I work for a small wISP in Ventura county and there are still areas that no cellular service reaches and dsl barely supports 6 down and 1 up, and we have to spend lots to get our wireless internet into those areas. Trying to get access to funds is extremely cost prohibitive as a small company.

It's important to note on the social media ruling, that the Supreme Court did not rule on the merits, only that Missouri etc. did not have standing. There are lot's of reasons that could have happened, but importantly if someone who has been harmed by these policies brings a case, the future ruling will likely be on the merits.

Its still a problem for free speech. Who decides what is fake news ? Looking for more proof about the bias of social media companies, really what we need is something like the FCC net neutrality laws for social media companies, they should not be a police patrol for speech as they act like they are the government.

Teams, a crap product that you can replace with many other products that support meetings. Multiple choices. I think a lot of what MS does is criminal or at least questionable to user rights. Teams with Office is an odd tipping point.

@12:00 I bought a big UPS from Costco that takes care of my NAS, modem, router, and wifi. It can last for 12 hours or longer if I turn the NAS off. I had to do that because I don't have cell service (thanks mountains) but can use wifi calling, even with the power out.

The part of Germany trying to not use Microsoft products is more of a pollical thing than a tech thing. The software is there and they already have trained their people on both the windows version and the linux version. It is the politicians who decide which OS the country's government will use. Each time they go from windows to linux and linux to windows it costs a lot of money to do so with all new licenses from Microsoft. So I am sure the country is not happy at them changing and wasting tax money being indecisive though the security risk of windows recall is enough to get them to stay on a non-windows platform and not return.

Even here you'll see messages that run afoul of the censors get fully deleted immediately. I had it happen to me when someone asked for examples of scientific papers/research being suppressed. I avoided well known contentious topics (picked a mathematics paper) and provided no links and it was still deleted immediately. I noticed that I had a small typo and tried to correct it a few seconds after it was submitted but it was already deleted. A second try with all potential triggering words was also deleted and then a final message just saying that I tried to respond but couldn't was shadow banned.

Toxic hypergolic fuels are still used in US spacecraft, though just for the smaller thrusters on upper stages. The difference is that the Chinese rockets use them in large booster rockets that overfly populated areas and they don't seem to care where the contaminated booster falls even on nominal flights

The FCC forcing carriers to unlock all phones after 60 days will not "benefit the consumers" and it's actually shocking how little people can see the oblivious. People are willing to keep phones locked in exchange for absurdly discounted prices that are subsidized through 1-2 years of mobile service payments or in some cases these phones are locked as a necessity since the buyer/consumer is doing a payment plan in order to get a more expensive phone than they can afford to buy outright. If you remove the ability of carriers to lock the phones then they will just stop offering this service as it becomes an easy way for them to lose money via theft of people intentionally exploiting a loophole to run off with a $1500 iPhone max early. No one is forcing you to do a payment plan or buy a metroPCS locked phone for $50. These are options for low income people to be able to own the latest tech. Removing this option is in no way just objectively better for consumers.

You still signed a contract to pay the amount of the device over N months, if you don't you'll get your credit hit when the debt is sent to collections and the carrier can likely still blacklist the imei and can deny you service in future, and even if this somehow destroyed the 0% financing model the model would simply be replaced with something else, maybe people would stop financing phones they otherwise couldn't afford? Tho I imagine they'll likely just be stricter with who they provide this financing to which will probably be a net positive.

But realize that the supreme court holds that power now and that the supreme court justices are being given RVs, expensive trips and having their families houses paid for by big lobbyists. You should be concerned about the supreme court letting big companies pollute the air and water. And given the supreme courts decision its unlikely the FCC will be able make and enforce the first link that they talked about in this video.
