Stephen Curry only made 6 shots in Game 2 of the 2019 NBA Finals vs. the Toronto Raptors. He only tallied 4 assists. But he applied huge amounts of pressure to the Raptors defense. This detailed film breakdown analyzes all of the different ways he created shots for teammates -- off the dribble, off-ball gravity, with his movement and as a screener.

@@Oppenheimer1967 he is shooting 40% well getting constantly double team and even being force to go up against a box and 1. This final series is the perfect example of what this video is about. In the rocket series he was performing badly, but he still help his team beat them in game 6. To continue on what about his performance against the trail blazers in which he average over 30 ppg.

But if you watch how GSW, you will not look for the ball, instead will look on how Curry maneuvers all those screens, relocating and circling defenses on their feet. Exquisite shooters require more attention, and sometimes double teams on weak side switches. Durant, Korver, (a few years younger verison,) Klay, and Thompson are players who shoot amazing, but force the defense to suck in and pay attention by how they run around and cause disruption. Reddick also comes to mind. Curry sets many screens, sacrifices his body to draw charges, excellent ball handling probably one of the best. And hes the deadliest sniper of all time. Curry has changed how we see the game, and the crazy thing is Steph is content with being 2nd best player to KD. We have seen how far the Golden State Warriors can go, when hes clicking on all optimal levels. But hes a team player, rarely causes chemistry issues, and has been okay with being 2nd fiddle after being 1st. We forget basketball is a team sport, what else could you realistically say? The splash brothers have cultivated a culture and modernized the NBA landscape. But Curry is the catalyst for it all.

I still remember game 1 of the 2017 Finals when the Cavs saw Kevin Durant with the ball in transition at half court, and both defenders cleared out of his way to guard Curry at the wing. They thought that, all things considered, they liked their chances of KD missing an uncontested dunk more than Curry missing a 3-point shot with only 1 defender on him. Seriously, that's some Barry Bonds level shit. Even in this age of analytics, people are so afraid of Curry that they forget that his expected production on such a 3 is only something like 1.4 points per shot, whereas KD on a totally uncontested dunk is something like 1.98 points per shot. That's how scary Curry is.

That's what make Steph such a special player, dangerous with the ball and without the ball. The small little things he did helping the warriors winning the game. I'm not surprised because in Warriors there are many players with such traits like Draymond and Klay. They are so ridiculously too team oriented and not selfish. Leaving behind personal accolade for the sake of winning game and championships. Willing to have pay cut just to ensure they get Durant. That's why The Warriors managed to assemble this Dynasty, simply superior team culture.

What truly makes him great is his understanding of his effect on the defense, and his willingness to be a decoy to set up his teammates. Yes, he can't physically dominate like a bigger player, but his impact makes up for it (his teammates have to hit shots)

I love the way how he introduce 3 points which is now being practice by almost every NBA players. This is one way of having less contact with the opponent. I love his unselfish ways. @@goodman5836 h That's because He's one of the greatest scorers in league history. And it's because of dedication and skill, but it also has a large part to do with his height and versatility. Durant rarely has ever gotten doubled because he can easily pass the ball out. But with curry it's extremely difficult because of his small statue. If you switch Curry's body and height with Durant's, Curry gets a lot more better, and Durant gets a lot worse he wouldn't even be as good as Curry.

@@goodman5836 yep and had no impact, I mean he averaged 30 a game but didn't affect a single game after game one. I'd argue that Westbrook's had more impact and was tougher than kd. Kd is a better player individually than curry but doesn't have the same impact that steph has. And because kd has played with curry he has gotten better. Remember the wcf in 2016. That's the kd you all say is so much better than curry but he couldn't carry his team to the finals with a 3 to 1 lead. This is steph's team and kd has found his place to be successful because of how steph had acclimated to kds tendencies and needs. Also kd was averaging almost 34 plus and they were in danger of going down 3 to 2 vs the rockets who could of sent them home with game six in Houston. Kd since college has never had the impact curry has had and even on this team still doesn't compare in that regard.

the problem with the raptors defense in game 2 is that their pack line defense got cracked, no wonder why cousins played a major role in the game ill explain this later, you see...curry already has gravity, it is not "undetected" but on the contrary is pretty notable to keep your eyes on him since he is a lethal shooter from the perimeter. the problem with the raptors pack line defense is that it leaves a weak side in the corners, and possibly the wings depending on how the pack it leans towards certain wing, if the pack leans to the right wing automatically that leaves the window open for a cut on the weak side, the solution for the gsw is that curry and klay move as much as possible to disrupt the defense and there are some instances were raptors move onto a triangle defense guarding klay and curry and if the spacing is wrong it leaves the paint wide open for another player to make the cut to the basket, i think curry did 2 of his screens this way in the game...now the problem with cousins is that he also has some gravity in him, right now he looks as an underdog due to his injuries but his playstyle is pretty aggresive, they were times were he pushed the ball and due to not getting him checked allows him to playmake, this gravity forces gasol to go and defend him instead of being in the paint, the other problem with him is that he has a good perimeter shooting thats why we see the box more spread open and of course he fought for those 50/50 balls and got 10 rebounds (rebounding that they lacked in game 1) , the problem with this defense setup is curry...he cracks the box and leaves the weak side either the corners, the wings or both open for a perimeter shot, and depending where the box is, either it opens either the whole restricted area or the top of the key for a wide open shot.

(This one is actually gonna be really interesting and I honestly don’t wanna see KD come back because it’s so much better basketball to watch when he’s out more competitive and even basketball 🤷‍♂️) Nice vid keep it up your going places 4 sure

People think of him as a one trick guy But ironically he has the most options on court. Like he said he can set screens, run pick and roll, make a cut, reject the screen and shoot, creat iso shots, OR start running around which will open up all of the above in multiple locations. in all the scenerio the margin of error in defence is so low because he is the best shooter. That's why he needs more attention than anybody off ball. Cause he'll convert loose defense into a high percentage shot

Curry is getting hacked on-ball and off-ball all the game while getting no calls for him. That is until he pumpfakes and jumps into an incoming defender. It is often what I experience when a ref who lacks experience starts reffing a game. Players abuse their reaching in, and I end up frustrated for being hit all over the arms during dribbling and being forcebly blocked from moving with the ball. I give credit to Curry for playing through that every single game. If I had a better angle at that play I could then see how Siakam and Van Vleet are reaching for the ball and if they made contact, but the NBA's last 2 minute report only states a correct no call during the pass. Not before, which would be the problematic moment.

If you loose your attention to him, he might kill you with 50 points since his playoff records was 30 point in average, that was with him being doubled every time he go in a offence move, with or without the ball.
