This was a life changing podcast for me. Him talking about his transition out, finding his meaning in life. He didn’t survive all of that just to make nothing of his life. Although I didn’t serve I’m dumbfounded that I’m alive still, there has to be a reason I’m still here and I have been turning my back on that reality for too long. I will never forget this podcast and I will always be thankful to Cody and Shawn.

I just came across this. I definitely need to listen when I have the time. My oldest was in the 2/75 Ranger Regiment that parachuted behind enemy lines to secure the Fallujah airstrip. I just remember him calling me a day early for my birthday to say he couldn't call on the real birthday because he had a deployment. Thank God he called me back about 10 days later to say he made it back in country & was OK until their next go-round. I praise these guys for their skills that I can't even begin to imagine.

People out of the services always do a big whoop kind of thing, they dont understand what these people are capable of. When we worked with them, it was sometimes something youd watch in early training or workups knowing who these guys were. Its hard not to. But in the field the first few times, its just a jaw drop. You sit there after the fact, and know I'm in a pretty high speed group, but those cats are on a different level. Like a high school football player watching the guys in the superbowl. A lot came from SF, some of the best instructors of firearms and fighting on the planet. They would hold class and show stuff when they could, and when people speak of how they can make friends quickly anywhere, they are dead on. They shared watch with us, which allowed us to rest more. They all went by their first names, had longer hair, wore baseball caps. They were gods to us. They had .300WM & .50cal sniper rifles. There was a Marine with our snipers named Place. That dude was a straight up killer…he laid so many people to waste and that group of snipers defined what our TTPs became in urban warfare. The craziest thing about these Delta operators is that they like normal guys that just wanted to get some, like the rest of us.

Honestly ive never listened to a whole JRE Podcast...ive listened to way more of JRE but when i came across this one i had listened to the small clips n always enjoyed them n appreciated how good cody tells the stories of his experiences n even more so how he speaks of his peers. Hes humble but knows hes a straight killer he gives respect where its fn due. How he speaks about wanting to excel n be the best to keep moving yet being unsure or i forget how he said it but when i heard it i was like wow that sounds alot like the voice inside my head. It was along the lines of ur entering a high level competition n ur unsure n maybe not feeling confident at the time but at the same time ur unwavering confidence in ur physical strength but even more so in ur mental strength. That voice in there thats gritting its teeth saying "f that" lol. I feel like those r still natural abilities idk maybe not but im sure theres guys out there that will say theyve had that voice in their heads ever since they could remember. Its always been a part of them. It just needed the right focus

My cousin was in fallujah for over 100 days in 05 06. He servered with the 101st and had his guys had the black hearts on their helmets. He told me a lot and showed me video from the fighting when he first came home and stayed a few days with us. Dude didn’t really sleep much when he came back and when he did he had some scary ass night terrors. He still re lives a lot of it from time to time I think. All of those guys do I’m sure

Thank you so much Shawn for sharing these stories, and not only that, doing it in the way you do. I’ve learned so much through these raw stories that I would’ve never knew. You’ve done every guest the best service possible by putting their stories out there. 🇺🇸

Damn I loved this episode! Happy to see some shorts come out of it too. The audio mastering is killing me though, I'm riding the control knob all through this and then get blasted with the end screen haha Just a little note for you guys, but keep it up these episodes are so important to share and I appreciate everything you and the guests are doing.

The audio was absolutely terrible and that’s so easy to fix in post production. I don’t get why they’d let’s this go out like that.

I saw a documentary about the battle of Fallujah a long time ago. It's the craziest war documentary I've ever seen. What our guys were up against was insane IMO. God bless our military each and every day 🙏 ❤🇺🇲

Left this comment maybe a month ago or so on your question about length of videos: “Viewers/audience of this channel certainly don’t listen to SF interviews to hear mellow, watered down, politician feeling interview.” Absolutely zero watered down politician feeling bull shit in this video! I’ve shared this video with nine of my friends already and they’ve all subscribed. Can’t wait for this one. Keep up the great work, Shawn! 🇺🇸

I'm so proud of those Marines of 2/1 , they are my heroes! It's an honor for me, to be called a "brother " by some of them guys I've met, especially as a civilian who's never been in the military. Thank you for sharing this. It means alot to me, listening, bringing back many thoughts and prayers from the time in 04. I want to say, you guys are the very best! Your the finest I was thinking of, when I created this saying which is true, " When your life is on the line... Only the "finest" will do!" I wished I could of done more to support you guys, as this one Marine asked another Marine in combat "Who's this friend of yours who sends you all this gear?" "All I get is Fucking cookies! lol" For me the look into a crying eye, who says to me, "Dave you'll never know how much that means to us!," those care packages you sent us. Honestly I said, I'd sent them to my buddy, and told him whatever he couldn't use, to pass it along to his friends which I'm glad he did. To me it says more than words can compose, the tears says it all, and comes from the heart of someone who has given their all, even giving of their best arm falling onto a hand grenade that exploded seconds afterwards. Later after hearing of the heroic efforts to save his life he tells me what happened to him after this grenade exploded... At first they got hit with several grenades on the rooftops and thought the insurgents were throwing rocks, as they'd forgotten to pull the pins on them before throwing them on the rooftop as throwing rocks is a middle east custom, he says... It was a miracle, as after the 4th grenade hit them but didn't explode ! Then one of those grenades exploded he says over at a area where they put there gear at, as no buddy was near it when this fifth grenade exploded. That was a miracle I thought, but he goes on to say the next thing he hears is Grenade! He literally dove his body on top of his machine gun to try to protect it, as this next one rolls underneath his machine gun, and its tripod and blows the gun up along with his arm that took much of the blast that looked like a bowl of spaghetti, all the muscles and tendons. As he says to himself, well this is the day, this is the place where I'm going to die, right here in Fucking Fallujah, Fucking Iraq! With every heart beat he could feel the life blood leaving his body. First thing he noticed was his wrist watch was melted into his wrist ... He says to himself "You know that should really hurt!" Realizing he's going into shock, he sits back and begins taking it all in, the silent screaming of others kicking back away from the roofs edge, deafened from the blast! One Marine is covering his neck as blood is shooting out like a fountain, every which way between his fingers as he's moving his hands trying to cover his wounds. He's looking around at everyone, then suddenly out onto this rooftop from the doorway of the stairwell, comes this Delta Force Medic, with his arms outstretched with a scrap piece of wire between his thumb and index finger, taught across to his other hand. He says it looks so odd, the way this Delta Medic is running, then he noticed his feet weren't touching the ground, he was levitated as he ran. Like seeing someone running up escalator stairs at the mall , the two speeds combined faster that what a person can run on their own. Why did he come to me, this Marine asks? "There's others hurt worse than I... And where did he know to get the wire he used from, because haji doesn't leave something like that laying around, they'd use it for an IED, but not only that, there was none of that wire type found anywhere in that city... so where did it come from? Then the other issue was how did this Delta Medic make it up this stairwell as he discovered it had been blown up, as he fell down those two flights of stairs, into a bookcase that helped cushion his fall, as this Medic rushed him to those stairs and helped push him over the edge, to get him off the roof. There's no way this Delta Medic should of been able to even make it up to the roof, as they'd put the bookcase over a window so the enemy snipers couldn't see them moving up and down the stairs, but the stairs and window were completely gone from an RPG hit. When the Corpsman got to him, downstairs they were in shock seeing him standing there holding his bloodied arm, that got all this matted dirt and dust in it, so they had to amputate it later he said. Then this other Marine steps up and says, Dave you don't understand, I was there with him in combat, and he's never told anyone this story of what happened , your the first person to hear about that day that a Delta Force Medic performed supernaturally to save his life, and the lives of others, on April 26, 2004 this Delta medic came running in like an angel that rescued him, saving his life with a piece of wire and of the true nature of a miracle that happened. What few people know, even fewer people would ever even understand.
