Drake I struggle with that too. It’s most likely because you didn’t get enough love or attention of your own as a child. The Law of Attraction blew up with the book "The Secret", but not many know that the there's an earlier book by Esther Hick called "Ask and it is given; the Teachings of Abraham". I picked this second book up in college and read the introduction where she details how she received these teachings. Basically, she meets a spiritual medium (or something, I don't remember 100%), and she asks the spirit's name. The spirit's name was "Theo" (and I think there was an "Abraham" in there too?). After finding out Theo means God in Greek, she's convinced she's receiving the teachings of God. I got in the LOA as a Christian in my college years; some things definitely came true, but there was still something fundamentally wrong and evil about it. Long story short, a lot of things collapsed in my life, and also an evil spirit called a "destroyer" entered me. After a few years, I got deeper into Jesus and was delivered from all these things. But the crazy thing was that when I got into LOA, I had tried to convince myself that there was a "Christian version", and that the name Abraham meant perhaps it was Christian, or some nonsense like that. In my opinion, the biggest problem with LOA is that we are replacing the place of God in our lives. Instead of putting God on the pedestal, we are putting our selfish desires on that place, and trying to use "spiritual practices" to make them come true, without trying to find out or even caring about God's opinion. In this regard, it's very similar to the Prosperity Gospel (in that we place our desires above God).

​@@demushka Hey, 2 verses before this verse in Mark 11:22 it says to "Have faith in God..", like Steven explains in the video the preliminary requirement that needs to be met before Mark 11:24 can work is to believe in God. The main nuance is your belief for things to occur is based off faith in God and the promises he says in scripture rather than believing "the universe" brought things to you as LOA says. Another key difference is that Mark 11:24 says that you have to PRAY to God and it is the things that are prayed for that are to be believed. But also remember that there are certain prayers that God will not answer, for example God will not answer prayers that are motivated by selfish desires (James 4:3) which Steven mentions at around 20:30 along with other very helpful scriptures. So essentially, yes we can believe that our prayers are to be believed but we also respect that ultimately if it isnt in God's will or if its motivated by selfish desires etc. God will not answer those prayers, in the end the decision is God's and he will grant us what we pray for if we ask the right things. (for example I can pray to have more Christ-like love for people and therefore as this aligns with God I should believe that I have received it!.) I hope this makes sense.

Excellent points. I would also add that the law of attraction supports "blame the victim" mentality. Its similar to karma which leads to the wealthy looking down on the poor and having no compassion such as in India with their class system. They really think the poor and the rich deserve whatever they get and wont help their poor. It's becoming more and more like this in usa too with the rich looking down their noses on the poor and this also goes directly against scripture where we are taught to have compassion and look after those less fortunate. I walked away from Christ and into this new age practice (amongst others) and it brought me nothing but more anxiety and disappointment. LOA supporters will say I’m to blame for it “not working”, but I seriously gave it my all. It wasn’t until I gave my life back to Jesus and renounced all of my new age practices that I finally found the peace and happiness I was seeking. Yes! From my personal point of view, I can tell that "spirit guides" are demons in disguise. And you can't (and shouldn't try to) contact your guardian angels. Only contact God. The main purpose of angels is to defend people against forces of darkness, not to give any advice to anyone. That power belongs to God. That doesn't that mean God can't act through angels in your life, because they do serve a purpose in God's plan. From what I know, they protect you and they may guide you subtly in the right direction. I'm not super knowledgeable about angels, but I can definitely tell to stay away from "spirit guides"!

My theory on this is that Satan and his demons stole "the law of the harvest" from the Bible, divorced it from all of the other laws and commandments God ALSO has in the Bible and turned that one law into something backwards and upside down (as they always do) to serve the ego, and to deny God with. God was the creator of the law of the harvest. "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." When done God's way, within his context, you will be praying and asking for all that your heart desires, but always surrendering, by the end of the prayer, to whatever God wills for your life as Jesus did in the Lord's prayer. The Bible says "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." It also says "if ye seek first, the kingdom of God and his glory, all things shall be added unto you." Psalm 37:4 says "Delight yourself in the Lord and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." The devil LOVES to take a kernal of truth and mix it with lies to serve his own purpose. Another way to know that the law of attraction has been tainted by demons is that all the sources of the law CHANNELED the information in by spirits. Madame Blavatsky, Abraham Hicks, and the writer of the book "The Secret" all publically stated that their source of info was from channeled spirits. Listening to and believing in channeled information is what's known as being "seduced by the doctorines of demons" Following the law of the harvest God's way leaves you trusting in his provision for your needs and thanking him for every breath. Following the almost identical copy of the law of attraction (but devoid of God), leaves you with a trumped up, bloated ego, trusting in yourself and your wants (when God says to "lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways, acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.") God also explains that we don't even know what we should pray for. And the law of attraction leads to so much ego stress and strain trying to control and arrange everything. It leads to making the flesh stronger instead of the Spirit. God warned that there would be those "having a form of godliness but denying the power therof." They claim themselves as God or equal to God (like Lucifer did). I saw many who were doing great works using this law but denying the existence and power of the law-giver over creation and themselves. The "law of the harvest," should be used for the glory of God, expansion of his kingdom and as a blessing to lead souls to God. But by the "law of attraction" it has been twisted and used for the glorification of man's pathetic ego, and to mislead souls away from God. They stand with their dark egos blocking God's powerful light...and by doing this appear to shine as Angel's themselves. Get right with God and they won't look like shiny Angels but as merely those trying to block the light of God and steal the glory that is rightfully his. God gives us every strength, every ability, every breath, so not one part of us deserves glory for anything. If any glory falls on us, it is because of our association with our creator as his blessed child, humbly bowing our egos out of the way so the source of all true glory can be seen more clearly. Anyway, good job Steven. I was a new ager too and then was brought to the truth of Christ's salvation. Great job tackling this controversial topic. I agree with your assessment and logic on it but I think you may have overlooked the idea that the demons stole it directly from the Bible. I think that's WHY IT WORKS so powerfully for so many. It is God's powerful law taken out of it's proper context and isolated which dissasociates the law away from the LAW GIVER...and turns it to idolatry and witchcraft as you described.

I used to be heavy into the LOA years ago and got pretty deep to the point I was listening to Esther Hicks... it is only now that my eyes are open that I realize she is channeling in demons and dark forces... oh...but what she says sounds real pretty...doesn’t it... until after listening to her one day I fell to the floor crying and I felt so sick... and didn’t know why.. having been perfectly fine just before.. when I stood up... I couldn’t speak... it was like something was holding my tongue... thought I may be having a stroke but I wasn’t... I wasn’t feeling weak or fainting... just an overwhelming feeling of darkness in me.. it’s hard to explain... it took me over 15 minutes to be able to speak again it was one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced and just like never eating something that gave you food poisoning again.. I never listened to her again... beware! They are channeling demons and dark forces... LOA removes God and has you worshipping the universe which is ridiculous when you really think about it... there is only One way to the father.. he is the way the truth and the life... and that is Jesus Christ... he will fill that void in your heart... I got caught in the law of attraction and manifestation briefly as a back slidden Christian because I so badly wanted to change my circumstances of my life that I was not happy with. As I looked into it further I kept hearing no one say God or no one depending on God as a provider and I knew then that something was wrong but as I got caught up with it more...I did start to think what do I need God for if I can "manifest" everything myself...and not that I was but I kept trying because I did get small results and it started making me become obsessed because I was trying to speak over each and every little thing that came up in my life. I made some poor choices in my personal life because of it. Accepted negative things into my life that were "manifested forms of things I wanted but still counterfeit" I quickly became depressed and suicidal. So I stopped and my mind found peace. God forgive me. I repent I know the truth now. God is in control and I surrender to Him. God give me strength.

The supposed "Law of Attraction" is just a matter of faith and faith is a spiritual law. Even an unsaved person can use faith and the spiritual law works for them, because faith doesn't just work for disciples of Christ. It's not about the universe manifesting something into existence. The gifts of God are given without repentance so someone can receive a spiritual gift and be a full-fledged sinner while using the gift.

When I first got saved almost 20 yrs ago out of the new age I attended a charismatic church who taught the things that you mentioned. I had the discernment that it was the new age spirit (kundalini) spirit that was at work and NOT the Holy Spirit but very few would listen to me until the false spirit caused division and a lot of problem that the ministry totally fell apart. Often times it is the same spirit at work. We should all pray for the gift of discernment because we can all be deceived.

I was involved with Science Of Mind for awhile and at first it seemed the choice for me, however, it did not take too long before I noticed that I had been pulled away from Jesus and God. LOA is such a hollow path and the way that they teach people to "pray" is not actual praying but their own system of connecting to a mechanical universe that mirrors your intentions. Juz a few weeks ago, on 29 Nov,I was celebrating my friend's birthday. Then we decided to do window shopping. I suddenly had the urge to visit my favourite bookstore, which I have visited for a long time. I was searching for the book 'The Baker illustrated guide to the Bible', and look through many books, for quite some time. Then suddenly, a voice (God) told me to get up. I hastily got up. I looked around, and saw a middle aged woman in the new age section, which is nearby the religious section I was in. I asked God, what do u want me to do? He told me to preach. It was my first time doing so to strangers in real life. I got up to the woman, talk for some time (she didn't put her full attention to me, but still answered my questions), and she didn't believe in demons. Nor have she heard of Steven Bencarz or Doreen Virtue (both former New Ager turned to Jesus). I told her my testimony, being former occult, amateur new age and Buddhist. She shrug it off, and some time later told me I come at the wrong time. Deep inside, I know God is perfect in His timing. We parted.

This is the movie that trapped me into the new age when it first came out .. I tried the methods and they worked ..I got everything I wanted by visualization and vision boards. And I was really good at it. I wasted 20 years of my life in this cult...which eventually led me to kundalini yoga.. But they don't tell you the immense price you have to pay for all the "manifestations". You don't get something for nothing, and in this case you pay with your soul and well being. It's impossible with a believer_ since the holy ghost indwells the believer, he guards the soul and mind. The occasion you may not understand is when one is without the full armor of God... That's spiritual battles that come when the enemy or temptation strikes a believer. But as faith grows, so too will the sanctification work (the temptation goes away) All other demonic incidents deal with non believers or those who dabble in the occult. In demonology the possession of a person can be either by entities (demonic spirits) or by invocation. The normal vexations of fleshly thoughts and lust is just part of being in flesh_ and Satan using it. We are told to resist and pray and he will flee. He can't read your mind_ he is simply ancient and therefore knows mans weakness, so he may vex man with thoughts or impulses_ God provides in the scriptures how to overcome, namely call on Christ and remind the demons they and the devil were defeated at the cross. There is nothing he can do to Gods children _ the in dwelling holy ghost will kick him to the curb. Scripture dealing with the (flesh) or temptations also emphasize that for a believer, you cannot be manipulated or controlled _ Its the whole point of the armor (helmet of salvation) the mind is called a stronghold_ there for it says (guard your mind) meaning keep it on Christ. Jesus tells a parable to illustrate that defeating Satan and casting out evil spirits is not the ultimate goal of the Christian’s life. True disciples must do more than merely sweep away unclean spirits. To keep evil from setting up camp in our spiritual houses, we must fill our lives with the good things of God and His Kingdom. Evil spirits are never to be regarded neutrally. They are part of Satan’s dark forces, enemies of God and His people. Evil spirits promote corruption, malice, and depravity in the world and in humans. They are opposed to God’s holiness, goodness, righteousness, light, and love. As the antithesis of the Holy Spirit, evil spirits represent the opposite of God’s character, nature, and will. They are hostile to the work of God and Jesus Christ, and believers are always to resist them: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith” (1 Peter 5:8-9; see also Ephesians 6:13; James 4:7). The Bible says that the devil seeks to devour believers (1 Peter 5:8), and Satan and his demons “scheme” against Christians (Ephesians 6:11). As Satan attempted with Jesus (Luke 4:2), demonic forces tempt us to sin and oppose our efforts to obey God. Should a Christian allow the demons to succeed in these attacks, oppression results. Demonic oppression is when a demon is temporarily victorious over a Christian, successfully tempting a Christian to sin and hindering his ability to serve God with a strong testimony. If a Christian continues to allow demonic oppression in his/her life, the oppression can increase to the point that the demon has a very strong influence over the Christian’s thoughts, behavior, and spirituality. Christians who allow continuing sin open themselves up for greater and greater oppression. Confession and repentance of sin are necessary to restore fellowship with God, who can then break the power of demonic influence. The apostle John gives us great encouragement in this area: “We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him” (1 John 5:18). For the Christian, the power for victory over and freedom from demonic oppression is always available. John declares, “The One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). The power of the indwelling Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9) is always available to overcome demonic oppression. No demon, not even Satan himself, can prevent a Christian from surrendering to the Holy Spirit and thereby overcoming any and all demonic oppression. Peter encourages believers to resist the devil, “standing firm in your faith” (1 Peter 5:9). Being firm or steadfast in the faith means relying on the power of the Holy Spirit to successfully resist demonic influence. Faith is built up through the spiritual disciplines of feeding on the Word of God, persistent prayer, and godly fellowship. Strengthening our faith by these means enables us to put up the shield of faith with which we can “extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one” (Ephesians 6:16). There is an additional consideration. Satan and his evil host can do nothing the Lord does not allow them to do (Job 1-2). This being the case, Satan, thinking he is accomplishing his own purposes, is actually accomplishing God’s good purposes, as in the case of Judas’ betrayal. Some people develop an unhealthy fascination with the occult and demonic activity. This is unwise and unbiblical. Also, as a former Metaphysics instructor who also taught meditation, & gave oracle & tarot card readings I hope folks start understanding the sneaky insidiousness of these beings & their teachings. Therefore, it's not so much about the conscious mind ( although that is one aspect to it), but also about releasing unconscious blocks and beliefs that prevent the desired result. So how can you say that the internal conditions were met for all lottery players when we don't really know what their subconscious beliefs and blocks were before playing the lottery?

Hi Steven, Something that came to mind as you were explaining examples of the law of attraction being "fulfilled" for people who are led by a feeling and suddenly things are going right for them - I've heard similar stories told in a Christian perspective...i.e. the Holy Spirit leads someone to give money to someone who ends up needing that money, when neither could have known about the prayer/need. The concepts are very similar in my mind. So in a sense, aren't some Christians practicing law of attraction except with prayer and the Holy Spirit being the one leading people to do certain things?

That's right, except the Holy Spirit is God, and His ways and precepts are truth. The devil copies everything for 2 reasons: 1. He is incapable of being creative/creating because he was created. He is not God. 2. He copies in order to deceive. Everything has to be as close to Christian beliefs and practices as much as possible in order to deceive effectively. Such a needed message for the church. Years ago I was in a charismatic prayer group. Every week one of the misguided members would explain an aspect of how to get things with prayer. All were centered on some mental gymnastics that would insure that God gave you what you wanted. I would argue that this was a form of magic, not prayer, but I still felt compelled to go to the meetings. During one session, they all discerned that they were to begin a healing ministry, despite the fact that none of them even professed having a gift of healing. We see the reference to “mustard seed faith” twice in Scripture. First, in Matthew 17:14-20, we see Christ’s disciples unable to exorcise a demon from a young boy, even though Jesus had previously given them the authority to do this very thing (Matthew 10:1). As I was heavily in the New Age and I have been saved for about a year now, I have a short thought on this: The Law of Attraction at it’s core does work, and in a sense, I do believe that God uses a similar foundation to our walk with Him. Of course, there are deceptions everywhere and with all things that God does, but if you think about it simply - the things that are put in your heart, God will prepare you for them. He will change the way you think, behave, feel, etc in order to bring you to the place to fulfill specific parts of His overall will for your life. So, in a sense, you are attracting (or more so God is bringing) things into your life as you are being obedient and listening/growing in Him. Of course, it’s in His timing, but you’re still presenting these specific qualities and values that He has put within you. In terms of witchcraft and the law of attraction, I don’t quite think both of them can be interlinked. I think witchcraft really relies on outside forces, whereas law of attraction when “utilized” outside of the realms of Christianity is more so self-idolatry that is probably filled with purely settling and doing things outside of God’s strength. In all honesty, I don’t even know what kind of forces there are besides simply our own subconscious. What we think and have in our hearts tends to manifest one way or another. Example: If you’re casting a spell with the intention of having a girl/guy you know from work or something fall in love with you, you subconsciously know that, so being around them would cause your whole shift in energy to be that to attract and seduce them. Plus, with the subconscious confidence of your idolatrous spell, you’d probably seem more confident and attractive to the opposite party. And then of course, if it doesn’t work... well, you get stuck in a cycle of cognitive dissonance and suffering trying to do something to create this “thing”... You really can do anything you set your mind to, but it won’t truly be fulfilling or bring peace without God being the one to shape your desires. I truly think these New Agey deceptions are misunderstandings of how our mind works and how our subconscious effects how we are in the world around us. And I believe Christ fully was aware of that. The Law of Attraction is not a new age concept at all. Contrary to common belief, the early Freemasons were Christians, NOT devil worshippers. They utilizes LOA on a very biblical basis, and considered it to be a form of prayer. The Bible says to fill your mind with all things good and holy, and the true idea is to express and feel love and joy, and God will bless you with more of those feelings. However, becoming too obsessed with material wealth can be dangerous, as the Bible says the love of money is the root of all evil. All the esoteric, mystical, meditation, channelling, astral stuff is the new age "spin" on the whole thing which makes it deceptive and dark. Every success or failure you can ever have in your life came from LOA, but think about, Sidney Crosby didn't sit in a chair and meditate 18 hours a day to get into shape to make the NHL to play professional hockey, did he? Of course not. There's a small ribbon of truth in all of it but it's muddled with deception and flat out wrong info.

I've struggled with depression for the last year due to hormones and a very crippling pregnancy and getting evicted while 7 months pregnant. I have definitely not practiced the law of attraction is my point. We just bought an amazing house, and my kids are healthy and my husband has been amazing to me through it all. We were debt free before we bought the house which is going to turn into a better investment than we initially thought. All by gods grace. I'm struggling, somebody please pray for me to get through what I'm going through. I tried manifesting things through guided meditations and started earnestly believing that what I think about more often is going to come to pass. I now struggle with this terribly in trying to come back into a whole relationship with Christ. I fear, that I will lose my life if I accidentally think or don't control my mind enough not to fear losing my life. This spirit has been harrowing on me ESPECIALLY badly being a new mom, as it often makes me see life even more as a vapor and makes it hard for me to stand in where I need to be, in the moment and in every moment, for them. 😂 the weird coincidence I had during this video is freaking me out tho, I set this video to play while washing dishes, a few minutes in I find a pan had left a large turmeric stain where oil had pooled (turmeric stains are immediate, tough to get out, and worsen the longer it sets, I’ve become very careful to avoid them) over the years I have found the best way to lift turmeric stains is with baking soda/vinegar paste. Within moments of noticing it, I left my dishes with water still running, reached for the baking soda and simultaneously as I’m sprinkling it on this stain you make your first mention the baking soda/vinegar analogy. 💯 perfect timing, I had even previously started another video when I began washing, stopped it midway through and switched to this one, and could have left the stain until I was finished with the dishes as well, the timing of the coincidence kinda blowing my mind right now 🤯😂

Steven, I'm left fairly confused. I'm certain that when I was teaching LOA last year, I became aware that a "self saboteur" was making me depressed, feeling crazy with desires and choices, and then I realized my self saboteur was actually trying to kill me. Demons? I believe so but idk for sure. I thought maybe I have so much personal trauma specific to my self worth, it's creating a lot of dissonance when I try to align my vision of what would make me happy. I gave my life to Christ in February 2019, just a month into seeing how unreliable and dangerous LOA was, how NARCISSISTIC it is. So, this I understand. I am newly reborn in Christ, because of scary stuff that happened to me after starting New Age practices. When I became a believer again, I prayed God to show me if an actual demon was oppressing me. I didn't expect to get an actual answer, but God gave me a clear vision of a horrifying looking demon in a blink of an eye. The vision was so unexpected and clear, that I no longer have any doubt about demons being real. Ask God for discernment and you'll start to realize how evil and dark forces work all around us and what sort of things you should avoid to stay safe. God bless!

@@pippastin thanks for your support. I've been interested in pastor's who include casting out demons in their ministry. I need to search the Bible and study it and pray on this. I have one very close family member who believes Christmas is part of Satan's world and honestly I am confused by many things at this point in time.

I'm also needing a lot more basis for the demons influencing the yoga teacher looking for a job and her friend who needed something to drink. Calling that phenomenon demonic left me stretching to agree with that perspective. The other thing that stood out was the Biblical Scripture that God doesn't answer the prayers of non believers. A lot to think about here and follow up on. Very interesting topic! Thank you!!

@@ThrivingWithGaylaDGaia I am also very confused with many things, but I believe that God Will show me answer when it is time. I know God will give you answer as well. Study the Bible, pray and most of all surrender to God's will. One of the answer I got from God was to surrender. Just let go. When God talks to me, it's not an audible voice, but rather an "intuition" that feels right and a "thought" or a vision that comes out of nowhere. It comes so clearly, that it feels different than my own inner voice. The crazy thing is, the vision on the demon was different than what I had envisioned in my head of how possible demons look like. It was exactly what many others have described, a weird combination of a man and a lizard, with curled horns and scaly skin. It was terrifying, but I'm glad He showed me that and led me to find out many others have seen similar creatures to verify it wasn't just my imagination. Ask God for answers and I believe he will show you things, when it is the right time!

If I’ve ever manifested anything it’s because I would humbly present my desires to the Lord and after writing down any affirmations or anything like that, I’d always follow it up with a prayer to the Lord asking that HIS will be done. I believe all of my hearts desires will come true according to his will and I know that anything is possible. I know my place in this universe and I definitely do not call the shots by any means lol

What about when a non-beliver (with disregard for God's moral rules) is praying for a beliver...? I might need to just stay stronger in MY faith, but my dad prays for me a lot and he is a new-ager. I have even asked him not to before. But then just gave up and tried to be grateful for his toe-dipped in...and since he says he will peay anyway. BUT ehen he expresses to me that he will/has, it feels like I have a harder time than usual. (With health). Any advice appreciated! ❤ Also comes to mind how I haven't found a place in the Gospel that affirms prayer in large groups in churches, especially outspoken in unison like a ritual.... BUT it says to pray in private. I didn't know of Matt 6:5 in relation to prayer. Or didn't remember. This ties into that for me.

I had the craziest thing happen to me. My professor in college had the class watch the documentary “The Secret”. My professor was a feminist, Crystal/rock worshiping hippy, and she was generally unpleasant to be around. On my drive home from class, I thought of my old middle school friend that I hadn’t seen in years. I made a stop at the grocery store before heading home and I saw that same middle school friend walking into the store! It was so strange, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I’m so glad that I know Jesus, because it felt like I was being lured into something sinister. Be vigilant, folks!

Question: The way you explain demon trickery sounds very similar to "promptings" by the Holy Spirit a Chrisitian can receive to help or call someone or go in a specific path. Given that these teachings have entered the church, how would you help someone discern an orchestration by the Holy Spirit from an orchestration by demons?

Test the spirit. I cant remember exact verse. Google search: test spirit bible verse. And ask God for discernment thru the Holy Spirit on if the thought is of God or satan. Thats why we need to meditate more time in God's word so we can know what's of and not of God, that way if the spirit or thought isn't pure and against God's word, you'll instantly know, from strengthening ur Spirit by God's word, that is a demonic thought. This kind of thing had already been around in the Prosperity Gospel in the late 1990s here in the Philippines. Preaching had been tuned towards saying God will give you what you want in your dreams, and if you don't get it, your sin is blocking you. This is how some New Age and false teachings infiltrate Christianity. You're right Steve, it's been around a long time.
