Wellness check is absolutely a thing, though Syd is correct that it likely would not be state police, much less detectives making the check. Would normally be patrol with city or sherriff depending on location of the home.

One thing that maybe they forget or maybe i got it wrong is, isnt there a rule that if the skill is high enough and the task is not that difficult you just like "hand wave" the roll? i feel the Curtain pulling might be one of those examples. didnt i read that somewhere that your not supposed to roll for everything.

That's right, the rules say that rolls are necessary only in critical or uncertain situations. An Agent with a high enought skill should succeed at related tasks automatically. For example, the book might say "Requires Computer Science or SIGINT at 30% or higher, or a roll at +20%..." I guess it is just the way Joe likes to play it, but I agree - sometimes the rolls seem unnecessary.

in this case it might be because it happened in "initiative"; when things are happening very quickly it makes more sense to roll for smth mundane like tearing down curtains

There is, but it absolutely would not have applied during combat. Also, severely underestimating curtains lol. Have you ever tried to tear thick fabric by hand? If they were held up with wood or metal, you ain't gonna just rip that down without thinking. And there ain't no skill for "tearing down curtains", so I still don't think that would even apply here.

Yeah I think Joe absolutely handled that correctly. Especially when Syd then changed to saying she did it one handed. I enjoy Syd's enthusiasm and I typically prefer to go with rule of cool, but Syd also likes to very much push the envelope on that like when she said she should be able to figure out the code because "she's good at puzzles". That's not really something you just hand wave with backstory. Still, very much enjoying this and it is great that Syd is often thinking outside the box. That always makes for the best RPG experiences.

@JessiNaka The CIA is legally prohibited from and officially does not operate on US soil. It would probably be redundant to say there is no CIA operation. Or it was an innocent mistake by Joe that I got way to excited about. :D

@@feral_orc Yea, that's operating but I think there's a distinction between an organizations infrastructure operating and An Operation. In this situation Bobby is a case officer expensing an asset and associating it to An Operation. The CIA running Operations on US soil is a major violation of federal law and could get the organization in a lot of trouble. I'm assuming Bobby didn't casually violate federal law and made the requisition through DG. We are definitely splitting hairs and naval gazing at this point. I honestly think it was a very simple mistake by Joe, or was it?!?

I really want to critique this action scene, as a dm, he's beyond peerless when it comes to npcs and narrative tension, but when guns come out hrmm, too much pixelbitching about player actions imo. Let the players act, honor their intentions, give them a roll as necessary

Disagree. If you've ever actually held a real small arm in your hand, they are relatively substantial, and will take up your whole hand. Further you'd be using your dominant hand. It is totally realistic what Joe was saying. It simply comes from the PC not actually understanding the logistics of handling a firearm. Totally legit discussion.
