Jeff is a perfect example of a person that got some rough breaks in life, but lived alot of it and touched many people. It's not quantity, it's quality of life. RIP brother.

@@Glum1964In the end, that’s the sentence we are all handed. That was part of the point of the OP, but yeah, he still went way too young. At least he got more out of life, in spite of dying that young, than a lot of people do who live twice as long.

Jeff Healey was the only blind man who could see, sing, write, play guitar better than most sighted people. He's a Canadian Legend, Heroe and I Respect the Gentle Man. He asked if we could see the light, he is the "real" light. I love that song as much as all the other rock and blues songs he created. I believe he's to the right of the right hander. Thanks for sharing.

I saw him playing on my lunchtime at Roy Thompson Hall court side in Canada, one summer. I didn’t know who he was, I remembered loving the way he was playing with his soul. I asked him what his name was and I introduced myself and telling him how I was enjoying his style of playing the guitar and how the music was smooth. He thanked me. I just found out that he died. Thank you Jeff for the beautiful legacy.

Of course he still was optimistic he would survive. I also remember I was dancing in the streets after seeing and hearing him in my home town Groningen the Netherlands. I was a fan of Jeff and was blessed to see him live at House of Blues in New Orleans front and center stage. As a man who never could learn to read or play music by sheets or charts, self taught piano, drums, guitar, bass and a few other… I stood in awe and amazed at Jeff playing… blindly, but unmistakably one with self and the guitar as his soul shined through the tapestry of its strings. An amazing person and gift to overcome challenges where others have much more and lay to waste. RIP Jeff Healy. I still play your music frequently. Thanks for the post. I did not know he was from Canada. Never too old to learn something new everyday.

🎸...So I am walking around Giants Stadium in New Jersey during The Budweiser Summer Fest in the summer of 1992 looking for a place to sit down. I hear this incredible sound. It's a guitar, but not just any guitar. The music was blasting through my ears and rattling my soul. I had never heard anything like it before and I have been to a zillion concerts. I asked the person next to me, "what the hell is that?" His face lit up and he said, "That's Jeff Healey man!" I quickly found a bleacher and parked my butt on it so I could watch the show. I will never forget that moment. I sat there in shock and amazement. To watch Jeff Healey play guitar live was an experience I will always be grateful for. I went to the show to see The Allman Brothers but instead I saw a legend. It's sad to think about a guy with so much talent having such a challenging life. Jeff Healey was one of the best Blues musicians of all time. May he Rest in Peace now. ✌️

Over 20 years ago Jeff Healey played the most amazing live show I've ever seen, we were in Calgary Alberta at a little jazz club called beat niq, listening to some average band and all of a sudden in the middle of their set the lead singer literally stopped dead and said hey is that Jeff Healey in the audience? He invited him up on stage, Jeff had them bring all the instruments they had in the club and literally sat within touching distance of clarinet, trumpet, every kind of instrument and then he did a history of jazz set off the cuff... starting from early Jazz Dixieland, Acid Jazz you name it he did it ...and it was magical, and was on that stage by himself... he was a literal musical genius and I've seen it with my own eyes

He was so beautiful. To bad he could never see how gorgeous he was. He could hear his voice and what a voice. His raspy sound was what I loved about his voice. I've seen Roadhouse so many times just to watch Jeff. Can't hardly believe how young he died and such a horrible thing he went through with cancer. His eyes and then cancer took him. We have donated trillions of dollars to research for cures for cancer but it's still here and taking thousands of lives every year. 😢

I love blues, but I'm old metal head at heart. I loved Jeff's music back in the day. A few years ago I decided to see what he'd been up to. I was heartbroken to learn he'd passed away. Someone should make a movie about his life. He took his love for music and invented a new way to play his instrument. I would imagine he inspired more people than he ever realized, and refused to be a tragedy. He made more of his 41 years than most of us will do with twice as many years. R.I.P. Jeff.

Jeff Healey was an extraordinarily talented young man. He was taken from us far too soon. He was amazing. Absolutely love him.

A legend who never let life's hardships stop him from doing more in his short life than most of us do in a lifetime. RIP Mr Healy

My band played the same club as Jeff Healey in 1999 in Raleigh, NC. We opened his show. He was such a great musician and even better person. RIP Jeff

Saw his "Jazz Wizards" outfit in brampton, of all places. Very mature restrained crowd. Jeff played trumpet most of the night, but eventually played a few guitar tunes. While everyone else politly clapped i let out a whistle and a 'hoot'. He turned his head directly towards me and threw me the horns🤟 with a huge grin! What an awesome dude. And a killer guitarist

Jeff was a guitarist of unique and spectacular talent. To listen to him shred on "See The Light" is a journey through greatness. His unusual playing style allowed his chord changes and crisp string work to set him all alone above most of his peers. The world lost a top notch musician when he passed away far too soon. It was said he was a kind and genuine man, with grace and friendliness towards all he met and loved deeply among those close to him. Rest in peace Jeff, now you can truly see the light.
