Fun fact: We didn't actually get this part of the story in the Vox Machina campaign. The web show started in the middle of the Underdark Arc which happens after this story.

Yea we never got to see brimscythe in the campaign since it was pre stream but is obviously super important to the rest of the conclave story line which takes up such a huge chunk of the series. These first few episodes set up the 2 major arcs of the entire series

@@North29TH I think the idea is to cover briarwoods in the first season and then do conclave in the second, or at the very least try to get another season of it

@@juliamcdonough4175 Hopefully they get more than 2. The Briarwood arc is 14 episodes. The Chroma Conclave is 45 (or 50 if you include setup episodes like Trial of the Take and the intro to Victor). So I think they need at least 2, maybe 3 seasons for Chroma Conclave.

Given Amazon already renewed for a season two before they released season one makes me think they won’t really hesitate to keep it going if it does wel.

Hey folks in the comments, mayhaps we not talk about things that are not pertinent to the episode, ie future campaign/plot points. This show is reaching a wider audience and not everyone watched the campaign or knows about what can/will happen, so even just dropping certain names can be seriously spoilery. So, maybe keep that stuff buried under spoiler warnings or wait to talk about 'em.

i love that you are both critters! also i like that you can tell when you can compare whats happening in the episode to the actual game play. "like pike being exhausted after the battle = being out of spell slots so she couldnt heal"

Keyleth being informed by Marisha is a lot of fun... if you watched the stream a lot of it was her as a new playing getting excited about new spells, not ever having tried them out and not knowing exatly how their mechanics might play out, but wanting to... That is kinda what I get out of the whole call lightning on a blue dragon, lol. It is kinda the opposite of meta gaming... a player who is actually as new to stuff as the character she is playing is.

I really enjoyed this first episode. I knew it was going to have a mix of humor and raunchy, but was not expecting things to go hard on the emotion as well, although I probably should have. Hope this series ends up being successful and is able to run for a few seasons, maybe even branching off in to the Mighty Nine campaigns if things go well.

You can actually start watching the campaign up to about episode 23. Although episodes 15-23 have elements that will probably come up in season 2 of the animated series (if that's the Chroma Conclave arc, as speculated). And episodes 24-25 is episode 3 of the series.

i love the show so far, my only issue is with how quickly they moved through this storyline. also i saw in a tweet that matt didnt know they were going to make that guard look like him, it was a surprise to him. my favorite thing is still percy looks like david tennant's doctor. and krieg is david tennant.

The only episode I think was too fast was episode 2. I think they could have drawn out the mystery a bit more, and made it more of a fight. But I think it's also right on that cusp of 2 episodes would have been too long and would have slowed it down too much. And I think they wanted to make more room for the Briarwoods. In campaign it was 14 episodes. In the series it's 10. So I think the pacing is going to even out now that they're in the actual arc.

Grace always has terrible takes like that - it's just surface level. The main characters consist of four distinct races, plus the twins mixed heritage - but she clearly means 'diversity' in the unseen cast, yet having some of the most important figures in the kingdom voiced by PoC's doesn't count either. Likely she just saw photo of the principle cast, saw they were all white and added 'no diversity' to her list of bullet points.
