You missed that the chi blockers fought like Ty Lee

Fun Fact: Chi blocking first into the fire nation from a princess (who was a non-bender) that learned it from the air nomads. If I remember correctly, she was Sozin's sister.

At this stage in Korra's journey, her identity is wrapped around her bending. So to have someone be able to take something that she identifies with and cherishes, it scares her. Notice, in the dream Amon says, "After I take your bending, you will be nothing." That is how Korra views herself, without her bending she is nothing and she has no purpose. That's essentially the significance of her dream.

I love the fact that Korra would've been a perfect avatar for Aang's time. It's 100 years of war going on, and Korra loves confrontation. Aang would've been the perfect Avatar for now. It's a time of piece, and he's a passivist and more spiritually inclined than Korra.

Peace and piece are completely different words, my friend

Shady Shen is actually the guy's name 😅 ps: 8:30 this is literally what Tai Lee was doing in ATLA , and yes the avatar has chi ,so his chi can be blocked just like with other people.

Not every place in the world is like republic city. Lighting is more common cus its needed for people to power the city and other parts of work in the industry.
@amahlgrant5 ай бұрын
Yeah, a lot of people incorrectly think that Republic City represents the entire avatar world. It is just one of the best of the world. And one of the worst in terms of crime.

The technology jump is roughly parallel to the real world between 1850 and 1920. But Also, Republic City is the forefront of technological development. Later episodes explore the rest of the world, it's a little bit behind tech wise.

Legend of Korra was originally intended to be a 1 season show that's why the pacing is so fast to wrap everything up by the end of the season, but then it was so successful by the end they decided to continue it

People can shit on this series all they want. And though I do agree there are parts that could have been handle differently or better, it still has some THE BEST character development I've seen in a very long time. They make them feel more human, and they weren't afraid to make them be vulnerable when they were scared.

30:21 I'm impressed at how flexible that host is, he can bend himself in half.

24:00 korra definitely is traumatized about amon's powers...all her life she only wants to be the avatar and she thinks without her bending she is nothing

Hello bro, cool reaction, and although I’ve already watched this series several times, everything is fine, I like watching different reactionaries usually I watch Russian-speaking ones, but you’re great, good luck to you

Kora is so gullible, thinking that Amon was going to show up alone for her dumb “duel”. Even after she saw how dangerous Amon was, she was practically asking for a beating. Aang was smarter than her at that age
@amahlgrant5 ай бұрын
I think that's the point. She was deathly afraid of Amon and lost rationality. She was only trying to prove herself because of her fear, she said it herself, she's never been this afraid before.
@reddemon66685 ай бұрын
@@amahlgrant right so deathly afraid she waited for him alone at a specified spot she herself selected, alone, at night, and expecting her opponent to do the same… did I mention she did it alone? Without a plan or 3rd party to at least make sure things went down righteously. Call it what you want, it’s no excuse for how dumb it was to make that choice. You don’t see people in fear telling a radical opponent capable of stroking others of their power to catch them outside. Imagine if Aang sent the fire lord a message to catch him outside fire nation outskirts all alone. Aang was scared too, and the world was waiting for him to prove himself but u didn’t see him being dumb enough to think his opponent would actually be either weak or dumb enough to show up alone for a fair 1 v 1 battle. In fact, anyone who isn’t a gullible idiot, regardless of emotional stance, would ever make such an obviously dumb claim.

@@reddemon6668 It’s literally a part of the plot that it wasn’t a good idea. Why are you so upset about it?
@amahlgrant5 ай бұрын
@@reddemon6668 Okay, so clearly you don't understand Korra's character one bit: 1. Her fear: Korra was afraid of Amon, given that he can take away one of the major pillars of her identity as the avatar, her bending. Fear often brings forth irrationality, Korra grew up isolated from the world, thus, her experience of the world is very much lacking. She was pressured into joining Tarrlock's task force and after fighting and winning a few chi blockers, her premature confidence grew. And so, in an attempt to finally confront and overcome her fear, she thought of a way to solve it that only a character like Korra would, a duel. Korra's line of thinking due to her personality and way of growing up, was fighting. That's all the white lotus taught her. No history, or diplomacy. Just fighting and so at this point in her character development that's the most logically way to solve a problem, with a hammer. Now, obviously things can go wrong and Amon can show up with others but remember, she easily fought a few chi blockers earlier that day. I urge you to remember, Korra isn't an average bender or fighter, she's one of the best of the best. Along "her" logic (which is what matters), she has fought and defeated the best of the best bender in training, she was taught by Katara and the entirety of the white lotus. She thinks that if anything goes wrong, she has this. 2. Korra's POV: Now what is most important to a story is NOT for a character's actions to make sense logically and objectively to the audience, but for it to make sense to the character, that's how writing works (glad you're not a writer). The Joker does a lot and I mean a LOT of illogical things that make no sense to the audience logically, why? Because it needs to make sense to the character and not necessarily the audience. Look at Jinx as another example, her actions were very unnecessary and yet the writers made sure that her actions made sense from her point of view. What doesn't make sense to you doesn't matter if it makes sense to Korra. 3. Comparison to Aang: Now, let me provide you with a major example of something that made little sense logically to us (for me as the audience) but made sense to Aang. Remember Aang running away? If you look into it semi-deeply, it made little sense. Aang running away was selfish for a lot of reasons from an audience's and logical perspective. He chose to save himself, abandoning his duties and responsibilities simply because he didn't want to be the avatar. Logically, does that sound right? To chose yourself over the world? Now you can use his age and other things to excuse this but it would fall flat given his teachings and upbringing not being similar to your average child in the real world. But where it begins to make sense is when you think from his POV. He was about to be sent off to another air temple to start his avatar journey and this sudden change of pace in his life shocked him. Now all of a sudden, everything that was dear to him may be a thing of the past because now he was the responsibility of being the avatar. I could point out a few other instances but I digress. (Side note: There's also a STRONG argument that if he stayed, he wouldn't have died as a guarantee) 4. Korra's Problem Solving: Now what makes a character interesting is the differing ways in which they slice problems, it has to be unique AND make sense for the character. Now, the origins of Korra's way solving problems was already addressed previously. So, what I will focus are examples. Korra's Problem solving skills are basically force. Whether a fight, intimidation, or coercion. Now here's examples of each: Fight- Opening scene with the gang members, Korra with the deputies in book 3. Intimidation- Korra threatening Tarlok, Unalaq, Zaheer and the Red Lotus, or that bender in book 3 et cetera. Coercion- Korra trying to convince General Iroh to fight against the ___ Pole. Or her convincing Tenzin to take her with him when told he can't train her at the south pole. Essentially, what is dumb to you is irrelevant as long as it makes sense to the character.
