Respect to the native American people from the Celtic people of Ireland.

I have Scottish and Irish ancestry, but I really admire our indigenous people here in America. So much to be learned from them.

The Tree has a beating heart. The river has a pulse. The wind has a song. The mountain gives us a shadow, and the clean air is undisturbed by the strong winds. The music of all these things calms the inner parts, and brings peace, while the creatures applaud.

First generation American. My family comes from Denmark. I wholeheartedly and fully worship my gods. My grandfather, "step" grandfather, on my mom's side, was 100% Cherokee, native American. He was the only member in that side of the family I had ever connected with. The Scandinavians and the Native Americans have way too much in common. His stories always reminded me of Norse mythology. And it was all native American. Every single story he ever told me could be equated to Norse myth. We definitely serve the same gods. We just call them by different names.

This is a perfect articulation of whether we experience happiness or despair on life's journey - you either feed the wolf which represents ego or the wolf that represents the heart/spirit - the latter brings you true joy and peace, yet everything which feeds the ego brings suffering.

God bless everyone in the comments and to the natives. I love this tale and I always remind myself of it when things get tough. When I see others who go through rough times I look within myself to know my own faults. When I see others who do well I don’t get envious, but instead remind myself of my own great qualities.

This really hit me. I teared while hearing these words. This westernized society is feeding the evil wolf. I'm ready to step out from today's society. The more primitive skills you learn the more independent you will become from the world we're custom too.

the way i understood the story is that in the end both wolves are immortal, or atleast they will only die after you die. So if you choose to fed one and let the other starve, you then will have to spend the rest of your life looking over your shoulder. And the conclusion was feeding in this sense represent time you spend understanding the wolf hence your emotions, and if you ignore and supress without understanding those emotions you deem as negative one day you will just release them without thinking of the consequences as the wolf finally found something to eat.

The Cherokee version apparently goes a lot further and talks about feeding both in correct proportions as it is impossible to function without both. Kind of like Kirk needed Spock, who needed McCoy. They were each a mess when separated, but together an amazing group that sought balance between them.

I think one wolf is the spirit and the other is the flesh if you feed the flesh more then your spirit the flesh will be stonger but if you feed the spirit more than the flesh the spirit will be stronger i know the wisdom of the world is foolish but this is how i interpet it the bible has spiritual wisdom take in more spirit and it will overcome the flesh i was raise a jehovahs witness and this is how i see my battle pray to jehovah.
