First off, Katie I love the hair color. Looks great. Secondly, love me some Hyperion. Even with some of its flaws, it's pretty high level Sci-fi. You all provide the most thorough analysis of this book in the most entertaining and thought provoking way. I appreciate the work, keep it up!

It's important to remember that the book is modeled after the Canterbury Tales which is an unfinished work. Also the poem Hyperion by John Keats is also unfinished. So also the story here stops before it is finished. ---

I'm one of those people who enjoys hearing someone else tell a story in a shortened format, rather than reading/watching it myself. This series has been really enjoyable and fun to listen to. Thanks =)

Great analysis guys! 6 one-hourish videos, it was quite an epic journey, like the book. Stumbled on these videos by chance and became a fan, you really fleshed out one of my favourite books ever. Awaiting the review of the next one. I think I'll steal the tattoo's idea in the meantime

The dolphins missing the sharks was so sinister to me because if you know anything about real sharks and real dolphins in the wild you know sharks are actually pretty chill and dolphins are known to be active, deliberate bullies towards other marine life, including sharks

So the Hypiroin Canto is my favorite series and I keep coming back too, I hope you do the rest. I agree that the Consul's tale is one of the weaker ones, but there are a few things that I think you missed. Merin is a pretty bad character but to give him some credit, he had already planted the bombs to blow up the Farcaster before he came down to the planet the last time. So when Siri gave him her message, he had already decided that he was going to fight against the hegemony. I think it was supposed to be the fact that the last time when Siri was questioning him about what would happen to all of them, it forced him to actually realize what would happen to the world he was colonizing; and therefore destroying all the things that he had come to love, such as the dolphins and Siri. Also, the Consul was sent to the Austers by the Hegemony because he had played the long game and been trusted by the Hegemony. He then did come to appreciate the Austers but couldn't forgive them for killing his family on Bressia, so he decides to burn it all. (Note I'm a dyslexic audiobook reader, so spell check helps with real words but I may have gotten names spelled wrong) I'm so glad I found this channel watching the review of Nona, which I had just finished, and I was so excited to see this series. I've subbed and can't wait to see more of your reviews, and I hope you finish the last 3 books, even if you can't go as in-depth. I do think that the 3rd and 4th books are good but they are a different story.

Your Hyperion reviews got me reading the book and I thought it was awesome (both the book and the review :D). I'm halfway through the second one as we speak and I hope you'll review the rest in the series. The Consul's tale was my least favourite as well, even if I can agree that it ties in very well with the rest and gives a very zoomed-out view of the Hegemony and how they're not really the good guys we assumed in the beginning. As for the ending, I thought it was perfectly fitted to the book and hilarious to imagine all 6 of them holding hands and singing "We're off to see the Wizard". I'm just glad the other books in the series are available to read, otherwise I would have joined Katie in revolt.
