Congratulations on the new grand baby. Glad to have you back. Just finished watching the latest video. You would not believe how much I was looking forward to your videos. I am caught up on all now but still watch them over and over because me and my dogs love the all out country sounds and peaceful feeling we get. Love your inclusion of Queen Anne's Lace. I've always loved those too.Did you know there is nobody on youtube remotely like you, as interesting and pleasing to the soul? Ha ha...I know cause I searched.

Dear Jeri, I’m a teacher and love all your creativity. I love how you embrace not being a perfectionist in your garden. In my opinion that’s why it’s so special. When it comes to your writing, do you feel the same way? My problem is that everything has to perfect. I sometimes in the past have pulled everything out and started again from scratch in my garden. In my writing, I also get frustrated that it isn’t perfect and I throw it all out. I know that I’m learning from you. Thank you for being you. Thank you for sharing. You are truly making a positive impact to society.
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow5 жыл бұрын
Richilde, I know that I'm not going to be perfect at anything I do, including my writing and art, and the critics will always be there to remind me; but I do my best, always strive to be better and accept the final result with contentment. It may be difficult to let go of the desire for perfection, but you can do it and will find it quite liberating. I'm sometimes unhappy with a result in a garden or a piece of artwork or writing, but I always know that I can "fix"it, accept it as it is, or learn a good lesson for the next time around. The most important thing is not to compare myself to other gardeners, artists or writers; there will always be someone who SEEMS to be perfect... but it's not me... and probably not them!

I feel like I lost out on so many flowers this year that should’ve been sown in fall. The good news is that instead of planting flower seeds....we were putting in our new 10 bed raised bed potager last fall. We are now benefitting immensely from it🙌 We’re about to harvest an entire 4’ x 8’ bed of garlic soon😳 ...and I’m up to my eyeballs in salads, peas, cauliflower/broccoli😅 & carrots! It’s a very good problem to have😜 Enjoy your summer & as always....already looking forward to the next video!🌸

Let the poppies drop seed if you want them in the same place next year. After they turn brown and wilted you can easily pull them out. I too love those Larkspur, they die an ugly death though.

Hi Jeri! Lovely video! I have a few questions. I hope you dont mind :)) First, we have very similar growing conditions, as I'm just south of you in North-Central Alabama. Do you water your gardens at all? I was gone this whole week and I thought it was going to rain, but it didnt rain «enough» and my potager just about died.I was so disappointed :(( The things I have mulched are doing ok, and im going to keep watering all weekend in hopes to revive things. My next question is, Do you keep all your bulbs in the ground year round? I understand you do move some from garden to garden, but for the most part, they stay where you planted, correct? I was given a ton of different bulbs in spring, I dug a big hole under a shade tree and planted the whole lot of them. I want to dig back up in fall and plant them out and about like you do. Its sometimes hard growing in the south, it just stays so hot, but your gardens just seem to flourish. I can keep dreaming, right?! Blessings, Melissa
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow5 жыл бұрын
Melissa, How discouraging to come home to dying plants, so sorry about that. I do have to water certain gardens occasionally, especially during the dry spells. We've had a goodly amount of rain this year, but I always need to test the soil in the potager, as it gets sun nearly all day long. I keep a hose nearby, and water by hand with one of those rain soaking wands they use in Nurseries. I mulch real thickly with the compost and that helps. About the bulbs, keep them in the ground is my advice. Alliums, Daffs, Muscari and Hyacinth never need to be moved. Tulips can be dug up, but I don't think it's worth it anymore, I have some tulips that never come back, and others that have returned for over 10 years! Plant the Darwin Hybrids, they are meant to return, plant them once and leave them there. I once read that, here in the south, we should plant our tulips about 10" deep rather than the standard 6"... it seems to work for me!
@stevenssunshinefarm55605 жыл бұрын
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow Thanks so much for the advice! I will keep watering and hope for the best. I will definitely try a few at 10" and see what happens when I plant in the fall.
