to jordan specifically I just wanted to say thank you! I was caring for my aunt who had alzheimer's around the same time jordan was taking care of his mum. I didn't know anyone else around my age who was caring for their loved one and dealing with their own mental health going to sh*t. my aunt passed away this week and a lot of why I was at peace with everything was because I didn't feel as alone in the process. even though you guys don't directly communicate with your fans pls know how much sharing parts of your life with all of us helps us get out of our own head during natural, not so great phases of life. i'm so sorry you had to experience that at all but selfishly, thank you for being some sort of comfort. I hope 2025 brings you both nothing but peace and opportunity! (we are off to a bad start but hey there's still time😅)

What really made me nauseous were the amount of perfectly polished GRWM style reels that popped up of PEOPLE PACKING TO EVACUATE THE "GO" ZONES ON THAT DAY. Like, how content-brained do you have to be to get the evacuation notice and think "oooo this would make a good video!" and then plan it, set up the shots, film the shots, put it together, etc?? It's one thing to post the quick last look video you took right before leaving and simply be like "this is how it was" but these were too much. That video you showed brought back all the same ick feelings as those GRWM evacuation reels. Even though I wasn't in a warning or order zone, I was too busy scrambling to get my dog's to-go bag, my to-go bags, food, water, my instruments, pack the car, planning what routes to take, figuring out where I'd be staying, etc. to even FATHOM putting energy into making a video of it all. Luckily my area didn't end up with fire damage, but many people had their homes and cars severely damaged by massive trees that were blown over in the wind. Plus we didn't have Spectrum Tues night-Sunday afternoon because a tree blew over and cut the power lines that led to Spectrum's equipment....we were INSANELY LUCKY that didn't catch fire. Edit: Oh, and the amount of AI SoCal fire videos popping up is DISGUSTING.

I 100% relate to your experiences with the fires, I live about 9ish miles away from the Eaton fire and even though we live far enough away that we weren't in immediate evac orders we were still close enough that the air quality was extremely bad (also had the ash raining down from the sky like snow) and we had near constant anxiety over more fires breaking out or Eaton spreading to us. All of it has been mentally and emotionally exhausting, and my heart breaks for the communities that lost everything. So glad the boyz and team are safe though 💕

we just had hurricane Helene here a few months ago, and I relate heavily to what y'all are saying about feeling frozen and almost in denial about a disaster. it's really fucking scary to not have any idea how these things go, what YOUR plan should be in a situation like that. It's so overwhelmingly terrifying, and then the news moves on while you're still picking up the pieces. our situations are very different, of course, but thanks for talking about it anyway. I appreciate y'all so much.
@oakleyves4 сағат бұрын
natural disasters can only be on the news cycles for a day and change where you live forever. we had a terrible flood and had so little support that people were stealing what little was recovered from each other. i don't live there anymore but the entire county has never been the same. it was a coaltown too so most people living there were cheated by not getting payouts etc that their families could live on. i've heard it's similar for many places in the path of helene. it's really unfortunate only being relevant when they can get drone shots.

25:20 have not finished the video yet obviously, but just want to say that as someone who's never created a video in my life but possesses eyes, the editing on this video (the generic backing piano music, the "look at me" text pop-in) absolutely comes across as completely tone deaf

I've thankfully never gone through a fire, but have gone through cyclones and floods where I lost belongings, had to leave my home etc. It's awfully traumatic. Even just having to be aware and watching the news/tracking the disaster. I'd take a flood over a fire any day. As heartbreaking as going through my flooded belongings was (and having to get rid of so much, not just because of the water damage but the type of water it was made everything... stink...). Lots of love to y'all and all dealing with this. Thank you for the laughs.

So im not exactly an expert but… Regarding the water availability for fighting fires, as someone who works in designing water utilities and assessing the capacity of water systems, it would be extremely expensive (i would even tentatively say basically fiscally impossible) to build a water system capable of fighting fires anything close to this magnitude (without arial supply). In washington state, hydrants typically need to supply 750 gallons per minute in residential areas and 1000-3000 gpm for larger facilities. This requires A. Large enough pipes to appropriately handle these flows (think 10” to 16” diameter pipes, probably 18” or larger in some areas-they are HUGE and get expensive to procure VERY QUICKLY) and B. Enough system pressure to force the water out of the hydrants at high enough speeds. System pressure is largely dependent on the elevation of water tanks, so in areas that are relatively high up, pumps would also be needed. These pumps also increase in cost quickly depending on the size and capacity. Also, storing an adequate amount of water to fight fires would require either a lot of small water tanks or a few very very large water tanks. Ultimately my point is, in order to adequately respond to a fire of this magnitude without hydrants losing pressure AND without helicopters (as was the issue early in the palisades fire), possibly hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars would be required to install the necessary infrastructure in LA alone.
@chatceux20 сағат бұрын
Also, when one hydrant is opened it reduces the pressure at all connected hydrants to various degrees, so opening many hydrants in one area is just not feasible after a certain point, depending on the starting pressure.

It's the ACTIVE insincerity of the tone and lack of awareness in that vlog video that tells me they're using a catastrophe for content. Also the constant use of "you guys" in those vids triggers something in me that just makes me more mad. It makes me think of the Christian adage something along the lines of, those who only pray around others are the most false believers or something. They could help, quietly, but they don't. It's all so insanely cynical.

Everybody's talking about the water situation, but these fires are particularly difficult to fight because of their proximity to developed areas. It's known as the wildland-urban interface and the structures, properties, and population eliminates more tools at firefighters' disposal than just water. Backburning and getting dozers in to set up robust fire breaks is damn near impossible. The water is a factor too but there's so much more at play when these fires happen in heavily populated areas. Firefighters are making cost/benefit calls about their own safety and attempting to save someone's property, essentially with one hand tied behind their back.

Well, i wouldn't say Elon wants the the approval of the worst people online as much as he want approval and his other choices made it so those people are all he had left His daughter is trans and he doesn't support that so he expresses himself about that and suddenly he lost everyone who isn't a transphobe, his workers join civil parties and sue his company so he now openly aligns himself with the conservatives, he comes out saying he's basically into eugenics (avoiding to mention it's not really on grounds of race {tho that IS a factor} but more so on grounds of class) so he loses everyone who sees red flags when someone is into eugenics and basically doing great replacement posting so he aligns himself with the racists, he wants cheap labor so he supports things that get him that and so he loses some of the racists it's kinda like he's pissing everyone up because he only believes in helping himself so the list of communities and sub communities that like him become smaller over time to the point where only The shittiest people have been remaining fir a while
