I remember there was a time restriction when the game would log you out after a certain period of time for a patch or something, and the people who do AFKs did everything at their disposal, so they won't get logged out.

On my server we have a dancing guy in a moggle outfit with their sometimes copy dancing across from them. A Lalafell bench. Then the bara Roegadyn and Hrothgar bench on the other side.

On Crystal Brynhildr, there is this Thancred in Old Sharlayan by the aetheryte who is just always dancing. They never move from their spot, they look just like Thancred, clothes too and they just..dance while AFK. I swear they were still there even after maintenance.

Back when I was still in Adamantoise before me and my friends packed up and moved to Dynamis, every day when I would go to the Maelstrom headquarters to unload my extra junk gear there would be a dude step dancing on the stone rail between the drowned wench and the hq, weeks later I went back to get better queue times and the dude was still there, he may even still be step dancing to this day

On Famfrit, there are not one but TWO massive groups of AFKers. The Jades, a group of identical Hyur women dancing in a circle in perfect syncronisation, and the Weaboo Police, a group of identical Roegadyn men who just stand there menacingly. There's also technically the Weaboo FBI, but I consider them to just be a subgroup of the Weaboo Police.

Be me. Midgardsormr server. Ul'dah Aetheryte. For the longest time, a woman named Freyja Succubus was standing at the top of the stairway leading to the big Aetheryte, sweeping her broom there nonstop. Any time I went there she would be sweeping and probably surrounded by people doing the Manderville dance. Nowadays Freyja Succubus isn't there anymore but last I checked there was a Lalafell named N'tiss Succubus, part of a free company called SWEEP, that was doing the same thing in the same spot!

My afk spot of choice is locked on to the Limsa main aetheryte, already tabbed to the world list menu. Reason: people are so impatient that there's basically no other way to get to off-world S ranks than to just sit there waiting at one of the three places in the entire game where world transfers are possible, one click away from the actual transfer--and even then, your odds are 50/50 at best. (Yeah yeah, early pullers, don't blame everyone, blah blah blah, but you can only blame them so often when even established pull times only give you about 3 minutes at best to get through potentially huge queues, nobody shows even the slightest sympathy to folks who miss out due to trolls/impatience, and mob mentality absolutely kicks in once anyone pulls and the whole group goes ham.) I do my best to ignore the...activity going on around me in the meantime.
