Today on Dead Dodge Garage, it’s a customer’s 1976 Dodge D100 short bed pickup truck. This D100 was the smallest truck Dodge made in this series - other than the step side of similar length - and it should, in theory, be fun to bomb around town. Unfortunately this truck has a bad attitude. But it’s got character, and it’s just cool.

My brother had a 78 d100 and man we had fun in it. That thing had a surprising amount of power and handled pretty well for what it was. He let it run out of oil and she threw a rod. Rip slant 6. Miss that little thing. Nightmare in the winter!

Wow. Everyone always says oil is optional on a slant. I’ve sent a rod through the side of one, but that was due to using like half a can of ether to start it… lesson learned.

Back in the day (dont all these stories start out that way? lol) I had a '72 Dart Swinger that's final iteration was a 225 Super Six with a 2bbl, 904 auto (rebuilt twice ... ) and a 8-3/4 3.91 Sure grip rear diff. Not sure how my mechanic got that one to fit but I was sure happy he did! Had more fun with that set up but alas, Northeast winters finally caught up with the body and underside important bits to the point where it no longer would pass inspection so it had to be sent off to the scrap heap. It did however circle the odometer twice (I bought it with 110k on the ticker and rolled it over once myself plus 56k and change! There are times where I miss that POS! lol

I miss mine soo much, it was an 81 that had a neat pop up roof window. Might be able to get a bit more pep out of it by advancing the timing a little, and give it a nice 2 barrel carb. That and sort out the fuel delivery issue

I have an 83 d150 that I intercepted on the way to the bone yard. Basket case doesn't EVEN come close to describing it. Guess what? I really love that old girl and right now putting the finishing touches on the new engine, the old was down to a quart in 200 miles-at best and was a rolls can hardly. The replacement is .040 over, .060 off the head and .010 off the deck. Aussie Hurricane intake with a 500 cfm 2300 Holey, Dutra duals with 2 1/4 inch pipes to a magna flow 2 in 1 out and 3 inch out the side with a custom ground cam . Fighting weird problems like finding the right throw out bearing and a fusible link that was barely holding on. and a transmission mount that is made right. .

My second gen dodge ram laramie slt 2000 dodge ram quad cab Dr door always rolls down quickly but hardly ever wants to go back up, the passenger side door window is quick up and down the doors were changed out for lower trim level and the wrong doors for the quad cab dodge truck they are from either a older club cab or a regular cab rounded lower rear corner door truck the quad cab is squared off doors because they are part of the door jamb for the front doors. And the speakers are a two prong wires plug very similar to gm lol and say audio Latina by chrysler on the back of them,so they hacked the 6 wire plug harness from the factory doors plugs the tweeters don't work but I have a plan for them. They said they changed the doors the passenger side door was rusty and dented to a crease point in the door and they bought the set of matching red doors so they swapped out the Dr door too they are ok but not perfect, but I will have to put door hinge bushings and pins in the doors since the previous owners just used the factory hardware for the 2000 ram truck the door were being installed on they figured it was the best.

Do you know if there is any way to make the slant 6 sound mean and not like a race car?
@DeadDodgeGarage
@DeadDodgeGarage Жыл бұрын
Well, I can tell you removing the muffler with a hacksaw makes a slant 6 sound like a broken tractor, so I don’t recommend that… you might be thinking of a nice sports car type exhaust sound. Unfortunately the slant doesn’t’t really live an RPM range where it will sing like that. You could try a glass pack but I don’t know if it’s going to give the effect you want. A cam and headers will probably be too far toward the race car end of things, and start to rob torque and street manners. Whatever you do, stick with a single exhaust pipe and don’t go too big. Maybe some kind of fancy performance muffler exists that can give you the sound you’re after, but I couldn’t say what it is.

@@DeadDodgeGarage exactly, when i was 17 i had a 65 van with the 170. with the muffler you had to touch it to know if it was running. without the muffler it sounded like an old glasspack. part of the reason you couldnt blow them up, the exhaust ports were so restrictive coupled with the restrictive 1bbl carb.

I usually try to keep them out of direct shots. The thing is, a plate number is public. Everyone on the road can see it. Every security camera or dash camera pointed right records it. I see people in car groups blurring their plates or covering them with towels and such and it just seems silly. I’m not going to worry about it too much.
