Ohhh wow!!! Your vidoes just get better & better. I love the fact you recycle EVERY household item imaginable, from crockery to utensils to newel posts to iron bedsteads and incorporate them in your incredible garden!! It's more fascinating than any Enid Blyton book I read as a child. Where I live in Wales, UK the town is surrounded by five castles. Three of which grow their own produce for Market Gardens. Two of which have peacocks, peahens, chickens, geese & sheep wondering freely in the grounds. I thought I'd seen it all but your garden has got the lot & more to see & offer! On top of that you create the most beautiful illustrations, paint, felting bears & cats....... you're such a gifted & talented lady. I wish I lived in the US so I could visit your gardens. Simply amazing.
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow5 жыл бұрын
Jaylyn, Your location sounds like the most wonderful place I could imagine, surrounded by castles no less! It's true that nothing goes to waste around here; if it's an interesting item, I put it to work> All of our critters just make the place come alive, although it can get pretty noisy around here at times. If you ever get to the states, you are certainly welcome to come and visit.... but we aren't surrounded by castles ( I wish!) only old barns and the hills of Tennessee.
@jaylyn72855 жыл бұрын
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow Aww thank you soo much Jeri. I would love to visit Tennesee and the icing on the cake would be seeing your gardens. Maybe one day. Hopefully. I do love all things American and the people are so warm and friendly. I'd love to hear more about you British heritage. Is it on one of your videos?? 😊 Castles are magnificent places but when you've been brought up around them, the novelty doesn't last. All but one of the castles we have are ruins but the outer walls, towers, turrets & drawbridge of Kidwelly Castle are still standing, tho the moat has dried. Stradey Castle is the only one still completely standing but does look more like a smaller sort of Downton Abbey and was inhabited by Lord & Lady Mansel Lewis. Lady Mansel Lewis was second or third cousin to our current Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen has visited her a few times over the decades, though I've only seen her once in the town but that was an official visit back in 1977 for her Silver Jubilee. We didn't tend to hear that she'd visited until after she'd already left to go back to London or one of her other estates. It was kept very secretive due to her safety/security. Stradey Castle also has the market gardens and beautiful grounds, animals, geese, swans, kinda like the book The Secret Garden. I've found ponds and a small lake on the grounds a few yrs ago that I never knew existed and I had walked the dogs there for years!! Since the deaths of Lord & Lady Mansel Lewis their daughter Claire has now opened Stradey Castle to the public and also rents it out as an events or wedding venue. More inland is Dinefwr Castle which has a market garden & has the peacocks & peahens roaming free along with farm animals & deer. There's a Post Office nearby in the tiniest village called Bethlehem and people from all over the world order Christmas Cards from there to be sent to loved ones on the customers behalf, just so the card and the postmark shows they are from Bethlehem. It really is quite a magical place to live around here. We have our problems tho like everywhere in the world but it is beautiful and right next to the beach is also great in the summer, if it's not raining that is!! ☔😂 😂 P. S. Sorry Jeri, but after moving back to my home town after living away for some years, I've had to edit the above text as my mum told me that Stradey Castle is now, no longer inhabited but is instead an events venue, which has taken me by surprise. 😲

@@jaylyn7285, I'm sure that living around castles and ruins your whole life would take away the thrill. I do love my country's natural wonders, it is quite beautiful where I live. My brother-in -law was a genealogist and did a thorough search on our family. On the British side he went back to William the Conqueror and beyond..... (maybe that's more Norman) There were countless kings, dukes and the like. It was pretty fascinating, but I'm sure millions of other ppl have the same connections to this past. I've just always had an affinity to Britain and loved it's history, way before I knew of my ancestors. We in America do tend to love our British cousins!
@jaylyn72855 жыл бұрын
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow Oh wow!!! William the Conqueror!! Good gosh!! That's quite an impressive ancestry. You have blue blood running through your veins! That really is so fascinating. Seriously, you should write to the Queen. She has a huge passion for history and indeed her own heritage, plus you also have the genealogical evidence to back it up. It has been said in many documentaries I've seen, that the Queen takes a keen interest in all her daily correspondence so her Private Secretaries endeavour to make sure she sees as many as possible. Give it a try Jeri, at the very least she would have her secretary draft a letter back to you. That in itself would be a wonderful keepsake. 😊 I however, am definitely not from Royal descent! My family are predominantly Welsh, though we did have Welsh Kings & Queens centuries ago, hence all the castles!! 😂 No, I come from a long line of shop owners and other small businesses. My maternal grandmother was irish, from a long line of irish farmers, (I think that's where my love of gardening comes from, although she was far, far better at it than me and could turn the most arid, unsightly patch into an ornamental garden). I have met Prince Charles and I spoke very briefly to Prince Edward when I lived in London 30 yrs ago but that's it for me, unfortunately. 😒 🥀
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow5 жыл бұрын
@@jaylyn7285 There were a whole lot of bad guys in my lineage, especially in the Plantagenet line.. but what makes it so fun, is the ability to find so much information on these ppl because of their fame...or infamy. The shop owners, craftsmen, and farmers, those were the ppl doing all the real work. Now THAT IS something to be proud of. The other side of our family is very Dutch and settled in America in the 1600's.

I let it dry for couple days before removing from plywood circle. Hello Jeri, I'm happy for you that you've come to a good break in your garden. ;) The flower arrangement is Beautiful! I love your arrangements and flower history and their stories. I so appreciate you sharing your many talents with us. I've seen the illustrations in your books that you have showed us in your channel and the inspiration for your gardens, or maybe it's the other way around. 😉 But I believe my grandkids if I had any would love and with supervision spend a long time looking at all the details in every page. The bears are amazing, but what caught my eye was the basket of cat heads. I had just returned to my starter small home, and there was or is an orange tabby I called 'Tang' (not very original I know). She is wild and skittish, first winter she broke my heart when I notice she was trying to drink water out of a frozen birdbath. I went in my pjs to flip the huge chunk of ice and refill. I started giving her a little food when I would see her out. She hasn't been around in a while. Once, I believe was more her wanting a little Love. She got close and as I was putting food out she rubbed by hand and allowed me to pet her. So long story long, ☺️ the orange one really called out to me. Love ❤️your work, Thank You!!

Lucky, almost made me cry with that kitty story... we had a sad little boy cat that hung around our barn for weeks, but would never let me touch him. I left him food every day. One day, I found him inside our mud room inside a cupboard. I was able to pet him softly but not too much, he stayed there for about a week and then he just died! I was glad he had a little bit of human contact in his last days. Breaks my heart.
