the time I passed it on the ordenary survivor ,, can any one help me ?

It's a nice video But +game is always easy to play in any mode if you are playing a fresh new game and want to complete the game 100% then you just can't run away from enemies all the time sometimes you have to kill all of them so that you can run around the area to collect all the supplements and tools for the upgrades and all collectibles.

Kyle Cusworth No doubt. Well I guess it made me earn the grounded+ and grounded trophy when I finally did beat it. Like I didn't cheese the financial district like the guy did in the video. But damn did that part take a while! There's multiple ways to get through each battle do it's not like you gotta do exactly this guy was doing. I just played through the game on survivor+ and it's easy AF. I always have bullets to kill every enemy.

I really jumped into grounded mode too quickly. Like before the bloater in the High School with Bill I must have dies 30+ times. It's alot more difficult than people think. I'm determined to get through it though.

Kyle Cusworth Honestly it wasn't that hard for me mostly because my first ever play through on the original last of us was on Hard mode. Plus being a huge fan of stealth games like mgs and splinter cell really makes my skills at stealth and aiming way better. You would be amazed how well running away and hiding is. Always try to get by an area without engaging in combat if you can and never craft health kits (since you're pretty much gonna die after 2 shots anyways). For the final level have at least 1 smoke bomb so you can use it at the last area. When I played through I conserved all my ammo and supplies for big battles (only seemed to use them for escaping the sewers when it's you and henry fighting infected as the kids try to open the door and then the hospital, but I only used strangling, nail bombs and smoke bombs. I was fucking amazed that I was able to get by the huge hoard of infected in the bus depot without fighting. I probably used every brick and bottle to get by and then used a couple smoke bombs right before getting over the bus. It's a lot of trial and error but man is it awesome once you complete it! XD

***** good advice man. I too absolutely love the MGS franchise and the stealth in that probably helped alot to be fair. I agree with the health kits, they are a waste when you can die after two or three hits. I will have to conserve as much ammo as possible!
