When you say cloning. Is that, in effect, creating a backup. That way, should the programming fail, you can reflash the ECU with the clone, restoring original settings?

By cloning I refer to 1 to one copy. You can take all the info from an engine ecu (for example) and copy it to another ECU. 1 to 1 copy

Yes, before cloning you can backup all data, eprom and flash. I did that and it was fast enough about half an hour all done, backup and write.

Can i program a used cim module on mu astra h with it?And can it cnone a ecu to instal a used one?

to clone ECUs you need the XPROG3 as an add on. I am not familiar with the opel platform or with what the CIM is and if it really need to be coded ... you could use the smartlink and ask on the platform someone else to do the CIM programming

Thank you for review. I had it and it is very heavy and battery can be doubled. It is fast, but my Otofix D1 Pro is much faster and 3 times cheaper, but no coding. I wish to buy Pad IX or Thinktool 399 14 inch AI diagnostic. Pad 7 looks very professional but need better battery, it has space inside for another battery but they never mind to put extra battery. With Prog3 I did clone VW gearbox ECUs and Ford gearbox ECUs very fast, also very good on Mercedes Key programming without any tokens!

thank you for sharing all that info. sometimes it is hard to actually find people that have the experience of using the tools. I wanted to get the Xprog 3 to do some testing but my friend that bought the pad7 does not need it so did not have it. Maybe in the future I might get a smaller 10 inch unit with the smartlink and the Xprog3.

Prog3 very good investment, but I only used it for 2008 W221 keys and 2017 Sprinter keys and gearbox ECU cloning. But now thinking of buying Thinktool 399 . Maybe go to Automechanika expo in Frankfurt on 10-14 September to see it before production

yes. it works on all cars. also you can buy it to work on big trucks, you chose the HD version or buy the software upgrade for it.

These tools are professional grade devices meant to be used by knowledgeable people. You should 100% be familiar with this type of tools before using one. This is not a tutorial, as soon as he mentions the capabilities and compatible protocols a technician has a very good idea how the machine will be used in his particular case.

@@BestCarModsDisregard that comment, this homeowners want every video on KZbin to be a fuc**ng tutorial. This should not be used by someone clueless about these scanners….they will create more damages than fixes.
