Thank you so much for your channel and putting yourself out there. I love this chapter. That last sentence in verse 29 helped me get out into the mission field after I got my call years ago. Yes I’m the Elder’s quorum President in our little ward. We have some great saints out here with beautiful testimonies. We’re out here in Ohio about an hour from Kirtland

One important thing to keep in mind is that Lehis family grew up in Jerusalem which was not only apostate at this time, but according to the laws of Moses, Lehi and Nephi were guilty of crimes punishable by death. Their new teachings about god were considered heresy. This is why they keep trying to kill Nephi. By the way, I just received my first calling. I’m a new young men’s advisor. I was just sustained yesterday at church. I’m excited!!

Wonderful video, Victor! I really enjoy it when you give your thoughts and interpretations along with reading. That really adds to the presentation 😊 Don't you admire Nephi for not getting a big ego? He was receiving all those visions and visitations from angels, and yet he still deferred to the priesthood leader--his father. 😊 Aren't you dying of curiosity about what in the world was written on the liahona that made Lehi tremble so?! I know that I am!! Isn't it amazing that Zoram gives his word and they can trust it 100%? I sure can't see that in our day with many people at all! I've heard scholars estimate that the route they think they took could have reasonably been covered in 6 months. Yet, they wandered for 8 years. Probably owing to the liahona working only sporadically because of their struggles with faith. There's quite a lesson in that for us. 😊 Get well soon, Victor. I hope your illness is of short duration ❤

@@gwengold8154 great comments. I didn’t know that scholars figured their route to be about 6 months. I’d imagine the liahona most likely revealed to Lehi that the spirit of god had withdrawn from him, just like how we feel it withdraw from us when we sin, or when we doubt during times of struggle, we all of a sudden feel the whole weight of our situation on our shoulders. I could be wrong though

@nashmcintosh2578 it could have been that, but I just feel a renewed determination to be more strictly obedient when I feel the withdrawal of the Holy Spirit. I think it'd be something really scary to make Lehi tremble exceedingly like that 😳
