LG has consistently made competitive phones for years that arguably were and are better than competing phones. There are features that people use today that were first implemented on LG's G and V series phones to great effect, but they didn't get as much attention compared to Samsung and Apple. LG is putting plenty of effort and time into their phones, but their marketing for their phones hasn't been as strong. Further, the way reviewers review phones these days shows heavy bias to the point one would think Samsung literally pays people to review their phones. So many big time tech/phone channels literally skipped the G8 and V50 last year. It was so bad that those who actually did review the V50 in particular, called it a monster sleeper phone and had nothing but praise. Others were also unduly unfair to the G8, despite the fact it had the same specs and comparable features to the S10 line. TL;DR: LG is a true underdog and makes great phones that people dismiss because they're not Samsung.

This video was overall good, but I couldn't help but see that the LG V60 is still seen in obscurity, the title of the video speaks loud to me, instead of "S20 Alternative" in the title, why can't it just be "great all rounder at a good price"?? Why must Samsung be the forefront of every Non-Samsung product overview???? When doing this, it gives the audience the impression that this is a "versus" rather than a "Review", and instead of the LG V60 being in the spotlight, it has to be shared with Samsung, this confuses the viewers and instead of showing interest in the product at hand, they show interest in it's competitor, especially when you say something along the lines of "it's not better than the S20 Ultra.", it's not about the S20 Ultra, this is about the "LG V60 ThinQ 5G" yep, that LG device with 4 syllables in it's name compared to the "Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G" that has 7 syllables, but LG comes around and it's controversial. For future reference, what I want you Reviewers to do when assessing the non-popular Brands, is to focus on the device solely, and keep Samsung and Apple out of it, and if you do want to compare, do a "versus" video, that way your content isn't fragmented and every brand gets their fair share of assessment.

I really hope that reviewers evaluate the features against what they are actually used for and not just default to oh 1080p is smaller than 2k or 60hz is smaller than 120hz so it must be bad and definitely a downgrade or yeah big battery so long hours of use. Even i can do those comparisons without having a review device. There is a reason why some companies like Lg for example went this route instead of doing the higher resolution higher refresh rate thing, in this case because of the dual screen. Was it worth going down to 1080p from 2k from the v50, did it improve the performance or the usability of the dual screen or was maybe no difference. And sadly the video ended with no review of the dual screen. Just basically shrugged it off. How are we supposed to know what the dual screen is like. If you think it is not great or bad then show us why.

@@christopherpape4823 I'm guessing it's to hit that cheaper price point. Lots of people are tired of paying $1000+ for a phone. Also to extend the battery life. I had a OnePlus 7 Pro with 1440p 90Hz screen before and I'm using the LG V60 now and wouldn't go back. The battery life is so so so much better. I use to have to charge my OnePlus 7 Pro halfway through the day where with my V60 I can make it almost 2 days now. A phone is useless if the battery is dead.

Just a correction: the LG V60 has the same (or better) telephoto as the S20 and S20 Plus. Read the specs of the S20/Plus - They both don't really have telephoto lens. They just use the 64MP sensor for cropping, that's all. That's basically what LG is doing, but LG paired the 64MP sensor with better hardware.

The s20 isn't standout at all... most of the features are really useless... only great thing is the 120hz refresh rate but because of that they bump the price to $1400. That's the Ultra. 2- they changed more than 3 things on S20, compared to S10: front camera hole moved to center, and reduced in size. Bezels reduced in sized, screen flattened to appear less curvier. Also, the battery increased to 4,000mAh. Oh yeah, 5g support. The 5g is the main reason the S20s are so expensive

@@MrModikoe So I came from the oneplus X to the LG G7 and the first thing that i noticed is the haptics and manual controls in the cam, build is so good, dropped it 9 times, just a small crack on the back, amazing speakers, the boombox is insane, and double tap wake is useful just like in the oneplus and I really have no problem with the software, and speak of cartoonish maybe a little but not as much as a samsung, I like samsung for its curved screen though.

I had this phone for a day, and you mentioned EVERY quirk i didn't like about it. The 60Hz screen, the antiquated app drawer with it's lack of auto-sorting and only left-right app list, the loss of gesture controls with switching launcher (although that's not LG's fault). I ended up returning this in favor or my Pixel 4 XL, and am waiting for the OnePlus 8 Pro. GREAT quick review!

You have to make trade off: Lower refresh rate = better battery life to support 5G (consume more energy) Less camera = cheaper phone that includes a dual display (better productivity) More weight = better battery life to support a powerfull chip, dual display and 5G. I had a V30 for a couple if years, then last week I upgraded to the V60. I lasted 2 days with it. Frikin phone was too big.. it’s a great phone, with a beautiful screen and great DAC, but something just snapped in me. It’s so big my hands would cramp after a lot of web surfing. Agreed, and it's actually an improvement. I get AMAZING macro shots using the main sensor on my V60, that destroy the telephoto lens on my past V40, etc.

Dude LG has a specific home touch button to pull down notification instead of gesture. This makes it clear all you have done is scroll through the wallpaper and apps and call it a day. this phone has 4 fucking microphones and you didn't even bother to mention it. what a review

So no 120hz gimmick, not a big deal at all. 90 + percent of all phone buyers can not tell the difference unless they were told about it and and were asked to look for it. Even a nerd like yours truly forgets about it while using devices with 120hz and then when moving to 60hz displays. High refresh is only truly noticeable if are gaming on PC and especially when using a mouse. In such circumstance, every FPS counts!

My Rog 2 gives me 10 to 12 hours screen on time at 60hz!.. I don't think Lg can do that.

The stock LG launcher software is definitely great, but at this point Who doesn't install a 3rd party launcher on there Android phones anyway. That's one of the best features of Android, being able to customize it to your liking. And I've had Samsung phones and didn't love there launcher either, Just throw Nova or Action launcher on and make it your own!

? I got the G8x with dual screen as an upgrade from my V30 do you think it's worth switching to the V60 I agree the software is Ruff but I modifie my phones anyway so it's not a big problem for me but I have found a lot of improvement in my productivity with the dual displays. thanks!

it is better but i'd stay with the g8x for now. it's not that old... not tha big of a difference. Seeing how they updated the velvet look...I assume they got a few things under their belt for the v70 or whatever they will call it. i am hoping the the dual screen hinge to shrink a lot like the microsoft dual screen phone instead of a huge gap we have now.

If LG would take care of security updates, it could be a possible choice. My G6 has patchlevel may 2019. That's not acceptable for me so that was my last LG phone. My Samsung S8 received the April-Fix today.
