Or atleast was willing to fight for the position (Scheme and steal is more like it) This film is likely Mufasa's own coming-of-age story of how he courageously earned the title. Maybe perhaps Mufasa and Scar both founded pride rock.

This white lion plans to force one lion king to rule all tribes but Mufasa by uniting them to not rule them but save them may earn all the respect and they agree to let him be the one true king while Taka could feel like his whole place in this adventure wasn't properly recognized

I found the 2019 Lion King Remake to be okay like a 6/10. But this has me one has me a lot more excited: - 1) Its an original story 2) The lions have more emotions 3) Kiros, the white lion villain looks freaking cool. 4) The CGI of the scenery looks incredible. But also some concerns: - 1) The voices do feel a bit off. 2) Taka is portrayed very light hearted and goofy so I hope they are able to make his fall from grace be more gradual and heart-breaking.

1:48. To turn this to an argument, in the first trailer, Rafiki describes Mufasa as "without a drop of nobility in his blood." We also see in the poster for the movie that Mufasa is an orphan, an outsider and a king. Your argument can make sense if Mufasa and Taka are from different bloodlines which you are saying here so this comment doesn't make sense. Maybe the lion being described as "without a drop of nobility in his blood," is Kiros who leads the white lions. That's the only way this whole thing can make sense

This is how i see the movie 1. kyros and the white lion pride go around userping prides to become this sort of totalitarian leader over the pridelands 2. he does this to mufasa pride hence hem being thrown into a river and drifting off miles away 3. taka finds him and takes him to his pride where the grow up together 4. kryros eventually finds this pride years later and he takes it down too 5. taka and mufasa flee to the mountains where they find sarabi's tribe 6. taka wants the stay and keep running mufasa wants to fight 7. a love triangle (more of a line) forms between the brothers and sarabi. taka likes sarabi and sarabi likes mufasa 8. using the forces of sarabis tribe theres a final battle between our heros and the white lions 9. taka saves mufasa from kyros during the fight and earns his famous scar. 10. mufasa takes kyros down and is crowned a hero 11. he become king of the now unifed pridelands 12. he marries sarabi and gets all the honor and reconition from the war 13. taka gets nothing for his bravery besides a nickname mocking his injury and (greatest insecurity) even though he has royal blood and mufasa doesn't. 14. this starts takas fall from grace

@BAdtnl They don't copy anything, it's savannah. In the savanna, there are rivers of crocodiles. Lions often face crocodiles. At first they enter the water to cross the river, then they come face to face with the crocodiles, they panic, they try to escape from the jaws of the crocodiles and an epic battle ensues. Watch documentaries and short videos on KZbin. No copy at all. And if Disney wants to, it can keep putting in crocodile ponds. Also, maybe in other movies with savannahs and lions they use the same setting in their way because it's savannah. An author writing about lions may use the same setting as his own battle performance. Canyons, lakes, acacias, rocks, African animals, these can all be used by anyone doing an animal and savannah themed project. If someone writes in his novel that Tsamudi the Lion climbed a canyon and his son helped him to the top, it does not mean he copied Scar and Mufasa.

The only issue with the 2019 version is that it’s retelling a story that’s been told before and the photo realistic animals weren’t expressive enough, those things seem to have been fixed in Mufusa so I’m fairly optimistic about it and so far it’s looks like it’s going to be pretty good.

Honestly, the idea of Mufasa being adopted, becoming king instead of Scar despite Scar being the natural heir, and then Mufasa having a son to be the next heir before Scar would make Scar's excessive bitterness towards Mufasa make sense. If Mufasa wasn't adopted, I think Scar would've been okay with the idea of Mufasa being King before him as well as having an heir.

Even if one wants to resist, the trailer looks epic. Well, that's not what I imagined Mufasa's origin story would be like (but it's only in his live-action version), I'll have to wait and see, although it will be great to see how he meets his allies: Rafiki, Zazu and Sarabi. Another thing they did choose a good actor for the voice of Mufasa young adult, he sounded good like James Earl Jones. See more landscapes is awesome, even though as far as I believed, I thought Mufasa never left PrideLands, and seeing Scar being lighthearted and goofy, a bit doesn't fit or convince me, I hope it explains how he fell into the darkness and his breakup with Mufasa, if it was like that. I guess it's too late to ask them to rewrite something 1:50 I hope the movie explains this line 2:35 come on, I do expect see scenes in the present *Something I think is that in Lion King 2, before meeting Kovu, Kiara still didn't know anything about her grandfather Mufasa and the whole story, also about her dad, she was still little.

I think the family of taka isnt living at the pride rock. Takas pride is from somewhere else. So Taka isnt the rightful king of pride rock. And the white lions destroyed his original pride. Then taka and mufasa found the pride rock and maybe thats the original home of Mufasa which they wanted to find again after Takas home was taken over

I absolutely loved the 2019 movie, because it was beautiful and the emoting didn’t bother me as much as it did everyone else-I usually watch things like Savage Kingdom, so the movie felt at home with me. They looked like real lions and I loved that. And now Disney’s making a remake prequel with its own story? Phenomenal! I just hope it isn’t met with the same level of hate that the first one did, because it kind of ruins the whimsy that the movies have. Also that it beats Wish. Mufasa got swept down river at the beginning, meaning he was lost, his pride is probably at Priderock.. or somewhere else. Taka's (Scars) family is living by a Giant Tree, which I'm thinking it's the Tree of Life from Kion: The Lion Guard, where scar gets the roar power from the ancestors. Mufasa takes over as the one and only king after defeating the white lions.

I'm excited for this movie! It's a story that's never been told before and one alot of Lion King fans have waited for, for a long time! Not only is it a new story being told, but the expressions in there faces are way better then the 1st movie. When the 1st movie was announced, as big of a lion king fan as I am, I was not excited to see the remake. I just really hope this new story will answer alot of questions and not ruin the whole franchise. The lion guard was a very interesting take, and is canon! So it's gonna be strange if any part of the lion guard isn't mention in this film. Doesn't have to be a big part, just there.

I have a theory, and its outlandish at best, but it would make for a great plotline. I think Taka (Scar) and Mufasa were in a sort of switched at birth situation because of the color pallet. Mufasa is more of a yellow orange like the Pride landers while Taka is more on the white side like the Outsiders. So it'll come down to that smell of home that Mufasa is chasing being his birth family and rightful place as the next king. Meanwhile, Taka will slowly start feeling 1. pushed into the shadow by his adoptive brother and 2. also start to realize the he was born an Outsider and switched at birth. A mix of these 2 things and the fact that if Mufasa hadn't shown up, the throne would've been his. This'll turn him into the Scar we all remember and on course to the events of the first Lion King movie. I want other opinions on this

I think you're right about Taka/Scar losing his family and title, and Mufasa somehow getting back his, and that will cause Taka to attack Mufasa, and Mufasa will be the one who gives him his Scar and nickname, but also spares Scar's life because "he's his brother." There is a part from the 1st New Lion King movie where Scar says he'd "Never challenge Mufasa AGAIN." I think this possible fight is what he means. Just a thought!

After the first trailer, I thought this was going to be about what everyone seems (or seemed) to think, Mufasa being adopted by Scar’s family and technically usurping, as you say, the throne from him - if it does turn out to be that, it would probably be *because* of Scar’s fall from grace - but this new trailer makes me think it’ll be a more complex story than that. And who wants to bet Mufasa is the one who gives Scar his... scar? One thing I’ve noticed - I’ve personally never seen Wicked so I don’t know the whole story but it’s interesting that this film comes out less than a month after the (first part of the) film adaptation of Wicked, which I’m very excited for, more so than Mufasa to be honest but I still think it looks quite nice, and Mufasa and Taka’s relationship seems quite similar from what I gather Elphaba and Glinda’s is like, an unlikely friendship Doomed by Canon, as they say on TV Tropes. I just thought it was an interesting coincidence. Both musicals too.

I mean we get original songs Lin-Manuel Miranda so at least there I KNOW the music will be good but if the trailer is anything to go by, the soundtrack will be top-tier. The one thing that keeps nagging at me though is that in so many scenes, Taka almost looks like one of the white lions or perhaps something inbetween a normal lion and a leucistic one. I'm wondering if that might play into the story... Like was that was deliberate or an accident? He looks a great deal lighter in this movie than in the Lion King LA of 2019.

Nice video but I don't think that Taka is a coward jurying the trailer, I mean if your look the sense where Mufasa says they must fight you can see the waterfall behind them, and later before they jump there at the edge, and it not like there facing the Krios if that how you spell his name alone, I mean look his got his pride with him, so when Taka says if we fight we died isn't him being a coward It actually the smart move because there out numbered, think about it two teenage lion vs a full grown adult male is bad enough but if he back by the lioness and the other males in his pride because remember we do see other males in the trailer. And I think these perfectly shows the brains and strength divide between the brothers, because if Krios did kill there parents, I'm sure given how vengeful Taka becomes later in life, he what's payback but on there terms in a place where they can get Krios alone without anyone to back him, and maybe Krios is the one that gives Taka some of his scars, maybe not the one on his face but remember in the remake his body has faded scars and a pit of his ear is gone.

5:18 Yeah does not make ANY sense to how Disney just fell off when they made their 2016's The Jungle Book which you can obviously see emotion with Raksha, Bagheera, Baloo, Louie and Shere Khan ESPECIALLY Shere Khan HELL !!!! they were even able to capture emtion with their 2018 Pete's Dragon Elliot where you can visually see sadness happiness undertanding empathy and above all anger.

Personally I really wish that they included characters like Ahadi and Uru (Taka's and Mufasa's parents in the Six New Adventures series) in the movie's universe. Growing up reading fan-made stories of the TLK Universe their most commonly depicted love story and their impact on Taka and Mufasa was always so iconic. Usually Taka and Mufasa are depicted to be blood-related brothers, their rift caused by either their parents or outside forces- (one version being Taka corrupted by the former Hyena matriarch). My favorite version is teenage rogue Ahadi encountering a young royal Uru as a cub in the pridelands, their funny and obnoxious interactions together, with Mohatu (Uru's dad, King of Pride rock) driving out Ahadi at first but after saving Uru from hyenas (or any other external force), he is finally accepted into the pride (paralleling Kovu's acceptance into the pride in TLK2). Seeing them grow closer together as they grow up and fall in love and eventually become King and Queen of pride rock was always satisfying to me. I think what I like about it more is actually having a Royal Queen of Pride rock for once other than Kiara. Even better if Uru's personality parallels Kiara's, and seeing obnoxious cub Uru becoming a strong mature Queen. In the books, Uru is depicted to be a very loved, fair Queen as well (I think she travels to find a water source for the pridelands when there is a drought or something). Mohatu being a single father and having Uru as his only one surviving cub would have been an interesting perspective to see- since he named her 'diamond' and would be very protective of her, and it would've been lovely to see their interactions. I think if Disney hadn't put Mufasa as the 'first' king of the pridelands but instead suggested a long royal bloodline (which seemed to have been suggested in TLK1 with Mufasa telling Simba about the 'Kings looking down on us from the stars) that would've been interesting to explore further. Because I do think the introduction of a white lion called Kyros who wants to be the only king to be very random, but that's just my opinion. The relationship with the former Hyena matriarch would've made more sense as an external threat with her being the main villain and would've explained the rift between lions and hyenas (Seeing as they accept all other predators except them). If it was a long royal bloodline, it would also explain the 'laws' of the pridelands too, like the 'balance of the circle of life' (which would've been the reason why the pridelands was always flourishing with plenty of food and water, something maybe the pride figured out, unlike other lion prides), the law of paying debts (Simba accepting Kovu's proposal for saving Kiara). I don't think they came about just from Mufasa's rule (I don't think he's a fuckin god to be that smart lol). All in all I do think the new movie has a really exciting storyline though, maybe as an alternate universe. I'm so glad they made Taka goofy too.

No, The Lion King is not based on Jungle Emperor whatsoever, since it's a lion version of Hamlet and a love letter to Africa, while Kimba is a pro-colonialism, racist-filled story about "civilizing the savages". At this point everyone should be aware of this.

Scar's name Taka is Swahili for Trash. It comes from the first back story (A Tale of Two Lions). He was the younger brother and his family hated him. Saw him as useless. Which is what led to him becoming evil. Plus Mufasa was a spoiled brat. In the Lion Guard the story was more interesting. His name was Askari (Soldier) and since he would never see the throne, his parents had him trained to be a military leader instead. He even gained the roar of the Elders. The reason he became scar is because he stopped an evil Lion and his Serpent side kick from overthrowing the royal family. The serpent gave him that scar and the venom that flowed through his veins was magical. It made him evil. If his family had tried to cure him he would probably never have become evil. But even Mufasa brushed it off. In fact he was the one who named him Scar to mock him. And the rest of the Lion Guard started to call him that too. Which led to him killing them all with the Roar of the Elders. And lost his power when he did that. And ended up being partially banished into the Hyena's territory.

It’s likely mufasa would beat the evil lion in question when taka formed the plan to beat him and taka begins to build resentment toward mufasa and they end up fighting for the throne which in the 2019 film was mentioned that scar got the scar on his face from mufasa himself when he challenged mufasa for the throne head on but failed. Mufasa luckily didn’t sentence scar to exile since he promised his brother a place by his side, a true home since his family took him in but scar/taka held that resentment for so long as well as him and Sarabi becoming mates which sends taka over the ends fully I bet.

Honestly though if this film is all about Rafiki telling Kiara Mufasa's story ... I feel like they'll have to do a 3rd movie called Simba's Pride to show the story of Zira and Kovu. Also, there's a scene of Timon and Pumbaa battling Scar So I feel like Timon and Pumbaa will be telling Kiara their version of the Battle at Pride Rock... and Rafiki will come in and tell the real story from the beginning

6:12 my guess is that they're using some actual lion facts for that plotline. Lions in the wild (male lions atleast) leave their pride once fully grown and venture far away to start their own pride. It helps avoid inbreeding

Actually if Mufasa was the one who got named King over Scar and their father died then it does make more sense why Scar/Taka thought he deserved it, because Mufasa literally was given privilege over him, he became jealous, but in the original admits that Mufasa had something over him (considering Scar is pretty scrawny and if Scar was supposed to be king first, it would have to imply Scar is older than Mufasa.) I don't know if its said he is or not, but he should be. Scar was jealous. Its why he didnt care to see Simba presented to the kingdom.

I have a feeling a lot of this set up is going to lead up to Simba’s pride. The retelling of events, showing why there’s a divide in the pride (the outsiders) and why they support Scar. All of it leading up to Kovu and why he is Scar’s heir. Whether they’re going to change it and actually make him Scar’s son or not, unsure. Probably why they made Scar and Mufasa not biological brothers in this. Tho I’m sure they’ll show more of Scar’s decline in the next movie as it feels like we’re not going to get enough time to really delve into it in “Mufasa”.

Your theory is good and I think they probably use an actual lion behavior that bachelor males will sometimes stick together in groups of 2-4 while they’re just leaving their og pride and sometimes they establish a pride together though this can go 3 ways the biggest male is the only one who can reproduce and the spare is tolerated for being extra muscle but there’s a boundary (tho sometimes they sneak and produce children anyway which why they stick around too) sometimes they literally are all sharing and it works out or last once they find a pride they fight and the winner drives off the loser(s). And ofc the first two can end up in the last situation. I’d add quickly too that when a male looses his spot in the pride and a new male takes over his first order of business is to end all the cubs from that male. I think they’ll perhaps have the brothers leave Takas pride together mimicking this irl behavior in either a go on boys start your own lives or now that you’re grown take help mufasa find where he came from quest and then have more G rated conflict around the factors in the other two scenarios in an anthropomorphic way jealousy of power or something like that.

It's implied that Mufasa is the "true king". He's literally Moses floating down the river when he's found. I think it will be revealed over the story, and because the white lion says "Only one lion king" that king ends up being Mufasa in the end.

They have a better chance at interesting people like this, by doing more original storylines with the CGI version than adapting the old 2D animated movies because then people can judge it separately as its own things. And hopefully they get more seasoned voice actors and not go with too many pop-singers voicing the characters. But Timone, Scar Pumba, and Simba did have good voices.

It seems to me they have eliminated the birthright of Mufasa being the rightful king. In the original story it is pretty clear that Mufasa was the first born. Scar was the next in line before the little furball was born. The original story says that the king is handed down by succession. But I am open to this version to see how the story plays out.

"I'm just trying to protect you"-Simba to Kiara, this is in parallel to what Mufasa says. Because of any wrong choices Mufasa may have done, this was likely later viewed a manipulative by Taka. Scar very likely was betrayed by his brother, but Mufasa was just being a bit of an idiot and therefore, didn't know it. Simba has some similar faults of not realizing that he, really hurts those he cares about sometimes, and can be in the wrong. That is an important lesson for Simba in the sequel, so this is a lesson Mufasa likely never really learned. He was also likely surprised that his brother killed him and just couldn't see that he himself did something wrong, that his brother wasn't just suddenly evil like a sickness that infected him, but rather he was hurt. Mufasa hurt him. Scar was was wounded not poisoned.

I'm a big fan who'd expand their traveling grounds,but I'm not into the Live Action films of these lions. If anyone wants hints for a better period here's the way I would have shown the older lions. Askari thinking like Po in Kung Fu Panda and acting like Nava In Wolf Quest Balto's sequel Mohatu kind like Diego in the Ice Age film collection Ahadi like Alex's father and Simon's father in The Wild being turned into one wise and brave lion Uru patient like Alex's mom in Madagascar 2 And then Mufasa born the original Prideland way adventurous like Alex when he's a cub, and then once in a while needing guidance like Simon does as well as active in respectful ways offered the help he needs like Koda was in Brother Bear. While Taka/ Scar just continuing to be his original tricky character who hates the wildlife rules he doesn't accept that lions choose their ruling leader by strength not family rank. And with that science fact I don't agree with the recent film of Mufasa. Scar doesn't obey the circle of life.

In real life, male lions are usually forced out of their pride to go find one of their own once they're old enough to hunt for themselves. It's also very common for brothers to travel together. This is probably what is happening in the scene where the queen seems to be chasing them out to find their place in the circle of life. Which is weird but alright sure. Honestly, not a fan of the idea of Mufasa not being the legit older brother of Taka at all. It makes no sense in context of how he acts in the original and while I never saw the 'live action' one I can't imagine his characterization was much different. While I wouldn't necessarily say he was a-hole he was definitely an 'older brother' in the way he kind of bullied and used his bulk to put Scar in his place. A lot of people tend to forget the fact that yeah... Mufasa was kind of an entitled brute. So having him be some orphan and not at all related to Taka is bizarre to me. Their whole dynamic was based on Mufasa being the jockish big brother to Scars more intellectual little brother, which isn't really something that works the same when they aren't biologically related.

I agree!SO:PLEASE NO MORE!Remakes are like trying to get money the easy way,(And if that is enough it furthers the sterotype that Animation is only for kids by having this "REMADE" in live-action to be more "adult"(their pointless more often than not).The worst part is Disney started out as a ANIMATION STUDIO and are insulting the people who built the company to make bank,Listen FOOL ME ONCE SHAME ON YOU,....FOOL ME TWICE SHAME ON ME.Remakes(most of them anyways) also stifle out actual creativity which could be used to create something new and not yet another repeat(Also technically its not live action because they would bother to use actual animals)......These types of remakesa re genuine Anti-Art.....so lets finnally stop being suckered and stop buying tickets to the latest remake and watch something that actually is worth it.

A Taka movie would work great, actually. A lot of films are taking old villains and looking deeper into their behavior and giving them more emotional depth. A whole story about why a villain becomes a villain is basically the Star Wars prequels. Without the terrible dialogue and hammy acting, they would have been more likeable for that reason. I think these sorts of psychological dives into character are more interesting. I'm probably not going to pay to see this though.

I'm so conflicted about Scar's original name still being Taka. Like yeah it's cool they kept the name Taka from A Tale of two brothers, but it makes no sense now?? Taka literally means trash in Swahili, if his parents actually like him why would they name him that? That makes no sense
