Probably the operational costs relating to cash such as employees stealing cash, sorting the cash, fake bills etc. has an over emphasized impact on the psyche of the business. Like how Americans are always worried about crime. Even if it doesn't make sense, they still want to take action against it, even if it costs them
@adhillA973 ай бұрын
If you stop accepting cash entirely it actually saves you money because you can't have cash stolen, so you don't have to pay cash handling insurance. It can end up being much cheaper than all but the priciest of card fees. It's also much faster on average because you don't have to count change, so you don't need to pay as many staff.

There was once a time that I wouldn't have bought anything but an HP printer. I've refused to buy another HP printer since Windows Vista first came out as the printer that I had bought only one year earlier HP refused to provide updated drivers for Vista. And they seem intent on digging their own grave even deeper.
@remyllebeau773 ай бұрын
I've heard good things about Brother printers.
@krisspkriss3 ай бұрын
For some reason, the printer industry is like a test bed of what is to come in consumer electronics. From artificial obsolescence to rent taking on the device you outright bought to product tying. Last I heard they began locking you out of printer ink cartridges after a month or so of usage regardless of ink level. In any case, Vista required 64 drivers and the peripheral device makers en mass decided they were not making 64 bit drivers for their older products and hope Micro Soft gets the blackeye not allowing 32 bit legacy drivers. Out of all the BS that HP has pulled, not remaking all of their legacy drivers was probably the most excusable. Its still their fault and not MS though. Had MS not drawn a hard line and made their stand, then we would still have peripheral device makers spitting out 32 bit drivers. I am not saying that would be a vastly different world with printers still running on dot matrix printheads and thermal paper. I am saying Windows would be less secure, buggier and kludgier if we still had a bunch of 16 and 32 bit drivers.
@robjbowen3 ай бұрын
@@krisspkriss I think had more to do with all of the other junk add ons that installed with the actual driver that they were adding. Recompiling the core driver for 64 bit should have been pretty simple. Even if they were using relative bit addressing, they could still use the 32 bit register names at a small performance cost. Microsofts hardening at that time was sorely needed as many device drivers were an easy attack vector due to some very poorly written drivers. In addition Vista itself came as 32 or 64 bit. I don't remember, but I think Windows 7 was also available for 32 bit as well. At that time, I believe I was still using a 32 bit processor. Microsoft eventually released their own generic drivers that kept a lot of HP printers alive without having to use the WinXP vm whereas HP just seemed to abandoned their customers. I switched to a Canon color laser and other than about a month delay for Windows 8 drivers for it, it has been rock solid. Since I have recently switched to mac, I am debating updating to a new printer as scanning software that Canon provides does not run on the M1 (might on intel - don't know). So the scanning functionality in preview kind of sucks and you don't get very good scans, but at least it still works. I can't even remember what year I bought it and its still going.

I just got scammed trying to sell a PC on a local Classifieds, banks says I am on the hook for the counterfeit cheque. I live on less than $1000 CAD a month, now my account is at -$1500, and gaining interest, non-sufficient fund fees, even though in 30 years of having the bank account I have never once gone in the red or cashed a fake cheque. This account is connected to everything, so now any cent that goes into the account goes to paying off money that doesn't exist...
@jackielinde75683 ай бұрын
Yeah, paying with a fake check scam is older than most online scams. Please tell me you didn't "give them the difference in cash." and you only lost the PC. Things to remember: 1. Tell whomever you're selling stuff to that if they pay in Checks, you're holding the item until the check clears. Otherwise, stick to payment services you know you get the cash up front. 2. NEVER accept an offer where they "accidentally" give you a check for more than what your asking plus shipping. The scam is they ask you to send them the difference knowing your bank will front you part or all of the money on the check before it fails to clear. 3. Do not touch the money until after the check clears. This way, if it's a bad check, you're only out the processing fees (and yes, they're going to hit you with fees.) and not the fees plus any money you withdrew. 4. You can verify if a check is good in most instances. Your bank should be able to give you a yes/no if the bank and/or account are real. And a lot of banks have numbers you can call and verify checks for accounts they manage. Just make sure you look up the number on the web and not use the number off the check. 5. Avoid accepting checks from banks that are not in your country or a country you trust. A lot of criminals running these scams are based in African countries and will often use their local banks to make their fake checks look real. 6. Unless you have an established business and willing to take the risk on international orders, refuse to sell out of your country. This isn't 100 percent foolproof, but it will cut down your risk for getting scammed. A lot of the international scammers do have local teams who will pick up (steal) the items for sale, and they may start using checks from their local banks to make their fake checks look real.

Qualcomm has a general license to use ARM designs then bought another company that had a license to use ARM server designs Qualcomm went on to use ARM in the CPU + GPU + NPU chip. Now ARM is sueing them for breach of contract so most likely Qualcomm used a server ARM chip design part in a consumer ARM chip even though that should be under the general license to use ARM designs.
