Insight into two workdays! I took on a different caseload while my supervisor was at a conference. Sorry, I have been MIA for the last few months. I am back at the vlog life and want to show what SLPs do in the hospital!

Thank you so much for posting! I'm in my undergrad for speech path right now, and I've been considering working on the medical side. Seeing your videos has helped me have such a better understanding of what it's like working in a hospital, and now I can't wait to get to graduate school!

Glad you’re enjoying the videos and school! I’m definitely bias to the medical side of SLP but our field covers so many interesting settings!

Thanks for sharing! I was fortunate enough to get a placement in acute care for SLP and LOVED it at the hospital. I really enjoyed watching your vlog

I loved watching this video! & it was so fun seeing you work at Shands since I'm currently in grad school at UF. I'm interested in acute care and haven't had a placement in that setting yet but your video was such good insight on what this would look like, thank you for sharing :)

i'm currently studying master in speech pathology - did you find it daunting first working in the medical /hospital setting and dealing with people on ventilators etc? working with children seems quite uplifting/fun and the only thing that slightly worries me is the shock of working with someone on a ventilator/very serious swallowing issues! do you have any thoughts on how to deal with it or is it something that should come naturally? thanks!

SLP grad student (starting in August) here! I have polymysoitis and thankfully am on really great treatments - but I just am interested in the medical side and WHAT A COOL COINCIDENCE!!! I had very mild dysphasia when I was at my worst and it’s so wonderful I can help people just like me one day!

im going to go to grad school to be a slp i wanna work in the hospital bc it will make more money. how much is your salary? like a general range
@kellyleonard6002 Жыл бұрын
It really depends on the state you work in, if you’re PRN vs full time and also typically CFYs make less than SLPs with their CCCs
@jilianrice2335 Жыл бұрын
@@kellyleonard6002would you say pay is sufficient considering the amount grad school is? I was originally a nursing major but burnout seems to be high in the nursing field.
@shern029 Жыл бұрын
Hi SLP here - that is not entirely true or depending on area hospital SLPS do not really make more money.

@@kellyleonard6002 well i live in chicago so i guess it depends on the location and i plan on getting my CCCS

Do you know any RNs who went back to school for SLP?
@kellyleonard6002 Жыл бұрын
Personally, I don’t. But that carry over of RN experience would be beneficial in acute care SLP work!!
