The Lego Ninjago Movie is not that bad.. the movie itself are pretty good and have a nice sense of humor (for me at least, or maybe I have a real bad sense of humor) and the ending is very heartwarming. The animation, the character design, it's also really nice. I don't think it's that bad, it's just that the whole stories changed and their personalities changes too? I rewatched The Lego Movie just to watch Lloyd in the background lmao

EXACTLY!!!! i think it may have done better as a standalone, but since it was based on the show, it was a flop. the character designs were nice, but the original designs are iconic and cant really be replaced (kai's hair specifically.) the movie failed to explain anything about spinjitzu or explore the lore any further. it was honestly more of a ninjago remake, when people were expecting an extension. it was funny fs, and like i said, is a good standalone, but it did not come anywhere near meeting the expectations of the fans, myself included. once i started seeing it as a loose remake instead of an extension, i started to like it more.

As a kid I thought this was an actual trailer for a Lego Ninjago movie and I got so excited! As a kid (and still to this day) I was a massive fan of the TV series and the Lego sets and seeing Lloyd in the LEGO MOVIE made me so excited for the possibility of a LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE! Then I saw it for my birthday in 2017 and now I look back on this short and laugh at how accurately it predicted the movie would be received. I've warmed up to the movie over time but looking at the TV show and comparing it to the movie, theirs a definite difference in quality of storytelling, characters, and humor between the two. The movie does have better animation I'll give it that, but then again that's to be expected.
