Aaron Judge post season batting average with the Yankees: 2017 post season = 188. 2018 post season = 421. 2019 post season = 265. 2020 post season = 133. 2021 post season = 250. 2022 post season = 139. Overall Post season batting average = 211. Based on these numbers, let him go. He doesn't help the Yankees in the post-season. Not worth the money.

I say let him go, we can sign multiple contact hitters to replace him in the lineup, you put 2 or 3 good contact hitter that get on base in the top 5 then you get more run production, we got all these young players that should be coming up and not be worn out in the minors. I rather have another pitcher and 2 contact hitters for 40 million than 1 player that can seem to hit when it matters the most.

I'll be happy if judge signs but if I were the owner of the Yankees I dont think I would want to pay the kind of money SF is offering. That's a lot of eggs in one basket. We already got the best value out of Judge where he performed at his best while we paid a fraction of what he'll get going forward. He will slow down as he ages and there is a lot of younger, cheaper talent out there to form a more well-rounded team. We could get an epic bullpen with that money

Just look at Cano for a prime example of what happens when you pay an aging player way too much money over and absurd period of time. You get production for 2-3 years and then the decline begins and how steep that decline will be is anyone’s guess. That said even though it doesn’t make sense in terms of building a winning team long term it makes great business sense. They would probably more than offset his yearly salary just on Jersey and Ticket sales. Let’s face it the guy is an attraction and currently the face of NY sports

@@solace4114 I don’t think Yankees fans are turning on him I think most of us want him back regardless of the contract implications in the long run but we are also being realistic. If he avoids injury we will probably get maybe 5 years of $40 million production out of him. If he starts getting injured in his 30s he will begin the decline much faster. In any sport there are very few players who maintain any significant level of production after age 35 and all but a handful who can even compete at ages 37-40.

I think if Judge hasn’t signed a deal by tomorrow the Yankees should just proceed as if he is walking and trade for Reynolds, secure benintendi, get another quality starter, find a way to offload both Hicks and Donaldson and go after Correa. If Judge decides to stay offloading Hicks and Donalson’s contracts should offset his salary. Then you can bring up Volpe and get younger and more athletic. With the new rules regulating the shift teams are going to need to have more athletic infields to record outs.

I think the Agent for Judge is way overplaying his hand, and I think enough is enough. This is what the Yankees should do: they should take the offer off the table and move in a different direction to restructure the team: they should trade for Reynolds’s, sign Benintendi, Rodón and Senga, trade Isiah Falifa, Hicks, Gleyber and Schmith. Do this, and we will be very competitive!

I agree that Cashman, and the Yankees, played that very poorly ... but I don't think the plan was to try to embarrass Judge. I remember when that happened, the Yankees *had* to say something, because the fan base just assumed they made him a terrible offer. I think it was more of a statement to show the fan base it was a legit offer than it was a shot at Judge. It's very unfortunate how it all played out. Now 99 is basically holding them hostage, because they won't make any other moves until this Judge thing is resolved.
