If anyone was wondering why the video has over 2 minutes of silence, it was a trick used in earlier days of youtube to get better sound quality.

@@ILikeWafflz Not 100% on it cause it was so long ago at this point, but IIRC it was a way to get YT to "keep" the original upload quality, rather than automatically cut down the bitrate for faster play. Not a big deal for generic clips usually, but kind of a problem for things like music where sound is the focus. Basically, a longer duration file made it look more important to YT itself rather than some yutz uploading a ton of X minute long clips.

The entire song provokes a sensation similar to a 'Final Desperate Stand.' It's the final day, the clock is counting down the few precious minutes you have left, you either stand or fall with the land and Majora is waiting. It is waiting. For You.

Honestly Majora's Mask is one of my favourite games ever. I'm not sure why but there is just this feeling I get from the game that just fits with me as a a person, it might just be the erie darkness of the game...

I agree. it's not as plotcentric as ocarina of time, there's more of an emphasis on gameplay, but that's what I love about it. They let the gameplay do the talking, and it manages to convey just as much if not more character development than ocarina
@JaelinBezel
@JaelinBezel 8 жыл бұрын
+Ron Michaels No I don't think that's it... it just feels more... personal... more hopeless... In Ocarina of Time, the big villain at the end of the day was a man. A mortal man trying to take over a kingdom. In Majora's Mask, the big villain is a creepy, mysterious mask with untold power. A force of nature bent on destroying the world. In Ocarina of Time, you would speak to side characters and perform side quests solely for the reward you'd get for doing it. With Majora's Mask having more sidequests than dungeons and with the characters all different ways of responding to the inevitable, just makes it more personal to me.

Even though I know that the Oath to Order is a song used to summon the giants and get them to stop the moon from crashing into Termina as well as to stop the Skull Kid's madness and to restore *order* to the world, hence the name, I also see the song as a plea from the giants, in which they are begging the Skull Kid to stop. When I hear the song, I feel as if the giants would say to the Skull Kid "Stop! Just please stop! We are begging you to just stop! We know that this isn't who you are, and we know that this just isn't you! We are begging you to stop! Please!" The giants would actually be quite right in saying that the horrible things that the Skull Kid did wasn't who he was, because the Skull Kid wasn't actually doing any of those things himself and of his own free will; the power of the mask that he wore was making him do all of those things, so in a sense, it was the mask that was doing all of those horrible deeds throughout the game and not him.

Let the tune of truth ring through the land. Debt be paid, as thy man may dwell in peace once again. Shed no tears, only your husk of fear that has choked you for so long. Turn to your loved and let them love you. From the North, bring power of the heart. From the East, bring the wisdom of the mind. From the south, bring the strong will from your mind. From the West, bring the courage from the fear that once held you down. Embrace your family and let the light heal the wounds from death. The nightmare is over my child, fear no longer. Hold your beloveds close and bind them to your soul so they may never leave you again. Never be lonely... Flourish, love, and live. Live the life you have earned, may your life be long and prosperous. Never forget...

Oath to order (To me) is a song of acceptance. You have to go back in time to not die by the moon, but each of those times, you undid the deeds. Just because swamps are being poisoned and mountain life is being frozen to death, You have to stop the moon by accepting that you can't save those species, But who gave you the permission to do that? In a nutshell, This game represents accepting that You can't do certain things, You can't stop certain things, You can't really be Link in real life. I would listen to this if a Asteriod/Moon actually fell in my time. I would just ACCEPT it and move on..

When you said, " But it would make a good funeral dirge.", I saw lots of people say that. The way that Oath to Orders tune feels like.. Your journey is about to be over, And its so hard to ACCEPT that.. (Sorry for ending two comments the same way, but i guess i'm making points..)

+Teddy Zorro They did keep it. But they accelerated the slowed time. Ruined a few self-imposed challenge modes from the N64 version. Now I can't run the spider houses, the Goron race circuit, Romani Farm quests, the eggs, Kafei & Anju questline or the temple bosses through in the three day period as I'd done on the old version. A couple of times I think I managed to get all the fairies as well.

Looking at the official art again, I've noticed an anomaly that shows how different Majora's Mask is than all other Zelda games. Traditionally, the words "The Legend of Zelda" are written in a red cover on the title. Majora's Mask bucks this trend, and instead goes with purple to match the mask. It's a visual cue to show that this game will be very different from previous Zeldas. And it was, in a wonderful way.

This is the first video I've seen with a massive comment chain replying to another one that ISN'T some religious/CoD/some otherrandom hate war. Finally, some nice, respectable people on KZbin.

Dnd idea: I can just imagine this being played while talking to a paladin who left his church/temple after it became corrupt, and the corrupt temple sent you to go fight him. And him going on his long speech about why he left and why you're here now.

Long ago, in Termina, there lived a peaceful race of people. Among them were 4 guardians. The humans began worshipping these giants like gods, the goddesses grew upset. The giants were dispersed across Termina to be called by a song. The Skull Kid was friends with them. He believed they abandoned him, he became bitter. This begins, Majora's Mask.
