Hi Guys, First of all, I have to say Eon Podcast has been one of the best podcast that has come out of Pakistan in recent times and one of the few that has not just grown rapidly in terms of viewership but has actually maintained the quality of discourse in Pakistan. I generally tend not to comment online but since I know you guys spoke about me/TBT in the starting bit, I thought I'd just put the record straight. Before I get into it, I want to say that this comment is not coming from a point of negativity because I know you didn't have any negative intention when you said what you said and the only reason I am writing this comment is because I believe it's better to share insight to improve the quality of discourse. None of the people from the audience connected the channel with the mention also so I'm literally taking an urta teer just for this lol. Anyways, as far as paid podcasts are concerned, almost every major podcast including TBT takes them. However, the process is very important. We don't take everyone who offers money and we don't take money from everyone. We only take money from large corporates who have a marketing budget. This, we realized, was a good way to sustain the costs of the platform. Normally if there are 24-36 podcasts coming in a quarter, there are 2-3 paid conversations in there. Enough to sustain our operations. The advertising team is told in the very start that the payment is for the slot/queue and not for the conversation. We follow our formatting and have editorial independence. The sponsor doesn't impact our editorial work and if (and yes there are definitely people who try to strong arm us into just turning the podcast into an ad), we refuse to partner with them and move on. Generally, none of the major players who are currently charging for queues AFAIK are doing scripted podcasts. Is monetization necessary? Absolutely, you can't sustain cost of equipment, cost of salaries, cost of utilities etc without monetizing. For full transparency, it cost us PKR 400,000 per month(overtime this cost has increased due to inflation) from September 2020 when we started and we hadn't made a single rupee from the podcast up until 2022. That means an investment of over 10 million PKR before we were able to generate any money. This is just the hard investment of cash. When you add the investment of time, that becomes even more. Is there a better way to monetize? I definitely believe so. However, for those of us who had to do this day in day out for 3 years before it became a 'thing' in Pakistan, unfortunately, there weren't a lot of avenues and when we went to businesses and brands, the only thing they were interested in was getting their businesses on the show and eventually we had to create a middle ground where we could say that we'll give you the queue but we'll keep the editorial policy and still be able to generate revenue. I'm happy to hear that you're hoping to push brands in running ads. I saw Junaid Akram do that recently and I hope that becomes mainstream so we can just rely on that as it is much more sustainable, more lucrative and we don't have to constantly worry about whether the guest in the partnered podcast will be interesting or not. (Side note: Most paid podcasts perform well because brands generally have PR teams pushing that content. I don't think I've ever done any paid podcast that has gotten bad views simply because even if the conversation is boring, brands have tools to push the podcast to the relevant audiences) Having said that, the other thing that you guys mentioned was that random CEOs of companies or startups coming on the show are all paid/sponsored. That is absolutely not true. For us, if you go back to the first season, we have been bringing startups and CEOs from the very start. Unfortunately, in Pakistan, people like to talk about politics / history / controversial humanities related topics and that's okay. In my opinion, Pakistan's number 1 problem today is economy and the best people to speak about that problem are people who are part of businesses/startups/companies who have their hands dirty and are on the ground losing/making money. Unfortunately, we want a random politician to explain economics to us but wouldn't listen to a billion dollar company CEO when it comes to Pakistan but will use quotes from Elon Musk and Bill Gates to define our life and our hustle culture. I find that rather odd and counter productive. I started the platform in 2020 to change that and when I would bring such people in the start, we would get 100,000 views on a famous teenage KZbinr but only 200 views on the startup/company CEO conversation but didn't stop me from bringing more of them. After 3 years of hard work, we have been able to bring that viewership from 200 to 10-15000. I get why you guys think that all of these conversations must be paid because who in their right mind would actually intentionally choose people who get low views again and again instead of milking interesting topics that help you become famous quickly. Therein lies the difference. For the random viewer, the views dropped from hundreds of thousands to 10,000 while for me the views increased from 200 to 10,000 and that's what gives me a lot of hope and motivation. That, along with the fact that Pakistan is going through a turbulent time right now and therefore nobody cares about serious conversations around business but the economy goes in cycles and this cycle will change and the same people who are interested in politics will eventually come back to watching company CEOs and startups and when that happens, there has to a platform that exists to cater to that demand and we hope that will be us. It's really about the perspective. Again, I don't blame you for assuming that all startup/corporate conversations are paid but I would also ask you to open your mind to the possibility that there is someone out there who might be stupid enough to actually play the long game and is archiving these conversations for a time when people are suddenly interested in hearing more of this. Remember, the all time great Joe Rogan also took 13 years before he became world famous. Not everyone is interested in becoming a viral hit or maxing out their viewership (not to say I don't like views, I love views but I don't base my entire strategy around it). Anyways, once again, let me repeat. This comment is not coming from a place of negativity ya ye koi online phadda nai ho raha. I just thought I'd share insight on how things are on our side! Keep up the good work and love the authenticity you guys have on the show combined with the insight and values that you hold close. It is very apparent and very few people out there are working the way you guys are and it's absolutely phenomenal.

Best episode so far! And if you want to be the top Pakistani podcast, then please do more episodes like this with your core team, instead of having a special guest. Build your podcast along your team where conversations flow and the viewer gets the feel that they are hanging out with a bunch of homies... This would attract people who would want to be part of your podcast and even pay Eon to be on the podcast and hang out with you. Regarding getting sponsors; you should get those and declare openly at the start of the episode that today's podcast is sponsored by so and so. Congrats on the 200 K button, I am rooting for you to have 2 million subscribers by the end of 2024 🤗 keep on rocking with this kind of content and stay blessed. Peace out✌

It’s funny that a bunch of privileged Punjabi elite boys, who btw earn their living from real estate, criticize Hoodbhoy (a Physicist from MIT), Ali Mirza, and Muzammil. Although I don't agree with the ideas of Hoodbhoy and Muzammil on religion, I respect their courage to think rationally and speak their minds despite the backlash. Your romanticism of Mr. Adeem, who talks about the amalgam of religion and physics (who btw is neither a religious scholar nor a physicist), and Imran Khan says a lot about the superficial knowledge and your fascination with religion, politics, and philosophy.
@hassan1764811 ай бұрын
And your criticism also reflects dumbness and irrational side of you by saying things like "bunch of Punjabi elite earning through real estate" what is wrong in this if someone is earning through real estate they got a earn to live and feed family. Then saying "hoodboy and muzammil speaks mind" yeah they are doing that in public so they will get a counter arguments( people Will agree and disagree with them) that's what they(eon podcast) are doing and that's how society progress by filtering ideas, philosophy etc. then you saying "Sahil is neither scholar or scientist" and that's why he shouldn't be presenting his point of view is also wrong Elon musk was neither an engineer by profession nor hold any degree but he was the chief engineer of SpaceX. You should come out of this thinking or matrix that you can only speak when you have a degree from some institution, if someone is talking logic listens to it and take it, apart from degrading it by presenting illogical reasons like there has to be some prerequisite one should fulfil to talk logical.

If the paid content is legit or they're up for being cross questioned i dont see why you can't do it here and there. And about the ads thing it's fine, nothing new. But as compensation for all this, just add Aman to all your interviews. While he interrupts like he's the one that's been invited, its still more informative and fun when he's there.

Waisaye discussing about freelancing as an unfair practice in a country like Pakistan where people are paid below fair wage is pretty bold of these people. Even today interns are not paid, cashier are hired in the bracket of 15-20k a month which includes everything, an experienced accountant is hired at 40 - 50 k max irrespective of skills unless certified. I will simply say stop miss quoting Islamic teaching and comparing drinking and gambling with freelancing. People who cant earn a single dollar will always support you. Those who have shitty skill set and have zero global value will always appreciate (T.C). Again stop miss quoting Islamic teaching and Quranic verses.

U r decent boys. Do not use slang words. Most of your viewers are educated. They watch your contents to gain knowledge.
