I'M SO SAD TO REPORT THAT 'SUNI' THE RHINO FEATURED IN THE VIDEO RECENTLY PASSED AWAY. HE WAS THE LAST OF 7 WHITE NORTHERN RHINO'S IN THE WORLD. I FELT SO EMPOWERED STANDING BESIDE SUCH A MAJESTIC CREATURE, AND BLESSED TO HAVE STOOD IN HIS PRESENCE FOR A BRIEF TIME. I DEDICATE THIS VIDEO TO DEAR 'SUNI'
Check out my cover of Let It Go from Frozen • Let It Go - Frozen - A...
First of all, I want to give a huge shoutout and sincere thanks to Burt Matthews from Grant Victor, for making this memorable experience in Kenya possible!
It was such an honor to collaborate on this song with 2 incredibly talented artists from Kenya. Alisha Popat (you may recognize her from Lindsey Sterlings "We Found Love, Rhianna Cover".
Please click on the end of the video to see more videos from both artists.
This song came about as a result of many fans asking me if I would do a cover the circle of life. My response was always "It's already africanized!!" But when I received a call from Burt Matthews to accompany him with his company to Kenya to do some humanitarian work including the building of a brand new school in Boyani, the song "circle of life" was just screaming out to me (after getting the ok from disney to cover it of course!)
INTRODUCTION TO THE SINGERS:
Loyaban Lemarti, a 6-foot-1-inch warrior, an aristocratic member of the Samburu tribe, which is closely related to the Masai tribe,
holds the title of the most interesting man in the world. A bushman from, grew up hunting for his own food in the wild, and climbs 100 ft trees with relative ease. He also owned a safari where he hosted celebs from sting to Brad & Angelina Jolie
Lemarti is one of the most talented artists (that is not aware how good he is) That's one of the many reasons people will love him. He is the real deal.
Give him a shoutout on his fb page!
/ lemarti-or-ghetto-soljah
Alisha Popat will be a force to be reckoned with in the US has already built a name for herself in her home town in Kenya, Africa and first made her successful debut in a Lindsey Stirling video. Lindsey emailed me one day and said " You guys should do a collab!" So here we are!! Alisha is very passionate about life and about her country of Kenya where she was raised. I'm excited for you to all join with me in seeing her career continue to flourish.
Show her some love on her Fb page!
/ alishapopat
Thanks to the slum drummers also from....
I can totally imagine them being on Americas got talent and winning the whole contest. The video doesn't do much justice to their diverse talent but introduces them to a wider audience from which people can have a taste of real skill.
Additional thanks to Steve Littlefield, Leah and all the staff @ Koins for Kenya, our drivers, and Zac Durant, videographer,
Also many thanks to Ambica Shah for Alisha's Magnificant headdress and for Alex Boye's feathered neck wear.
for more info: www.kapoetadesi...
Thanks to Burt Matthews from Grant Victor for arranging my memorable trip to Kenya, Alisha Popat, Lemarti,
Since 2003 Koins for Kenya has provided ways for caring Americans to actively engage with rural Kenyans to provide countless educational opportunities. No handouts. No imposed solutions. Education becomes the greatest weapon against hopelessness, the greatest genesis for change and growth. See how to join us in this exciting process.

It's funny how society can judge you according to their standards, can you imagine if Alex Boye didn't believe in himself after AGT found him not worthy of their stage. This man is creative and can sing his heart out.

AGT is a made up TV show... just like all TV shows. The judges and producers decide how things play out and the single best thing they could do for Alex was introduce him to a worldwide audience and then cut him free to be signed up internationally by agents who can get him the best performing opportunities, hopefully! Or, that’s the way it should work, unfortunately, many artists get chewed up before they find the right “agent.” Don’t think that will happen to Alex, though.

I can imagine how difficult that'd be logistically having to wrangle all those animals. The opening sequence "Circle of Life" sequence alone with all of those various animals would be possibly impossible, let alone to choreograph their movements. However, all that aside, I love the idea. :)

@verinyce5897
@verinyce5897 7 жыл бұрын
+Devin J. Bowden LOL First of all, how is my opinion racist? Hate to burst your social justice bubble snowflake, but Mr. Boye's skin color was the last reason I thought would make him a fitting role for Rafiki. It was his VOICE. Secondly, it's common sense that to pull off any character in film or tv, most notably in animation, that you need to find a person with a voice that would fit well with the character they are portraying. For example, James Earl Jones as Mufasa. I and many others would agree that his voice was more than fitting for the role of Mufasa, not because he was black, but because with his bass-like voice, he was able to embody everything Mufasa was in the film. As long as the voice fits and the actor/actress is able to emote, connect and be credible, their racial backgrounds shouldn't even be an issue and shouldn't even be thought of when choosing voice actors. Thirdly, that "damn monkey" is fricken awesome! Especially how he single-handedly whooped six of the hyenas in the last third of the film. In my opinion, he's one of the best characters in the entire film. I think Boye is a good choice for the role of Rafiki, he definitely has a voice that fits the character and when choosing a voice actor, that is the most important thing.

When I was a kid I remember that I always loved church the most when we had missionary's that would visit who had been posted in Africa somewhere for a period of time. I loved the music they brought back with them. There is something so "real" about it. I had long forgotten about that childhood enjoyment until I ran across your AGT audition, which was awesome and it was their loss you didn't go further, which led me to this video and man, what an awesome video. I can listen to it multiple times every day. Thank you for reminding me of that. Childhood was a long time ago, now I listen to it with my grandson.

From the day we arrive on the planet And blinking, step into the sun There's more to be seen than can ever be seen More to do than can ever be done Some say eat or be eaten Some say live and let live But all are agreed as they join the stampede You should never take more than you give In the circle of life, it's the wheel of fortune It's the leap of faith, it's the band of hope Till we find our place on the path unwinding In the circle, the circle of life Some of us fall by the wayside And some of us soar to the stars And some of us sail through our troubles And some have to live with the scars There's far too much to take in here More to find than can ever be found But the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky Keeps great and small on the endless round

@@gregorwaclaw8445 Good question. I also ask myself why there aren`t a LOT more people who are members of WWF, Greenpeace etc. Conservation cost money, and being a member is not very expensive. So, instead of sitting there and complain about the fact that more species are vanishing from this planet, people could actually DO something. Even a small contribution, such as a membership, could make a difference for a lot of species out there. If the development continues, we ourselves could be in jeopardy. After all, we`ve got only one planet.

This video brings up childhood memories for me. My dad worked in Nigeria when I was a kid. He brought back elephants that looked the same as the one the gentleman is carving. The artistry, the detail, the hard work is amazing. All of the turbulent politics this continent has had to endure over the centuries, people tend to forget the pure unadulterated beauty that it holds.
