One thing about Joel that is remarkable in the game, is that it gives the "you have no idea who you're put yourself against" vibe, and gives a much bigger sense on why Ellie feels safe with him. The bonding is extremely powerful in the game too, only game where i personally felt this kind of bond was "Beyond: Two Souls", where you can see it happen in a similar fashion with Jodie and Aiden.

Yeah I agree. I think between the less thick accent and the less gunfights Joel felt more “normal” in the show.

@@scopecreep_ I just played TLOU Remastered again for the 15th time (literally). Would you say it's worth re-experiencing the game again with TLOU Part 1?

@@kitsapdrummer it really depends. If you’re a graphics guy, then it’s basically one of the best looking games you can buy right now on any platform. If you’re someone who gets annoyed by constant remakes and remasters, and thinks story and gameplay is the only thing that matters, you might feel a bit cheated by the asking price

I recently played TLOU 1. Just as books are better than the movies The game is better than the show.

Yeah I think it’s 100% analogous. It’s sort of an HP situation to me where the movies are great but I prefer the books, vs an Uncharted situation where the Movie is not even close lol.

@@scopecreep_ I'm not saying the show couldn't work with the changes. I personally think that the whole season would've greatly benefited from more episodes. Bill & Franks story was too perfect for literally being in a post-apocalyptic world. I don't remember Joel & Bill so much as having beers together, let alone double date in a self sustainable paradise. Hell, Joel didn't even know who Frank was, so the two likely met between their last meet up with Joe & Tess. I'd make some simple changes. No Hallmark paradise. The relationship could still exist, but ain't no way in hell two men could maintain an entire town's defenses for years, let alone 20. They should've had them lose parts of the town to infected over the years. Frank would want to reclaim the town, but Bill would be too set on turning their immediate housing into Fort Knox. They argue, Bill would have mentioned they need a functional car battery for any way to escape the towns infected & relocate, but be too apprehensive to risk it all to get it. Frank could get it, get infected. Either follow the games route, having Bill, Joel & Ellie discover Franks body Or Frank could get the battery, return to Bill and show the bite. They could have some last moments with each other before Frank's death. Have Bill bury Frank in the hole they met in & plant a strawberry garden as a grave marker. Bill could either fall deep into being selfish & paranoid, or depressed, feeling empty. Henry & Sam's story also radically changes. Obviously in the game, they're refugees from the Hartford QZ, separated from their group in a city full of Hunters & infected, with goals to join the Fireflies Ellie & Sam are about the same age, becoming fast friends & sharing a lot of similar interests. Some would argue there were some boy/girl next door vibes, if you know what I mean. The setting changes from Pittsburg QZ to Kansas City QZ. Henry turns to a FEDRA informant that betrayed the local rebels. Sam is younger than Ellie by at least several years. Sam is also deaf to quote "Need to rely on Henry even more". Which is a direct contrast to Game Sam who wanted to be seen with more respect from his brother, like Joel grows to respect & rely on Ellie. Sam is also deaf, which is good for representation, but a clear handicap on his survival capacity. I have no problems at all with deaf characters, nor deaf people. But then they reveal the reason Henry ratted for FEDRA was because his brother got leukemia, a cancer that would take 2 years minimum to treat to remission. Why? Why didn't they make him blind & a paraplegic while they're at it?(sarcasm) I'd simply rework the show story with Henry ratting out the rebels for Sam to get a Cochlear Implant, which could let him hear, in a world where raiders & infected could appear from any corner, hearing would be incredibly useful. Hell, in the game, there's a Listen Mode mechanic for crying out loud. Now people might find it ablist to force a deaf character with a controversial medical device, and that is entirely debatable. But here's the thing. Cochlear Implants burn through batteries, which would likely be rare as hell 20 years into an apocalypse. By gifting Sam hearing, Henry would doom them both for little to nothing, and had he accepted Sam's disability in its entirety, they'd never would've been hunted down. They also made David an imposing monster off the bat rather than a wolf in sheep's clothing. Show David might as well have a twirly mustache with a cat to pet, whereas Game David could've been anything they wanted. He could easily been a man scared of the monsters he barely commands, only wishing to escape with his own family from a frozen hell. Of course, he instead ended up the leader of cannibals and a paedophile, so 🔪😵 I liked the last episode the best, but hated how they explained Ellie's immunity. By their explanation, the infected should just leave her alone. Also, I don't care if they said they could 100% make a cure. 1) I don't trust Jerry's ass worth a damn. Dude only is confirmed to have a bachelor's degree in biology, in the games at least. 2) Brain biopsies are a thing. Same with craniotomy. Hell, a human being could survive with literally half a brain. Either the Fireflies don't have the necessary equipment to do those procedures, or Jerry isn't a qualified neurosurgeon to perform the operation. 3) The Fireflies did under a month of research on Ellie's immunity & came to the answer of an autopsy essentially. Joel did the right thing by killing his impatient ass. It takes years to make vaccines for viruses. You won't be able to whip up some vaccines for a fungus(To which our current world has yet to even do) in however long they'd take, especially when you kill the host, which would likely take the fungus with it. Real Cordyceps needs a host to be alive in some capacity to survive & spread spores. In conclusion, Joel did nothing wrong. He saved a non-consenting 14yr old girl's life from a quack surgeon.

I'm not huge on it. But it's by no means shitty but I think this random youtubers video (no offense) explained what I've been trying to explain to my dad who I watched it with. Anyone who enjoyed the show as much as they supposedly did need to play the game and realise that some stories are better when experienced like a game than shown in a rushed TV show.
