Travis has actually been playing Thor for ten years in various animated and video game material. When he was brought back in for the Marvel's Avengers game, commemorating his tenth year as the character, he decided to get a tattoo to honor it. Instead of getting something typical like Mjolnir, he got the old Germanic/Norse runic word that means "to be worthy" on the side of his wrist. He said he got it so that every morning whenever he brushes his teeth or shaves and sees it in the mirror, it serves as a reminder to himself that he's worthy of the life he has - amazing career, great group of friends, and a wonderful wife (Laura Bailey) and son (Ronin).

A little extra context on the gunslinger, since I didn't see the comments mention this; the campaign that Critical Role started with was actually originally Matt's home game of Pathfinder, and gunslinger was a class in Pathfinder from the beginning. But when they had the idea to turn the game into an actual play show, they moved over to D&D 5th Edition, so Matt had to convert the class into 5e and then later published it. :)

I stick by the thought i had when D&D really clicked for me. players don't just live one life, they live multiple. The characters over time become real in a sense, memories of events that happened and interactions in game affect and change people, usually for the better. If you're playing this game, you're living another life for however long the character or campaign manages to last. And it's SO. FUCKING. INCREDIBLE.
