The cave sketch is one of my favourite comedy scenes of all time. It's sad, poignant, funny. Massively underrated

Britain has a rich history of surreal comedy but this one really pushed the boundaries and yet somehow remained accessible to most people. It's like they created the comedy version of Salvador Dali's paintings but made it appeal to the average person and not just a tiny number of art history majors who believe they should like something because they are told it's important. The League of Gentleman isn't my favourite comedy but it's one I love.

@@robertcooke1774 I'm aware of the work you reference and yet I would argue there is a great deal of difference between what you reference and this.

If they'd made a show just following the day to day of Bernice I'd have watched it. Fantastic character.

I love the League of Gentlemen, Psychoville and Inside Number 9. I hope you get round to the latter 2 eventually. All 3 are gold!

Ahh mate, so good to see another video posted of one of my favourite shows. Just spent 8 hours on the road to Scotland, then another day dealing with stressful stuff. And I'll tell ya something, it's so good to hear a familiar, welcoming person like you to calm my anxieties. Thanks Josh.

Yeah, "blue movies" are porn, but Trois Couleurs Bleu is serious drama. Think dense, slow Existential angst. Kieślowski's A Short Film About Killing packs a punch, if you ever wanted to go down that route.

IMO you don't really need to be familiar with the bands the glam-rock guy mentions (I don't know most of them). The main point is he's into the kind of rock which was very unfashionable after punk / the late '70s. And was still very unfashionable when this show was made ('99). Still quite unfashionable today, although with today's pop music, almost anything from the past sounds great!

Stick with it. The series is weakest at the start, especially with that laugh track.
