Liberalism used in this video is not what modern American Democrats think of as liberalism. "Classical Liberalism" is what should be used here.

No, Liberalism is Liberalism, if the American Democrats aren't "classical liberal" then they are not liberal. In fact from what I see they're more Authoritarian/corporatists pretending to be Liberals by using Liberal names and terms.

Modern american "liberals" are not liberals. They're mostly social-democrats or fabian socialists: that is, not against the existence of a market but in favor of high taxation and governmental intervention both in the economy and in people's lives through social programs. Calling social democrats "liberals" is a thing that really only happened in the US

Von Mises was a Libertarian. Liberalism is used as in Fiscal Liberal in contrast to Fiscal Conservative. Von Mises was a Fiscal Conservative.

I disagree with how Tucker phrased the rise of liberalism in regards to religion. I think it’s more fair to say that societies resorted to less coercive measures to convert people rather than saying that “believe whatever you want, that’s fine as long as you’re not interfering with others.” Fortunately, I think Hoppe’s ideas have created a resolution to issues like this, though the question of evangelization is still an important one. If a voluntary society outlawed evangelization, Christians may very well have a moral obligation to break that law-regardless of whether it was voluntarily agreed to or not.

I would similarly critique what Tucker said about “marrying who you want.” To me, it sounds like Tucker is thinking of an ethical liberalism instead of a political one. The difference between the two concepts being that the first posits all non-coercive actions as morally equal (e.g. marrying the same gender vs a different gender) and the second merely opposes using state coercion to force people to believe and act a certain way.

And Marx warned about the tiranny of capitalists in the industrial revolution, which took many movements to fight against in non-communist societies.

@@guillee12 And remind how capitalists have any incentive wealth fairly. Its seems that you can flail any assertion about left wing politics without backing it up and somehow people will think that is in any way a fair or educated assessment.

@@danielraftery3688 I have read left wing principles (delivering in politics), in what they believe and the base of all their ideology, have you? I don't respald my affirmations because i think in this conversation is a waste of time, considering other people better than me already refuted all their bases long time ago, but empirical analysis of reality gives the back to the left, so because of that analysis it is proved left delivers to misery and authoritrism by the monopoly of the violence used by the state, and as i told you, incredible people showed it long time ago. Also condider that all this progresism, politically correction and censorship is due to the cultural marxism, coming from the left...

@@guillee12 Those sure was a lot of words to say "No, I have read nothing of left wing politics, and recieve my impressions from people who tell me leftism is bad because government, and stalin". Its interesting how you had no problem jumping into reply to my original comment and back off when pressed from where the info youre claiming comes from. To your point about the "State"s" monopoly of violence, that exists in ALL capitalist countries. After all, who grants private property rights to capitalists? As to your point about "cultural Marxism", thats honestly a weak argument because its unverifiable. How do you distinguish the power of Marxist ideology in a largely capitalist world?
