Can confirm that this show has gotten my daughter and her fiancé AND her best friend and her fiancé to want to play. My daughter literally called me up three days after I told her about the show and said...."Hey question.....I know you play D&D now....but didn't you say you used to run games too?" I said yes, a long time ago...why? She says "So we all watched Vox together and I think we kinda want to play, could you do that?" Look...I am a 46 year old grown a$$ man...but I turned into a blabbering super excited fan boy for about 5 minutes... Taliesin Jaffe (Percival) is a big fan of gothic horror and the TTRPG “Vampire: The Masquerade” so Matt Mercer (The DM) created the Briarwoods basically as a gift for his friend. Been watching people play D&D on streams for years prior and I really wanted to try it out; just the idea of playing as non traditional races heavily had me hooked about it. The Intro reminds me of my "DnD Lite" days, i never really played PROPER DnD - I tried - but the whole Character Creation and Rolls and Stuff kept me from it, instead I played - and created - Forum based Campaigns where you would of course create your character, but there had been no rolls. The Rules basically had been: No God-Characters (invunerable, overpowered etc.) No Player Killing/Injuring (unless agreed to) etc. The longest of these campaigns - or two - would be going on for about 4 years, with my character - a humanoid Wolf - in the second campaign having aged, having lost a arm and blinded in an attack that cost him his family (he had between campaign 1 and 2) being the char my fursona is actually based on. God, i miss these days where i would spend day after day after school writing with the others boys and girls in the forum, going on an adventure fighting evil.
