Did your M8 return yet? I have one with a failed shutter. I need to open it up and try and repair it.

Unfortunately it is still at Wetzlar and haven't heard about it yet. I should ask their customer service regarding status.

Hi there, Also there is a shutter issue that comes using the 8000 s speed, so try not to use it much (reason they did the M8.2). I would recomand to purchase used Leica camera in a Leica Store. First because they inspect the cameras, know their flaws, then because you’ll get a warranty in case something gets wrong during the few first month. You are lucky Leica still repair that M8 issue unlike the corroded sensor of the M9. Sheers.

Yes I read a lot about the shutter issue on the M8 and realised they dropped that for the M8.2. And you are right about the Leica Classic store. I always window shop on that site regularly :) Thank you very much for your time watching!

You just have to embrace it's sensor flaw to be able to enjoy it I think. Treat it like a film cam. If the lines are not as severe as Marcus Lloyd mentioned in his comparison video, then it's not worth repairing imo since you are not gonna crop with 10mp. Save the money for it's bigger shutter issue tho.

You would be right about the bigger shutter regarding the money, but fortunately I'm happy and the seller of my M8 said he will pay for the cost of the repair. Thanks for watching!

Sorry to hear that, but if you take care of this camera it will produce the most amazing images. My shutter count is over 18,000 and it’s still going strong. Looking forward to seeing your shots once you get the camera back.

“Still going strong” after only 18,000 shutter clicks. I should bloody hope so, given the original price of this camera on launch. Come back if the camera has reached 250,000 shutter clicks and “still going strong”. 😊

Yes there is, just have to know that going into it.

They will repair it and send back within three month and in my case it was about 250 € and was done perfect!
