😊Thank you for taking the time to give valuable replies to some commentators. I find you very respectful, thoughtful and understanding. You also show that we have to take into consideration the age in which scriptures were revealed and the customs and traditions of people of that time. Today we must seek to understand the underlying meanings! 🌟

Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful observation! 😊 It’s true-context is everything when interpreting scriptures or understanding any historical document. The customs, traditions, and societal norms of the time in which they were revealed shaped the messages, and understanding those nuances is key to uncovering their deeper meanings. In today’s world, we have the privilege of tools like history, linguistics, and even technology to help us interpret and adapt these teachings to modern realities. Let's keep seeking knowledge and understanding together! 🌟

Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. He was upright and devoted to God, never an idolater,

Thanks for your comment! You're right that Abraham is seen as a key figure in all three major Abrahamic religions-Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In fact, Islam, in particular, emphasizes that Abraham was not aligned with any specific religious identity but was upright and devoted solely to God. His legacy is one of faith, devotion, and obedience, and he's revered for rejecting idolatry and establishing monotheism. It’s fascinating how different traditions honor his life and message.

I’m sorry to say, but I had trouble listening to this video. The music competed with the voice at times, and the voice sometimes seemed rushed. 💫

Abraham's legacy *as a father* earns him the title of "sick prankster." Imagine your dad taking you out for a walk in the woods and realizing he intended to kill you. At the last minute, he gets it into his head that "This is not a good idea" and puts the knife down. Will you be able to trust him ever again? So you want to defend this as proof of his love for god because god told him to do it to prove his love. What kind of sick entity would ask anyone to do something as hideous as kill his own child? It falls under the category of *psychopathy with homicidal ideation.* Oh, okay. You say "god works in mysterious ways." It's still *really sick to even THINK about it.* There's no moral defense at all.

Thank you for sharing your perspective, and I understand how this story can be disturbing when viewed through a modern lens. The account of Abraham's test of faith, where he was asked to sacrifice his son, is certainly one of the most challenging narratives in religious texts. However, it's often interpreted symbolically rather than literally. Many scholars believe that this story represents an extreme test of Abraham's faith and trust in God, not an endorsement of violence or cruelty. The key takeaway for many believers is that Abraham didn't actually sacrifice his son-God intervened at the last moment to stop him. Some interpret this as a divine message: that human sacrifice is wrong and faith is not about blind obedience but trust in a higher moral order. Yes, the story is unsettling, and it raises moral questions that continue to be debated. But it's also a story of ultimate devotion, a test of moral and spiritual limits, and, perhaps, a lesson in trusting that love and mercy prevail in the end. In the context of the times it was written, it carried a powerful message about the transition away from human sacrifice, which was common in ancient cultures. I completely agree that these kinds of stories are difficult to reconcile with modern morality. But religion often deals with complex, symbolic, and sometimes paradoxical ideas that require deeper reflection rather than a surface-level interpretation.

@@Enlight_IQ Fast forward to the crucifixion episode. If the historical events of Christianity are to be believed, the central character was tortured and killed. That remains a supreme tenet of Christianity and has become its universal symbol. I still can't find any reassurance that *god loved Jesus.* I'm basing my opinion on the fact that I have an adult child, a son, and my love for him will never allow anything harmful to come his way. Just one of the reasons I lost faith and became an agnostic humanist. ☮

@@cycoklr Thank you for sharing your perspective. Your love for your son is a beautiful reflection of parental care, and it’s completely understandable that stories like the crucifixion raise deep emotional and philosophical questions. In Christian theology, the crucifixion is viewed as an act of ultimate sacrifice, with Jesus choosing to endure suffering out of love for humanity-a concept that many find difficult to reconcile, especially from a parental perspective. It’s these complexities that lead people to different conclusions, whether in faith, agnosticism, or humanism. Ultimately, I believe these conversations are important, not just for understanding religion, but also for understanding ourselves and the values we hold dear. Respect and peace to you on your journey of belief. ☮
