Take a big bag of good potting soil...put a few holes in bottom for drainage. Just put about 4 or 5 potatoes in and water. They will grow right in the bag...thats a small space too 👍

Great video. I have been planting seed potatoes in grow bags. No digging involved except to shovel in compost from my bins. Grow bags makes harvesting very easy, but I see that you were more or less able to pull all the potatoes up by the stems and leaves. Digging up potatoes with a spade or fork tends to result in damaging several.

Some more tips: The hilling technique only works with indeterminate varieties as they grow multiple layers but they take more time. Determinate vareties only grow 1 layer but they can be harvested quicker. Check your potatoes for what type they are. Also, you can let them grow longer than in the video, until the plants turn yellow / brown. The plants here were still very green. Stop watering them as soon as they start drying out or they might rot. Good luck!

This year on my potatoes, I went full Ruth Stout method. I placed the potatoes on the dirt and covered them with about 8 to 10 inches of hay. 45 to 60 days later, I added another 4 to 6 inches of hay. That’s all I did. harvest was easy. I took a rake, pulled back all of the hay off of the potatoes. The new potatoes were resting on top of the soil. Approx 100-110 lbs the laziest way I’ve ever done.
