One thing he forgot to mention: the original was made by Disney’s “B” team, the newbies, the interns, the ones not paid attention to. The “A” team worked on Pocahontas. But the “B” team didn’t just say, “Oh well, we’re the lower class, don’t work hard on this.” They gave their all, and we got the original. Don’t work for the money, work cuz you care.

My problems with the remake: 1. Some characters are hard to tell apart; For example, in the original, Simba and Nala as cubs were easy to distinguish because Simba had a saturated shade, while Nala was brighter, and had green eyes. Here, they look far too similar. 2. Characters like Zazu and Pumba look far less colourful than in the original. 3. They took out Scar's "Be Prepared" song.

@MrMarinus18
@MrMarinus18 3 жыл бұрын
The different colors is actually one of the bigger shortcomings. In most LK fan comics they take a lot more liberty with that. Changing proportions, giving them faint patterns, using more exotic colors and other things. LK really has a lot of great fan comics. One of my favorites is "dark times" which goes into Scar's rule. How he was a good manipulator but an innept king. It really makes you love and appreciate Sarabi for how she keeps loyal and tries to hold everything together. Without her Simba would have had truly nothing. It also kind of makes you feel bad for Zirra who wanted respect and only found it with Scar who just used her as a tool.

I adore the whole "IT'S NOT REAL!" running gag Critic says, because it's true. The story isn't *supposed* to be real and yet the filmmakers attempt to defend the new "Lion King" as being "the real version". If the new film really wanted to go for realism, why did they have to make Africa look like poop smeared all over the "set" - Africa SHOULDN'T HAVE to look like that! You know it's bad when "Out of Africa" has a realistic African setting in comparison, with greenery - and for that matter why make the animals look less colorful?

Behaviour and mind have a feedback loop, engaging in a behaviour can influence the mind, everything from smiling, dancing, meditating, etc, influences your mind. It says a lot that people literally DON’T talk about this movie, or like, any of the remakes anymore. Like after the first couple months people genuinely stop talking about them. They get forgotten with the speed of only the trashiest films. There is always more hype around their release than the film itself. This movie has ALREADY faded into obscurity. Here's the thing about the expressions though: real animals have a greater range of emotion than this movie does. When cats are scared their ears lie back and their tails tuck in, when they're angry they puff up, furrows their brows, their tails swish and they hiss. When they're sad, they make themselves small. And when they're happy, they are more lively and their eyes get wide. This??? THISSS???? Every single shot of this from an animal's perspective says "mild interest". Last year I went to see Hans Zimmer in orchestra and the 5 minute Lion King segment made me feel more than the whole of this awful film. In this film they seem to chop up the best parts of the soundtrack and throw them in random scenes to try and trick the audience into feeling something because its so boring. In the stampede scene they cut out the BEST part of the soundtrack; the drums that start off the stampede just before Simba starts running. In the orchestra they had THREE different drummers (one on a timpani, and other two on separate drum kits), and when they played it felt like the o2 arena was going to fall down. This film? Nah let's just cut the drums out, who needs anything good 😑

It felt like the audience wasn't just witnessing the stampede, but could feel the impact of everything and every character. It was beautiful, masterfully done, and brought you into the scene. I do admire the talent of the CGI, and I "liked" this movie simply as eye candy. However, the female lions all look really wrong. Especially when they talk. It like it goes from pretty art to uncanny valley. The rest looks gorgeous but not the female lions when they talk, it looks... off.

The one thing that I was looking forward to when I heard they were making a lion king remake was seeing how they would put a spin on my favorite Disney villain song: Be Prepared... *THE ONE THING I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO, WAS TURNED INTO A FUCKING POEM!!!*

James Earl Jones sounds so tired. Be prepared was trash. Beyoncé’s whole song was pointless. Every scene sounds like it was the first take.

Be Prepared was the biggest let down for me. It’s my favourite villain song, all the visuals from the original, everything: ruined. But yh, nostalgia. I love nostalgia to my core, but this was a great let down. I pretty much agree with everything you said.

18:50 I really hate that Mufasa doesn't call him brother here. This was really important in this scene because in the original he wasn't giving an order as a king, he was really counting on his brother to be there for him
