This Lightning is absolutely beautiful and flown excellently. Not like the hot rod flyers who have to fly their models all out and jerking around the sky like the real one never did! It was a real treat to see it in the air giving the viewer a real impression of what our hobby is all about. Thanks so much!

I really appreciate the very scale-like, smooth flying style. Anybody can jerk an aircraft around like a fibrillating mass of jelly; it takes real skill to pilot one so realistically. Thoroughly enjoyable video, and great job bringing back the Lightning👋👍.

Brilliant, and thanks for this excellent video. I have loved The Lightning since the first time I saw one take off in 1962. All we need now is a real Lightening in the air again.

Shame you couldn't have bought a real English electric lightning. There were many of them parked at RAF Wildenrath in Germany near the B221 road, close to our fuel depot at Arsbach, close to the Dutch German border and a few miles down the road from RAF Wildenrath.

Beautiful model and beautifully flown. It’s rare to see a scale jet flown so well and in such a scale manner which is even more impressive with a type of aircraft that is known to be hard to handle. Great flying sir.

Fabulous. As iconic and beautiful in its own way as other notable swept wing classics. Beautifully flown too, though power doesn't look quite enough for doing the vertical climb of the fullsize? No matter, its scale flying speed overall is spot on. Love it 👍

Traditional built with wood and covered with proskin in parts 2 jet cat 220 turbines, Futaba radio with powerbox unit, retracts/brakes etc scrach built by the late Harold Dowbekin, also Ted Alison the builder of the model as also sadly past away one of only two built from his plan at true 1/4 scale.
@cg70252 күн бұрын
Magnificent Sir. What a beautiful scale flight....and that landing, perfection. The only thing "missing" is the afterburner on take off and on those vertical climbs! Do they do such a thing....an afterburning RC jet engine? I imagine it would be too complex and bring a lot of issues with it if so. Can't imagine what its like to fly something like your Lightening, that scale, weight and speed knowing an error could be so costly. Balls of steel! Superb concentration and focus!
@daveparry71672 күн бұрын
It has to Jet Cat 220's we think it will go vertical, but haven't been brave enough to push is yet, never say never with the afterburners, things are always being developed in man sheds, there is a light version that can be fitted to give the effect, this is a possibility in the future, still lot ot be done to it yet, a complete new colour scheme its first on the agender.

It’s a gorgeous model, Large scale indeed!! Takes a ton of skill and nerve to fly something that big especially in an unforgiving sky. The exposed servos on the stabilizers are a minor detraction but probably greatly simplifies construction?

*Very nice plane* but it's missing a strobe light and running lights. Thank you for sharing. I'm a life long atheist, as my family is secular and from Sweden. Wishing you all Holiday cheer. Thousands of years ago long before Jesus, way back in the Neolithic, It is the Sun which is rebirthed in the passageway of an ancient tomb, the Grand Passage Tomb in the Boyne Valley, Newgrange Ireland. In 1350 BCE Amenhotep the fourth created a monotheistic god from the solar disk, then known as the Aten. Some of Amenhotep's work can be found in the bible as Psalm 104 also known as "The Great Hymn to the Aten". Christians pay homage to this man after a prayer, "Amen". Today our hearts bring back the Light in a celebration from Scandinavia which lasts over several days during the winter solstice known as "Yule". Predating Christianity and originating thousands of years ago. Known as a Norse festival called "jol" named after the Norse god Odin. The Norse being the ancestors of Vikings with the ancestor of the Vikings dating back over 12000 years ago in Scandinavia. The rebirth of the Sun being the oldest known winter solstice celebration, we celebrate the rebirth and the warmth of the Sunshine (Love, Peace, Happiness, Goodwill to man)… Have a Wonderful Winter's Solstice. Bring me Sunshine.
