But it slowly shows that he actually does care about Zelda a lot and eventually stops comparing himself to link and actually helps in a way that he's good at. Now, if only more bullies could have a redemption arc like groose.

He's a doofus. Not an idiot. There's a big and important distinction that makes him so lovable. Especially when he decides to dedicate himself to defending the sealed temple. It shows that he has a huge heart and he is actually really cleaver and resourceful when he puts his mind to it. But he never stops being that doofus that we love to meme about.

I do like how this scene shows Groose to not _just_ be, you know, the stock jock bully character. Link reassuringly smiling and patting Groose's arm before explaining everything shows that they are after all class mates, with their "rivalry" being mostly one-sided. And Groose being emotionally relieved to know that Zelda is okay shows that he does appear to have genuine feelings for her.

I think that since we're all big kids now, Legend of Zelda doesn't need voice actors to say every word in the text. I, personally, find screams emphasize how the character is feeling, rather than have them be mute and "look" like they're screaming.
