I talk about what is in my opinion a very underinformed and unfair review of the Azeron Cyborg ... if you have any questions hit up the comments and I will try to answer them ... I assume that this video will prolly never be seen lol but this is unedited and LONG video talking about a lot of the points in this review.

As an Azeron Cyborg user, I can tell, that while it is not for every use scenario (say, games where you have to click on letters in a timely manner might be more challenging than on a keyboard or controller.. also, some platformers maybe are easier on a controller), it is just a device that was made specifically for gaming. I personally play Fortnite and I can't go back to the keyboard anymore (and I own just as expensive Apex Pro as my Azeron Cyborg... roughly the same price). And, I recently told my son who's great on both keyboard as well as controller this metaphor: picture the world where everyone since childhood played on an Azeron device paired with a mouse... all the games were created with Azeron or Azeron-kind of devices in mind... now imagine someone handing them a keyboard and asking to switch. I can not imagine a single person switching over. Not a single one. You'd suddenly find the keyboard clunky and finger gymnastics on it extremely uncomfortable, even repelling. However, it is not the world we are living in. So, switching to Azeron will be uncomfortable at first and you may want to give up (the first 3 days for me personally were hardest). There might be some adjusting, tinkering around, adopting, and figuring things out. There most definitely will be a period when you aren't as good as you were on your previous device. If you aren't willing to commit, then probably just stick to what you already know. But, if you do, you'll probably be better off.

The dude who did the play testing for the Azeron is a hardcore keyboard guy who has spent thousands on his keyboards. If you watch the intel extreme tech upgrade he has a desk dedicated to building keyboards. I’m not surprised he was biased toward keyboards as it basically would make is hobby pointless.

@@EyeonFGC But you can't lube switches, change the pcb dampening material, spin the keyboard 3 times counterclockwise when it's full moon or any of this esoteric pointless shit he is into. This is the typical guy who spends more time butchering his keyboard, than practicing his aim, techniques or strategic thinking. I mean you have to educate yourself up to some point in regards of your peripheral, but i think it's more important to develop a personalized and optimized key layout for your game (some people are into shooting with spacebar, because less pressure on the mouse means more accuracy), rather than changing the type of lube in your switches. And i think you also can see this mentality, when he playtests peripheral in a video. It's just your average bot in a lobby. Btw. i main Apex Legends on the cyborg. It's my first multiplayer online fps, i played the first 700h on a regular keyboard and now i am at 2300h, so 1600h on the Azeron. Best purchase of equipment i ever did in my life.

@crabjockey my advice is it’s really good if you play one game alot.however it does have a steep learning curve.i think it works better if you start a new game with the azeron before you even played it with a keyboard.my PvP play has gotten much better with the azeron vs keyboard.only complaint is that the stand azeron sells only lets you mount the azeron at an angle going left to right and I was hoping I could angle my azeron where the front of it is higher than the back end.

Also save yourself the trouble and buy the grip tape right away it truly makes a world of difference when using the azeron.i have the cyborg compact it works good for GW2 however if you are playing a game that uses more buttons I would recommend the non compact version.the four top buttons on the compact are hard to hit during the heat of battle so i use them for menus like inventory stats etc.all in all a great piece of equipment.high quality shipping packaging and also the screwdriver it comes with is nice.

@@Avioto just one little tip, don't stress too hard on the adjustments initially. Bring it to like 80% (you won't get it higher at first, trust me), play a few rounds, adjust it a little bit (small adjustments can make a big difference, but you have to feel it for a few rounds) and repeat. Turning your hand on the base plate and readjusting the towers for this new base positioning also can help. It's been a journey for me, but now i have an adjustment where i also can comfortably use the scorpion tails (btw i really like this wording) and all other keys.

As someone who uses the Cyborg, and now the cyro, it is a bit of a trip to get used to. With the Cyborg, it was easier seeing as I came from a tartarus. People like my housemate on the other hand, it took them 2-3 weeks to get used to it, but they've been a mouse and keyboard user for 20 someodd years. I can understand LTT on that portion, but everything else? Basically, why should we listen to him rather than the one who really used it? We have a speaker who has apprehensions towards a device and who prefers to give the test of someone else who does not want it in order to interpret behind the feelings of this person. And afterwards, he dares to say that it is a fair and objective test. So he gives us what he thinks of a product that he has never used, based on unreliable information. All he had to do was not buy it and say directly what he thought about it and it would be the same. And this guy has subscribers, employees and a salary for this job? In a real serious journalism club, he would get kicked in the ass and be escorted out.

I accidentally mantle over cover because with the keys I’m only able to hold A while in cover while joystick I can be on a slight angle so when I try to wallbounce off I don’t mantle (slide into cover is the same button as mantle in game with no way to change it). i know this is an old video, but I just got an azeron classic from my buddy who didnt use it (didnt play enough kb+m games with buttons to find it useful but enjoyed it as a product) and I gotta say: this thing is wild. Im a competitive WoW player whos been playing my entire rotation on a 12 button mouse for years because its hard for me to stretch my fingers to different keyboard keys. I have small hands, and G is even tough to press on a standard keyboard. My thumb tends to cramp a bit during raids because of my spamming and jumping around the side of my mouse, since I use all 12 keys with ctrl and shift modifiers for 3+ hours multiple times a week. diablo style games also give me the same problem. Games that rely on G or R (helldivers, many fps games as well) are difficult to stretch to and I always end up pressing the wrong button. I've lived with it my whole life because there wasnt really an option to fix it, so I adapted the best I can. But as I push harder into mythic raids, its showing more as a problem. The azeron literally solves all those problems. Yes, its a learning curve for sure. Im slow to pick up new peripherals though so thats expected, usually takes me a month or two. But I can already feel how intuitive it will be once I get used to it, and it allows me to have a far more comfortable experience gaming. Its also FANTASTIC for 3D modeling work too. The 3D printing lines are such a moot point. This could be because I 3D print as a hobby and for work, but 3D printed plastic isnt any worse than injection molded. Its LITERALLY cheap, but it doesnt feel cheap. It has weight, is strong, and will hold up like any other piece of plastic when printed correctly. 3D printing also allows for custom adjustments very easily, and new iterations of a product without a hefty tooling cost. The important parts of the azeron are not 3D printed, so it doesnt matter. The product looks clean either way and is very functional. My only complaints so far have been how easy it is to double press buttons. I do wish we could purchase some bumpers or something from azeron to provide extra resistance. But the product works very well for its intended purpose and maybe the light keys will prevent me from spazzing so much in games haha

Just to say in advance, I didn't watch this whole thing, lol. But I am happy to see someone call out that video. I literally came here from watching (part) of that Linus one as well. I have been wishing for YEARS to see some innovation with PC gaming peripherals, keyboard replacements in particular. After all, both the keyboard and mouse were not initially designed with games in mind, so I think there is a ton of headroom for improvement and new ideas, that has been literally untapped all this time. I am uncertain if this is the product for me, it has a steep price tag too, but I definitely might try it out some time. Another thing I realize is the HUGE learning curve to such a thing before I would be comfortable passing judgement. I have always felt my muscle memory is incredibly "strong" meaning I have a really hard time adjusting to new things and breaking old habitats (muscle memory). So, I know that I would have quite a bit of work ahead of me before even getting used to the device. I saw the part in the video where this was argued otherwise, so my presumption is that people differ pretty significantly in this regard. Thanks for the input on the product though. I am really happy just to see these products being made and reviewed.

I am glad that you feel this way about the video 😁 ... I was really annoyed watching that review I was like that was SUPER unfair haha. I also thought it was gonna take me WAY longer to learn than it did but I think because its a completely different shape that it doesn't mess with my muscle memory of doing stuff. I started with Valorant because it was very simple to use buttons for then some other games and fortnite. The secret is to find your staple button placements and always put them in the same spot. Just how spacebar, shift, CTRL/C, R and M are all usually the same Default actions in shooters, Jump, Sprint/Walk, Crouch, reload and Map (and like Tab or I for Inventory.) Once I had those buttons laid out and kept them the same in all games I play then I tailored the other buttons around those. and I use it slightly differently for things that aren't shooters. since I don't need the joystick I use it for other things like extra hotkeys.
@UldisBiz
@UldisBiz Жыл бұрын
I was hesitant too because I thought it would take forever to adjust my muscle memory. From my personal experience (only playing Fortnite), for 3 days I totally hated it, was forgetting my keys, changing them around, and trying to find binds that worked for me... after around 2 weeks of playing with bots and in practice areas for around 1-2 hours a day I was 80-90% hotkeying like on a keyboard before. Now, I'm by no means a great, skilled player. Just casually play with my son and try to get better. But one thing is for sure, technically it is a better solution than a keyboard simply due to the thumbstick movement + all keys at your fingertips (no finger gymnastics). I admire people who have no trouble reaching 5 (typically, heals or mobility items) and CTRL (crouch?) at the same time on a keyboard. I personally can't, haha. I've been playing K&M all my life but there's a limited amount of buttons that I can rely on, and in a fast-paced and unforgiving environment like Fortnite, I was struggling to find binds that I don't mess up. On my cyborg, I move without ever stopping (my thumb is always on the stick) and press both of these effortlessly. And, just like the author of the video said in the comment, when you get used to it, it is no different jumping from game to game as long as you keep the main buttons the same (all shooters have a bunch of these). Keep staple buttons the same, put some time in, and then it becomes irreplaceable. I had a brief period without my Azeron when I had to try to play Fortnite on a keyboard again, and I hated every moment. Don't want to go back...

23:24 That's actually the one benefit of controllers over keyboard. Why in the hell would you sacrifice three fingers to do the operation that one could do, and do better in both number of operations and degree of movement. That should've been the "lightbulb" moment for the review, because that's the core premise behind the design of the Azeron. The keyboard and mouse should not be on the pedestal its on as of the time of this writing. There are a glaring number of issues it presents that stem from its limitations that too many people just seem to hand wave away just due to famiłiarity.

While i agree with most of this, either he doesnt game as much as others or he has medium sized hands because as someone with a XL glove size ill tell you, holding your hands in certain positions for long hours is straining to the hand muscles. Because you gotta hold walk forward aka "W" and have uour other fingers reaching for some keys like r or f or t, while your ring and pinky on shift for sprint and a for side movements. So that he got tired holding down thise keys for a long time, note long time means hooooooours, and like repetitions eventually your nerves in your hands start yelling at your brain "quite killing us!!" I don't have the majority of my keys in a similar spot as my keyboard. And based on which keys I use the most I have them in different spots. Imagine if he reviewed the process of building or upgrading gaming PCs like he reviewed this beautiful piece of hardware: "It's just so much to faff about." I haven't bought an Azeron yet, but I'm looking at the Cyborg Compact. I got a Corsair optical keyboard and while I love it, its way too easy to make an accidental input, which I call "sleepy finger" as there is no mechanical detent to rest against. This thing would make playing games with all the binds like Tarkov SO much more comfortable. Awesome video dude. Subbed. ❤ Edit: OH LMAO HE DID, DIDN'T HE? 😂

Thats just fits the picture. Feels like the first "decade" Linus was one of us, now it's all about business. His or mine/ours. It's okay, I grew older. But yes, he is not a reference anymore and JUST before I bought my Cyborg I watched his "review", laughed and put the order. I have to admit, though, that the device is really intimidating at first. You did the right thing in using it right away, I suppose.

Great review! Linus soon f***** up with this review (and not only with this), so nowdays I'm watching his reviews with a lot of filters in my mind. Sometimes they speak something that completely didn't understand or just do it for money. But enough. What I miss is an option to have a named keys. As mentioned in the comments here - when you have an action button like instantly within a half second need to press a Q, then R, then F... Or A, X, Y for an XBOX. Then I'll just get dropped out of gaming process. To figure out what exactly I need to press. What I see for a solution - is a named buttons. Where all buttons instead of keyboard letters should have a proper name. For example - like on the chess board. Letter + number. Press B4 to do something unique. May be one day Azeron implement such thing. Also what makes me mad - how games are interpret input. For example I binded movement as Xbox Left stick. And the game can do a proper 360° movement instead 8-direction of WASD. as well as move intensity depends on how far I push the stick. Pretty common thing for a console players. But as far I press move, all onscreen hints fully switched to XBOX controller keys. As soon as I move mouse - everything is switched back to the keyboard. I see that it's a game issue. But didn't find a solution. CoD: Warzone as an example. It works, but both possible labels need to interpret into a specific button. Just annoying. The possible solution is to use XBOX only buttons, but it's limited in count. Also one usability thing aside of everything mentioned. When I set up everything for me, some buttons are so close to each other, so pushing one, pushed also another. Or some buttons even get stuck. Possibly narrow button caps should fix this issue. But don't want to cut it with knife. Otherwise this is a great product! And after the consoles (10+ years everything on the gamepad), Cyborg is the only solution when you have the best of both worlds in 1 device.

From what I've seen of the Azeron, it looks like its main downside is just dimensions / vertical footprint. Each finger looks like it operates in three dimensions, while a keyboard has effectively been a flat surface ever since its inception. The Azeron is to keyboards as the Steam controller is to dual analog stick controllers. They both seem like the clear path forward but require an open mind and willingness to spend the time to customize it to your specific needs. Another analogy that comes to mind is the electric car versus the internal combustion powered vehicle. It clearly fits the needs better for a vast majority of people and contexts but most of the arguments I see are the downsides present in niche scenarios. Only thing I'd love to see is a dual Azeron setup with mouse integration. Only criticism I could offer is that it doesn't look very portable, (niche scenario).

And, trust me, first 3 days I didn't want to play with anyone in the team, as I was just playing atrociously bad (and, I'm by no means a good player, haha). I wanted to write off expenses, put it aside and forget about it. But, I pushed through. Around 2 weeks later I felt like I'm 80-90% hotkeying just like on a keyboard. Now, I can't go back to KB as it feels like a totally ridiculous device for people who love to torture themselves with finger-gymnastics, haha. And, no, I didn't turn from shit-player to god-like player but at least I can't blame the device for it, as I can reach all the buttons while moving non-stop without messing up. And it is so comfy that I want to spend more time practising for the game.

I'm kind of considering an azeron, linus seemed to hit all the wrong spots on my concerns It's so wildly different than a keyboard, doesn't have any competition, I'm worried about longevity, and learning to use this weird product and end up not having access to one in the future. How has quality control been? I heard some people say the 3-d printing quality shows 35:06 ( i'd totally bind my movement to the keys, thumb for layers.)
@EyeonFGC
@EyeonFGC Жыл бұрын
I mean you can tell its 3D printed parts but it doesn't feel cheap. I use mine every single time I play any game (except fighting games, mostly shooters, RPGs, Action games etc.) The only thing I would say is after ALOT of use some of the joints get loose if there are a lot of times that you press hard on the keys. so the teeth that are in the joints will start to ware and will be easier to push them out of position. Since its HIGHLY custom to how you want the keys to sit that could get annoying but since I never intend to change it I just super glued those particular joints in place. I am not sure how they could improve that because there are already tension screws to tighten that I can't really tighten any more than they are but the way I super glued it in place I don't have to worry about them moving from the position that I want. The other problem that I had was my joystick was like raised on one side by a millimeter but I had not noticed it till I wanted to use the restrictor ring and I couldn't seem to calibrate it correctly. I emailed Azeron and told them the problem and I opened up the casing and took a picture of it. The game me the choice of sending it back to have it fixed or just have them send me the part and I could install it. They also have a video on how to replace the joystick. I asked them to send me the part and they shipped it to me and it got to me in a few days. I was still using the joystick but I just couldn't use the restrictor ring. but right now I don't use it any way but my Joystick is correct now. If I had to but another one for any reason after all the ware I put this one through I still would. But I would get a Compact Cyborg tho.

Even in CS there is absolutely no reason to press both a and d at the same time. It is identical to pressing nothing. Counterstrafing is a frequently misunderstood thing where you quickly tap the opposite direction AFTER releasing the other direction. It’s useful in cs as you coast to a stop slowly so tapping the opposite key will stop you quicker to be accurate in shooting. It’s been pretty much proven in valorant that counterstrafing does essentially nothing. You can still do it if you’re used to it but you don’t have to as valorant doesn’t have the coasting stop issue. Idk what Linus means in that part of the video, unless you’re really used to stopping by holding both keys. Ironically that would make it impossible to countertrafe in cs and you’d be worse off. Idk how that argument. translates to an analog stick though if you release the stick it accomplishes the exact same thing.

I watched both LTT and Hardware Canuck's review of the Azeron Cyborg and both are kinda bad. The only "good" thing about them is they clearly use language that tattles on themselves as "I'm stubborn and am really just looking for a device to do exactly what I was doing before, how I was doing it before." That is literally not the point of this device. If you can't adjust to working within how it intentionally wants to work -- then you have a bad faith review. LTT's was especially awful because the entire video was super condescending towards the product. Linus' own weak "oh, but I have some good things to say" doesn't cover it. Anyone who genuinely comes from ignorance is not well attuned to the device, and what it can and does do for a vast majority of users and PC game scenarios. I'm glad someone is out here blasting the review for the junk it was. Let's just say that at least with LTT, they almost certainly have some sort of broad bias, if not soft spoken alliance with the major and popular product manufacturer's to take their products seriously and do due dilligence where they don't have it for other products. Some of the best stuff out there isn't made by Logitech, Razor, SteelSeries, or any traditional major gaming/PC device manufacturer anymore. If you want a "refined' and reasonble cost version of the same stuff that's out there, stick to those companies. If you're trying to do something very different and rethink how/if you're doing it right, look elsewhere.

However unlike the keyboard, if such a key is hard coded (shamefully still happens) you can use a keypads software to still bind that key to wherever you want. Keypads in general win hand down in this regard compared to your average keyboard. 1:10:41 Indeed still use a keyboard that should be in a museum by now. (A Logitech G15 from 2007 or 2008. My Keyboard is almost old enough to vote) Pretty sure I would have replaced it if I did not buy a keypad instead. Anyway another weird argument from Linus. That's like claiming that a PC gamer should not buy an Xbox because the price of the Xbox comes on top of the PC you also buy. Sure financially you as a buyer have to take that into account. However it not an overall argument against buying an Xbox, just a financial choice someone had to make.

Ok, watched to the end, and here's my tldr: Like it or not this product is trying to reinvent the wheel, just like every other one in this category, and I was curious about trying it, but after watching this video? Pass. I'm conviced that there's no reason to buy it, the main point you made in this 1h+ video is that the Cyborg is customizable, but so is my keyboard. You said it yourself, it's a niche product that is catered to enthusiasts! And WHY do I want to solve a problem that either I didn't have or both the keyboard AND the Azeron have, why the hell do I need a Azeron?! Look, if your objective was for the viewer to NOT want to try the Azeron, congratz! You made your point clear, otherwise? Believe it or not Linus did a better job promoting it.
@EyeonFGC

My point was not to make people not want to buy it and it was also NOT to make people WANT to buy it ... its also NOT for someone who doesn't want to or feel the need to use something other than a keyboard. The Azeron does not replace the Keyborard completely because I would not use it for everything, like typing and fighting games or driving games. But I play alot of shooters, action games and other games that the azeron feels very good to use with. I also use it for editing video because instead of using multiple keys I can use one key press for things like cut, paste, undo, the joystick is set to scrub the timeline, other advanced cutting methods. The Azeron can be very useful and comfortable. Its just a different style of controller. I am not trying to make it out as something that its not. The POINT of the video was to point out the UNFAIR assessment of the Azeron in this Review from Linus who DIDN'T have the time to even try it AND the person that took 2 months and also didn't really even try it when that was his job. I have used it for a year now and I prefer it for most games OVER a keyboard. I did have a problem that the Azeron fixed and EVERYONE doesn't have that same problem. The same way I decided that I don't like using controller for FPS games because its not comfortable to aim, when others don't have that problem. Maybe the Azeron just isn't worth it for you.

Also it being a year past I just posted another video showing some things that people might want to consider before getting an Azeron. Not to deter people, but the ACTUAL issues MAY be a deal breaker for some people, but not for me because I like using it too much and there isn't any other device that is built how the Azeron is. I was thinking about the Razer one but that D-Pad isn't an analog joystick and I don't think I prefer the way the buttons are set up on that one in comparison to the Azeron Cyborg. I even say that if I could change the one I got I would have gotten the Cyborg Compact cause I really like using the Scorpion tail buttons really.

During the time of this video I didn't get paid at all for that code I didn't start getting paid for that code until like a year later. I only asked them for the code cause my Azeron was in ALL my content and people kept asking me where to get it. So The code was solely to let them know I was sending people their way. Then a year later I asked them how my code was doing and they upgraded it to an affiliate code so I would be compensated everytime someone used it.
@GM-qi8pw

@@EyeonFGC yeah, but the reason you say you are not sponsored is to show that you are unbiased. but you clearly show it in your videos and have a code for it. so if your code does well, then eventually you will get it promoted to an affiliate code, like it did. and therefore you can make money of it. this is clearly a "conflict of interest" whether is is conscious or unconscious. and it shows that you are in some way biased. but this is not serious and i don't care. but I did find it funny. you do you. have a nice one.

@GM-qi8pw ... yes, thats why I said it... I wasn't being paid at all and I am unbiased. If you watch my other more recent azeron video I go over all the problems I had with it and the issues that may be a deal breaker for people looking to get one... and THAT video my code WAS generating money compensated for at that time. This video with Linus I specifically made because I didn't agree with the lazy review so I sat there and picked it apart. I had been using the Azeron for like 3+ months during that time.

@GM-qi8pw It is Not a Conflict of Intrest lmao ... I was not being sponsored, I was not being paid in any way, I didn't receive anything for free and was not asked to make the video everything I said was not flat out positive, the things I said were debunking the bs that they said in the video based on my expierence with the device.

@@EyeonFGC lol just because you can say some negative things about a product / point out some flaws, doesn't mean that you are unbiased. let's make a sport analogy. I am a fan of Manchester United. I can pick apart all of their flaws that they have this season and the previous season. yet if you ask me how their next game is gonna go against a big team. I'm still gonna give them a higher % chance of winning than a normal unbiased football fan would. the point is whether it is conscious or unconscious (like in your case) you have a bias. I am not saying that makes you a bad person of whatever. but when people make money from things, they are biased. like for example a video game reviewer that get flown out to a big event and pampered to when showcased a video game. they will probably not go as hard against the game as they would have and will be more softer in their review. even though they they were not paid and would not consider themselves biased. same as in if you get a game for free for a review copy AND get to put out a review a few days before the game comes out. even though they were not paid directly. they will make some bucks indirectly from the review copy. in both examples they would have an unconscious bias because they would like to get the same treatment or there is some money to be made. doesn't make the review a sponsored one but still a bias and I would rather trust a review where the person paid for the game themselves and got no special treatment rather than some reviewer who got some kind of special treatment. do you understand? and btw I didn't even watch the video. I clicked off soon after you made that comment (not because of it, I just saw the style this was and was not interested) So you might as well have made some good points and Linus some bad ones. but anyways, have a good one ;)

Such a shame that it’s not fully customisable :( Why shove that analog stick down people’s throats for 170$? Why not let them fully configure that thing and keep the wasd? How are you going to comfortably jump or double jump without a key UNDERNEATH the thumb? Why you should extend your thumb to press a key instead?
Is this a Deal Breaker for you? [ Azeron Cyborg ]
