And people think superhero-movies have problems with inconsistent powers ... i think we need a supercut of all the times Nicolai conveniently forgot about his "superpowers", especially mindreading and manipulation. At least the "good guys" have X-Men with firebreath on their side and an invincible president. Then again it makes sense he doesn't kill Kirk, since he's clearly interested in more than a "professional" relationship - Kirk just doesn't get the signals ...

Because the Carpathians are in Romania, and they had a dictator called Nicolae. Geddit? I mean, wow! That is some amazing writing. If I ever write a post apocalyptic novel, I'm calling my villain Adolph Alpine, possibly Augusto Andes.

Well i think you are reading too much into this 😄 Carpathia? Ok, but i'm pretty sure the writer(s) never heard of Nicolae Ceaușescu, since he has nothing to do with their evangelical bubble. I'm sure he's called Nicolae because that seems to be a name fitting for a Romanian - Vlad would have been a little bit too much on the nose. The way all those antichrists rise to power in Europe in rapture movies is just so ... special. It taught me these people know nothing about politics outside of their country. And funnily enough they don't believe people following other faiths are actually into their own religions - when the antichrist says "ban all religion" everyone aside the "true" christians is fine with that ...

I live in an area full of those crunchy granola types and heard/saw some crazy shit. One of the funniest things was seeing the liberals in the area do such a fast 180 on vaccines that I'm surprised their necks didn't snap: there were tons of antivaxxers who suddenly started supporting vaccines when Trump and his followers were critical of vaccines and vaccine mandates. My local stores sold out of ginger and turmeric as people were buying it by the bucket load to cure/prevent covid, I saw people filling grocery bags with the stuff. I talked to someone who worked at a farm supply store and they had people constantly coming in for Ivermectine (that deworming medication for livestock).

Here is an excerpt from what is essentially a 'Left Behind Games Inc.' cease and desist letter. (I just had to look it up after Brad mentioned it. The game is called Left Behind: Eternal Forces.) "Left Behind Games Inc. generally supports free speech in the media and understands how important it is to have various opinions presented for public consumption. It will not, however, tolerate the publication of information regarding its products that is false or misleading. Left Behind Games Inc. is demanding that you immediately remove any and all information contained on your site about the above stated game that is false and/or misleading, including any such statements or commentary and the responses thereto. This includes posted comments made by others in the context of reading the incorrect or misleading statements. If you do not comply immediately, the company will be forced to pursue additional legal action which will include claims for damages, costs of suit and attorney's fees. This may subject you and your organization to significant legal and financial damages." I wish I made this up, but this is allegedly what bloggers/reviewers at the time were greeted with upon criticizing the game. Just thought this would be interesting to share. Really goes to show that attempts at false takedowns have always been around.

I stopped watching the MCU by the time of Winter Soldier, when I realise that the whole twenty six plus movies are nothing more than military propaganda, and that is not even a hyperbole, the Pentagon reviews and changed the scripts themselves. So one is a water washed corny hyper religious trilogy and the other are twenty six movies of stupid military propaganda with pseudo-lefty message, by the villains, because the "heroes" always keep the status quo, apart of the spectacle, the MCU is not different from Left Behind, only with better cinematography.

Because pre-tribulation rapture theology is absolute nonsense and has no root in historic Christianity and was the invention of a fundamentalist preacher in the 19th century who got the idea after he heard a girl had a vision about a pre-tribulation rapture. Logic of the pre-tribulation rapture is absolutely insane because the passage which is often appealed to to argue for it 1st Thessalonians 4:13 - 18 is referring to the resurrection of the dead and the righteous being taken out of the world prior to its final destruction and renewal in the age to come. It somehow the pre-tribulation rip this passage out of its context and misinterpret what it says
