for most people they can't pinpoint exactly what it is about the lion king that makes it so powerful and emotional because there's a number of things which it so special. The story, the message, the animation, rollercoaster of emotion. But I truly beleive that the scores by Hans Zimmer(and lebo) is what makes the lion king so perfect. the man is a prophet the music gives me the chills even 20 years after I first watched it.

I know that comment thread is old, but I agree with the soundtrack part. I like the story well enough and the animation is top notch, but the soundtrack is what really keeps me hooked to the screen. I haven't rewatched The Lion King that much to be honest, but I've lost count of how many times I've replayed the score. Hans Zimmer and Lebo M. are truly some of the best, and their combined work in The Lion King simply rules, pun intended.

@@mikieyc81 Thank you, we are. I live in Luderitz, Namibia and so far our town has been spared the worst. Since our first reported case in Namibia, Luderitz itself has reported about 10 cases. Our national cases are about 10,200 so far. Economically though, we've been hit hard. Namibia, especially Luderitz depends on tourism for a large part of our income. With all the borders being closed, that hit us hard. I work in a private school, and before the border shutdown, in the Felsenkirche or Church on the Rock. It's one of our most famous historical buildings in our town. It was built in 1912 and has some of the most beautiful stained glass windows. all still from 1912. In fact, at least 99% of the church is still from 1912. In 2010 and 2011 we had to do some renovations on the building, mostly giving it a new paint job, replaced the copper sheeting on the church bell tower since some of the copper plates were blown of by the wind, and replaced the old outside windows with new ones. It's like this. you have the stained glass windows on the inside, then a open space behind them, then a second window on the outside protecting the stained windows on the inside. We replaced the outside ones with new shatterproof ones to give the inner ones better protection. The wind here can go up to 100 kilometers per hour this time of year. Between August and February is our windy season. This wind, plus the cold ocean water, plus the nutrient rich water that's drawn in from the deep ocean bottom gives Luderitz the best fish and oysters in the country.

Hearing this will always give me chills. Man the lion king is one of the best Disney ever made, but it’s soundtrack, is one of the best to exist. Hans Zimmer and Lebo M just made something truly incredible all those years ago and it will be remembered for generations to come. Watching this gave me chills and brought me back to the first time I watched the lion king.

You know the value of a moment when it becomes a memory. As a 90s kid this OST means a lot to me and always got me in tears. My first experience on a cinema was the Lion king and the opening scene with Lebo M when I was only 4 years old. Almost 30 years later (with Hans Zimmer as all time favourite composer) you realize the impact music can have on us for a whole life.
