The Lightrail in Calgary, Canada 2024

CTrain (previously branded C-Train) is a light rail system in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Much of the system functions as a high-capacity light metro, while in the downtown free-fare zone, trains run like a modern tram with a dedicated right-of-way. This subway-surface alignment is known as semi-metro.
The CTrain began operation on May 25, 1981, and has expanded as the city has increased in population. The system is operated by Calgary Transit, as part of the Calgary municipal government's transportation department.[6] In 2023, the system had a ridership of 85,320,400, or about 264,200 per weekday as of the fourth quarter of 2023, making it one of the busiest light rail transit systems in North America. Approximately 45% of workers in Downtown Calgary take the CTrain to work. ~Wikipedia

Εξαιρετική δουλειά, εξαιρετικές εγκαταστάσεις και οχήματα, το πρόβλημα παρόμοιο με των ΗΠΑ, δηλαδή μικρή επιβατική κίνηση. Μονά και διπλά αρθρωτά οχήματα σε σύζευξη, αποτελούν την καλύτερη λύση για τα light rails παγκοσμίως!

It actually has higher ridership than any light rail system in the US despite being less expensive to build than many of them and being located in a smaller city than most of them. So it doesn't have low ridership in common with US systems at all.

@@trenomanis Timosha added daily ridership information from Wikipedia to the video description. Apparently there's an average of about 264,000 riders per day. That's more than any US light rail system even though it's less than before the covid pandemic. I'm not sure where to find train occupancy numbers since that isn't a statistic we use here, but in most systems the trains are busy when many people travel to or from work and quieter at other times. This video was filmed on a weekend when many people don't work. People who film trains often prefer to film at quiet times when possible to show the trains better and to not annoy passengers who may not want to be filmed. Not seeing many passengers during a quiet time doesn't mean there's low total ridership.
