In the credits it says "...and the 79 steps to enlightenment." this refers to the little golden sparkels all over the map. You can pick them up and once you get all of them, you can ... *spoiler alert* ...open a secret chamber with a long staircase leading down. At the end is a larger room with a crystal growth in the likes of a throne. Hovering above the throne is a black sword, called the sword of dormin. If inspected carefully, it says "the sword of dormin" on the side in the same language as from Ico. The eye shaped object on the hilt will change blue when the colossus being fought is passive and red when agressive, matching the eyes of the colossus. I hope this helped.

Normally you don’t seal of an entire land for who knows how long and decide the mind of what looks, sounds like and seems like a demon monster, who’s scattered parts all where exstreamly hostile despite there death being the only thing that can put them back together Dunno if dormin actually revived the girl because the dude in the mask was whispering some prayers or spells or something. The run is of the land dident just fall appart on there own, nor were they evacuated for no reason It could be possible that maybe it was like... a thing where they sealed away dormin out of fear and all of the colossi weren’t happy about it, witch is why the land had to be evacuated The whole game itself seems open to interpitation because it dose vary little to answer literally any question you may have about anything aside from what the collossi can do. Who they actualy are and why the area is abandoned

I think they probably changed the grip meter because some people (like my brother and myself) used to get the grip meter so large that it obscured the screen for play, so it was hard to see what you're doing.

@@obi1633 Honestly, it was so long ago that it's hard to remember exactly how big, but it got huge. Definitely started getting toward the center of the screen if it didn't quite reach. It would fade out when you weren't gripping anything so you could see what you were doing, but if you were hanging onto the side of a colossus, it tended to block your view a bit. Of course, that was after about 2-3 full playthroughs of the main story with new game+. It also allowed you to get up to the top of the temple which I'm pretty sure you can still do. You just have to find the right spot and start climbing with a large enough grip meter.

The girl who wakes up is named Mono. Some players believe that, due to her resurrection by Dormin, Mono came to gain immortality or some sort of dark power, eventually becoming the powerful Queen. This explanation makes sense because it plays into the tragic nature of Shadow of the Colossus's story, having Wander work so hard to revive her, only to have her turn evil. Some players have also noted similarities in Mono's and the Queen's appearances. It should also be noted that Dormin speaks with two simultaneous voices - male and female -, and when they are fully manifested, the female voice is inaudible. Those weird shiny things are used to open a secret area in the temple. It's sort of an opposite for the secret garden, and holds a new weapon, The Sword of Dormin. That said, there's over 70 of them, and several can't be acquired until new game+.

the reason why Agro survies the fall into the water is because the falling debris from the bridge broke up the water's surface tension, so instead of falling into the water and smacking into the equvilent of Concrete, Agro fell into a cushion of bubbles and churned water, she probably got hit by the small bits of rock that fell in after her and maybe got slamed around by the currents but thats why she's well enough to limp her poor equine butt back to the temple.

Hey Jack, This is a rather late bit of advice but you don’t actually need to continuously spam Triangle to keep Agro running. You can just hold the button and she’ll keep running. Also, If you Pull back on the Left thumb stick and hold down Triangle a split second afterwards.. Agro will actually rear up and take off at full speed almost instantly! Hopefully you see this even though it is a very late tip

Not that it is relevant anymore but I have a useful tip for fighting Malus. When you're on his hands, you can actually stab him to make him stop shaking. It's especially useful for his right hand since you have to stand on it to shoot him in his shoulder.

When I first played the game on the ps3. Me being a kid at the time I loved horses. Argos supposed demise made me break down into tears. I cried for 5 minutes then that sadness turned into anger and I beat the last colossus easily despite in my opinion being the most intimidating one of them all. Theory: The tomb in the last guardian where the boy finds the shield is where Wanda (the horned baby) is eventually buried by the queen in attempts to harness Dormin's powers, which is why the circle is also there, a gateway to wherever Dormin was vanished. The trico's are evolved forms of the horned children from Ico and as descendent of Wanda have a piece of Dormin inside which is why the black patterns appear on the children once swallowed. The children are fed into the tower, feeding the black sphere, a manifestation of Dormin, until he is powerful enough to resurrect Wanda and use him as a 'warrior' again. The crystals in the cages are of the same origin as the Ancient Sword, hence why the trico's are able to be controlled, much the same as the colossus can be killed. That area was abandoned similar to how the cursed lands were.

I cried at the end No wonder this game was so critically acclaimed! The ending is so dark and unique, no "happily ever afters" or "the hero lives to tell the tale". Jack I hope you read this because I am going to explain how Shadow of the Colossus, ICO, and Last Gaurdian fit together in story. Truth of the Story: Dormin is a God that was feared. In ancient religious legends, Gods had to be worship and be in one piece to have power. A God that did not have their body together and was no longer worship was just a floating ghost. The people in the city stopped worshiping Dormin and used the magic sword to destroy his body. Each body piece was trapped within the earth along with a shrine/arc to keep it in place. The body forge with the earth, creating Colossus that could not leave the land. Wander was not a warrior, just a boy who loved a girl that was sacrifice. Dormin could bring her back to life, but needed his full power back. He used Wanders body to forge his body together. When the High Priest (Old Chief) used the magic sword in the pool of holy water, it killed Dormin for good and forged Dormin's God Powers into Wander. When Wander grows up again, he will have kids. Each child will have a small part of Dormin's Power, but only one chosen child will have the majority and true Power of Dormin. In ICO, the queen was sacrificing her daughters to stay young, but she learned of Wander's decedents and wanted Dormin's Power. ICO was the chosen one with the true power of Dormin and he has the Magic sword that is Ancestor (wander) uses. After Ico, the boy has kids and his descendant (that possesses the True power of Dormin) is in Last Gaurdian. In Last Gaurdian, The Valley Master knows of Dormin's power that is trapped within Wanders Descendants and he is trying to find the one that has Dormin's True Power. The Valley Master wants to use Dormin's Power to be the most powerful God. The Boy and Trico end up killing the Valley Master. The mirror, is made from the same material and magic as the magic sword (Which both Wander and Ico used). Because of the power of Dormin that was within the boy, Trico was connected to the boy more and was no longer connected to the Valley Master, There is your answer Jack. Hope you enjoy.

Jack, their are 79 of those little relic coins around the map. Once you collect them all. One of the huge tiles on the side of the shrine of worship will start to sparkle. You then open it with your sword power. And their is a awesome looking rock formation with the sword of dormin sitting inside. Although it is still a collectable you can still use this amazing looking sword. It also turns out that the eye of the collosus is used in the sword, or at least is shown on the sword. I really hope that this comments helps you Jack or anyone that is wondering about these relic coins around the map.

In response to Jack's questions at the end of the credits: Dormin probably wasn't fully formed yet, and the ancient sword obviously has a very strong connection to him. We don't know if it was just the sword's contact with the pool that created the spell to halt Dormin's resurrection, or if Emon had some special power or did something to the sword in that moment so he could do that. Either way, the evil is clearly not fully gone, since baby Wander has horns. The bridge was probably magic, and probably couldn't be destroyed by normal means. That's why it's magically destroyed at the end. The Forbidden Lands as a whole are a magical place, like the island from Lost. Time has mostly stopped, and the weather is always the same (aside from 16's arena). At the end of the game, with the colossi dead and Dormin removed from whatever seat of power he had, the bridge breaks and time resumes. The Forbidden Lands are presumably now just like any other place in the world.

Momon143 it may be that the sword in the lake was meant to tear Dormin from Wander and to remove any trace of the hold they had on him, which resulted in him being reborn with horns from before as a scar and reminder of what he had done. Dormin, meanwhile, could have lost their physical form but still be free and *left* the place, ending the spell that was holding the bridge up that they placed so someone could do what Wander had done. Each time the statues shattered, it was after the part of their soul was claimed. So, Wander freed the pieces of Dormin, and Dormin then had the power to break the statues. Emon could have been referring to the transformed Wander (aka Dormin) as the foul beast, and used the sword to sever that, but not *destroy* Dormin since he couldn't. They may be out there still, gathering souls and power and bringing evil...

Could certainly be that way. Some people believe that the mysterious sarcophagus from "The Last Guardian" contains Dormin. It could be that someone was attempting to bring him back using the life force of the boys captured by the Tricos. Losing Agro, Malus being unable to move, the slow pace of progression and the fact that Malus does nothing to really protect himself against you kind of seals it in. Shadow of the Colossus was the baptism by fire, in my old gamer-gang, back in the day. You wanted to be a part of the gang, you had to beat three games. The first was Super Mario for the NES. Then it was The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time. Last but not least, Shadow Of The Colossus. Once all games were beaten, we'd give our new member his nickname. Mine was, and still is: Monobrow Butterfingers, due to my long hair always getting in the way and also due to me always pressing the wrong damn button. Other examples of nicknames were: Burger Flash (A guy that could finish Mario on record time, because a cheeseburger was at stake). Burpy Fist (My brother, who kept punching the controller when he lost, and he also could burp the loudest of us all.) And finally: Bullseye Curses (My cousin. His aim in any game is impressive, but he also curses a lot when he does eventually miss.)

I would love to watch your time trials too!! And there are some exploratory places you would love to see! If you look on the map, south of Dirge there is a bridge that you can cross with Agro, and there is a gap that she actually jumps over. In that same area, there is this big slope down to a small sandy beach, and you can kind of swim in the ocean :D you can fly too! Near Dirge there is a big tree overlooking a hill, if you stand on the rock nearby and wait, Loki (the biggest hawk) will come down and you can jump and hold on to him while he flies around! Basically the west side of the map is my favourite hahaha

Gonna drop my sweet theory here. Tried to cover a lot of questions I've seen and plotholes I've been figuring for a long time. Dormin was a beloved young god or spirit or other being known as a 'Guardian', worshipped and adored and truly benevolent and kind. Until something occurred to change them. Perhaps a war broke out and they became furious that their worshippers could be so cruel. So they lashed out at them and took away their gifts to them (maybe sending colossi to protect the ruined cities so they couldn't return?) Believing them corrupt or poisoned, the people who were spared cast a ritual of some sort to break him into 16 pieces and put the pieces into the colossi. They could protect their precious Guardian until they could heal them. Unfortunately, this only infuriated them further. That's why Dormin is only broken up instead of fully sealed, the survivors still had hope to get their loving, benevolent Guardian back. The blue/silver stuff in the salamanders' tails is a result of the splitting ceremony, sort of like the Guardian's blood or life source in a sense. Thus why it makes Wander stronger. (This is important later.) Fast forward to SotC. Wander is a descendant of the survivors and knows the tales of Dormin's powers and kindness. Mono is killed (how doesn't really matter) and Wander is desperate to get her back. At the end here, unable to cut Dormin up again and seeing how deep this "corruption" has truly over taken Dormin, the lord dude seals them up away for good, knowing it will seal the god inside of Wander. This is why he gives the little speech, still holding onto hope that Wander can redeem himself for causing the final demise of Dormin. Dormin, in their last thralls, does revive Mono in the hopes she will raise baby Wander so that they can live on and one day be freed. Mono DOES raise Wander in the forbidden lands, and one day, Wander escapes. (why? how? doesn't really matter) Outside, Wander is met with prejudice. No one knows who he is--he doesn't even know!--and the horns are seen as a curse. Wander eventually makes a life for himself and has children, leading into Ico and it's events. While these events are occurring, or maybe some time after, another parallel event is happening in the area that would become the setting for The Last Guardian. The green final boss guy being another Guardian like Dormin. However, they weren't so kind and destroyed everyone. This, however, caused them to weaken without people to worship them or care for them. That's why they're a little green ball instead of a great hulking creature. The mirror and pool at the start of TLG were supposed to act for this green Guardian the way the sword and pool here works for Dormin, but it went wrong for whatever reason. (Here's where it gets kinda weird and you gotta trust me on this one. This is also where the silver/blue "blood/life source" comes into play.) The spilling of Dormin's life source during the splitting ceremony had more effects on the wild life than just the salamanders, and either led to the rapid evolution of the trico species OR affected the trico species in some way. Thus their gloing horns and why they ar easily manipulated by the green Guardian. This being uses the trico species to capture and convert young humans into a substitute for the worship and care of humans, using specially made armor like their armor-slaves to bring them fully under their control. Our trico (who ill refer to with a capital T from here on out) is sent out like any other one but happens upon a late, late descendant of Dormin, thus the lack of horns. That's why their eyes flash when they meet and why the boy and Trico form such a bond so quickly. Alternatively, there's nothing special about the boy, and tricos were originally a very domesticated species, and the eyes flashing is just the green Guardian's way of marking targets. Doesn't matter too much. I kinda prefer the second one. The lightning that strikes Trico down is either an act of fate or sheer luck as, without the armor removed, Trico would have still converted the boy into energy for his master no matter how connected they were if at all. The events of TLG occurs and the death of the green Guardian (implied to be the last via the title) comes to pass. This explains the color choices, aesthetic changes, and such between SotC and TLG, as the two Guardians would have been protecting and being worshipped by different societies, while also explaining a direct connection between them vs just a vague 'in the same universe' connection. There's no direct connection between Ico and TLG if the boy is not a descendant of Wander, but does feel like Ico and TLG are two different sides of a coin, one following the effect of Dormin's effect on Wander and his descendants, and another expanding further on the idea of Guardians themselves. BUT. That all said, I'm not as familiar with Ico as I am TLG and SotC, so I many be missing major details here.

I just finished playing Shadow of the Colossus on PS4 for the first time and I went to this video to see what you said about the remake at the end. Playing this for the first time was so surreal, it was such a great experience. I was terrified by the Colossi and how their size. The world is so empty yet it was so beautiful and by far one of my favorite open worlds in any game. The game is 100% a masterpiece and I want to thank you Jack for introducing me to this game, I watched you play it on PS3 :)

If you press triangel when you are Dormin, you can breath fire. And you can also just hold down triangel when you are riding Agro, then you dont have to listen to her whine all the time :P. Also, try holding down R2 and move the left stick up when riding Agro, Its awsome :D!
